  1. I’d still personally like to see sanguinary guard go the way of company heroes, 4 man unit with 4 wound each each with something distinctive. im aware its not everyone’s cup of tea but I always hated people running armies of them anyway lol
  2. think it depends on the size of game, in smaller games their free intervention helped them protect other units, I have quite enjoyed them honestly BUT they dont do a huge huge amount.
  3. yeah i think a thing that helps them is the model itself is actually pretty cool and has some nice posing opportunities. rule wise its abilities do make it a decent melee threat, albeit a fair bit more vulnerable than a redemptor.
  4. just couldnt help yourself could you :D in seriousness, I'd love for GW to release some blood drops that are sized appropriately for knee pads though, and maybe shin plates too (with some sort of nice BA style design thats more than just a blood drop)
  5. I just want those melee weapons personally, also the little extra gun details to mold onto other guns maybe haha
  6. The two units didnt used to have the level of difference in strength dont forget, but yeah I guess now the difference is larger
  7. I know that the standard route a marine went through was devastator - assault - tactical but I always assume that there will be some marines who excel in particular areas and keep doing that thing. In terms of post rift, I think it's broadly the same, in that marines still go through the various companies, primaris still go through being scouts before they get the carapace for example. I guess just the specific units they train as may vary. In "darkness in the blood" one of the rookie marines is in an incursor squad being trained for example. I guess you're right that they wouldnt be veterans within the dev company per say, though the idea of veteran devastators being the captains company heroes would be cool (i.e. current company heroes are the battle companies heroes, which is why they represent all disciplines maybe. But either way, I like the idea of a bunch of veterans all with fancy heavy weapons! Seems cool idea to me.
  8. They’re the veteran tactical unit imo, a veteran unit with longer range would make sense, to represent the vets from the devastator company, for example
  9. So.. its 8 strength 5 AP -1 D1 shots hitting on 2s (assuming stationary) + 3 strength 5 AP -1 D2 shots hitting on 3s (assuming stationary) v 12 strength 5 AP -1 D2 shots hitting on 3s (assuming stationary) + sergeant weapon of choice The HINTs being so much more durable between more wounds, higher toughness and their special ability coupled with obsec makes them feel like the far superior choice considering they're also cheaper. Suppose the thing is, as others said, nobody uses heavy bolter devastators anyway - which is probably the point. On the main point of the topic though... - lascannon devastators are (broadly) covered by the las fusil eliminators surely? it's not a 1:1 but its relatively close conceptually. - plasmacannon devastators are the hellblasters or plasma inceptors - heavy flamer would be infernus squad - heavy bolter are arguably HINTs or Bolter Inceptors - multimelta devastators are eradicators so yeah its only really the grav ones that aren't broadly covered. I do like the notion of a veteran shooty unit focused on ranged dakka though. I love the master crafted heavy bolter dude in the company heroes!
  10. What’s the point point in comparing them like that when the devastators cost 20% more than the HINTs, the only reasonable way to do that comparison is to reduce the devastator squad to 4 models
  11. been a bit quieter on the hobby front for me lately, Blindhamster Jr played a game against grey knights and won, was pretty hard fought and entertaining for me to watch (a friend of mine brought his grey knights over for the game). Outside of that, I've done little bits of building and painting my side and my son has done a bit of painting. I've been focused on running a playtest for an RPG I've been writing so thats been a huge time sink. Excited to see what the future brings for blood angels personally, but right now I've got a partially built jump captain and then I've still got 10 scouts, 5 terminators, 5 jump assault intercessors and 5 desolation marines to build. Plus side, once all those are done I'll actually have completed my hobby backlog from a building perspective, if I can get them based, basecoated in the correct red and bases painted to the basic level everything else is, it'll be a good position to then pick units to progress to completion.
  12. I’d actually prefer an upgrade sprue didn’t waste space on dreadnought parts, we will get far far fewer useful parts for an army if it has dreadnought bits on there
  13. im the opposite, i hate the sculpted saltires and the would much prefer a more detailed blood angel upgrade sprue that can work for either death company or other.
  14. this is honestly my biggest hope. what I expect though is: - a bunch of shoulder pads with crosses - some angry faces - some weapons with crosses (maybe one fancy melee weapon) - dreadnought bits And i'll be utterly disinterested.
  15. I loved them from the very first leaked lieutenant that so many people here thought was fake lol. The moment dark imperium was out I boxed up my old marines, and eventually sold them on.
