  2. Oh don't worry, I completely agree. I was just thinking out loud really. Firstborn DC have a clear role as a hammer unit but Primaris are hamstrung by their lack of wargear options. Whether DC Jump Assault Intercessors become worth taking is something we will have to wait and see in the Codex. Jump Intercessors are already priced to move and do pretty well in an SOS Detachment but there doesn't seem to be much of a niche between them and Van Vets.
  3. First up in the Burning of prospero campaign was phase one: Ferocity; which was initial landing of the space wolves. Famously, Magnus the Red hid in his tower awaiting the judgement of the emperor, withdrawing or sending troops away rather than defending Tizca. Even going as far as clouding prescience of Amon and Ahriman. In the story the Thousand sons didn’t really appear until mid battle. Holding back on their father’s orders. Those of the Raptora occult providing a kine shield over the city, forcing the “Loyalists” to approach by sea to attack the space port. so I planned a few ZM games to show the loyalist attacking key structures. Most notably those that the warmaster would utilise later when the depths of his betrayal was revealed. And. I wanted to use the thousand sons I spent ages painting. I also had militia to represent those defending old Tizca. The initial landing of the space wolves. and mechanicum representing Zhao Arkhad who serve their own interests rather than be wiped out. The final battle would be the defence of the space port… opening game below; 1250 points. Draw 4-4
  4. Yes, it's definitely not ideal. Still, Drukhari and DG indexes have both received significant enough positive reworks that I'm still hopeful for a Data-Slate change. I would be happy enough if they made the simple change of letting us reinforce Battleline units to 20 like last edition. Pretty much all the other BS4+ armies have some bigger blobs available to really capitalize on buffs, but AdMech don't really care about buffing 10 vanguard. Then also maybe just remove/change some/most of the 'must be near battleline to benefit' riders, and give us a few choice changes to increase number of Battle Tactics, and we're probably good! We can see now that basically any codex release 'resets the timer' on material changes to either rules or points. I'm increasingly just resigned to waiting the 6 months following any Codex before it starts getting changed through updates. The tempo of change is pretty high as-is, so it does make sense to only touch the top and bottom quartiles in each cycle... Cheers, The Good Doctor.
  5. No, because gravis impedes mobility, and speed, not super important when you’re a long range fire support unit. assault intercessors need to be fast and mobile, intercessors may need to be more mobile, or more durable depending on tactical situation so there are intercessors that use both.
  6. I think that the spear the Emps gave Russ to hunt Horus with is a possibility but I don't think that he took it with him on his vision quest. I think he left it in the Fang and it was eventually lost when Ragnar stabbed Magnus in the eye with it. It was eventually recovered and returned to its shrine on the planet Garm. Russ is usually depicted with a chainsword in artwork so I would imagine him carrying either the Spear or a chainsword (or both for sweep and strike attacks).
  7. I think 10 points would have been better, but GW has shown that they value re-usable equipment pretty highly with some of the points changes that GSC had in previous updates. I'm more of a 2 squad Kasrkin guy anyways, so I'm mostly okay with it, but it did make me cut Ursula from my list. Probably gonna have to re-tool it and really start leaning on armored spearhead over parking lot artillery.
  8. Bullgryn nerf is predicable since many tournament top lists take 12~18. And it's just +3.33pts per model. Kasrkin nerf is unfair. Are they really that good to worth 20% more than a scion? I don't think so.
  9. I have a feeling he'll stay as a lore only character for a while yet. He's a Daemonic Raven creature now, hunting Lorgar in the warp, and the Raven Guard aren't as popular as the big 4 chapters. I think we'll see Russ in the near future, and eventually MAYBE Rogal Dorn or Vulkan. The Imperial Fists are extremely important in the lore, and a key focus for GW in the Horus Heresy setting. I'm always dejected at how ignored they've been in 40k - we don't even have a model for our chapter master, or much lore for thar matter, but that's another topic entirely. Claws are associated with the Space Wolves, so the Emperor's Talon makes sense. They could go a different direction, and have a wise, Odin inspired Russ with the Spear from the HH novels.
  10. Malvolio and Ana: GM: OOC It will take a professional to determine with any certainty. A Difficult (-10) Medicae Test, or a Very Hard (-30) Perception Test shall reveal more. Reynard: At your mention of a debt of honour, Cheeky sits up straighter, a wry smile hovering about his lips. 'Hmm. A name that haunts a thousand histories, young man. It might be worth scouring the docking logs since there may be some traffic,' Chekhov replies, thoughtfully. His fingers drum a brief, random tattoo on the desktop. His eyes wander to the several astrogation sextants on the shelves around the room, lit by sconces. It appears each is more antique than the last. 'We could petition our Navigator. She could perhaps delve the Warp for threads from Damocles. Otherwise,' he drawls, 'we would need to browse the Librarium and burden our researchers. One used to be an explorator-archeoexcavator.' Chekhov sighs, hits you with a level look. 'It could take a while.'
  11. Disappointing points hikes, my sisters will stay shelved for now
  12. The Admech cycle this edition: "Alright the index sucks let's wait for the points" "Alright the points suck let's wait for the slate" "Alright the slate sucked let's wait for the codex" "Alright the codex sucked let's wait for the slate" "Alright the slate sucked let's wait for the mfm that will definitely have a slate for us since we got ignored that time" "Alright the mfm sucked but they totally pinky promised that we should wait for the slate" One bleep blooping year of being both depressing to play with and against Happy anniversary tenth ed, but hey at least ruststalkers have hit the 1$ per point threshold
  13. That's not a bad idea. I'd done the blue to match it to the arc weapons and taser goads in the army as "electric" stuff. But I don't need to be that fixed. Might try that on the next lot.
  14. Run it as a Solar pattern Cohort then the Veletarii Sentinels count as troops and gain Line I think because they swap out a storm section that is a compulsory troops for a unit of Hermes sentinels if I am reading it right.
  15. Reynard: Fancy digs. Reynard's fingers - organic, and oddly, bionic too - itched with a sudden desire to pilfer. Foolishness, though. Thievery on a vessel this size, with so few crew members upon whom to shift blame, would quickly result in punishment. Besides, he wanted this man's assistance. He took a seat on the other side of the opulent desk. “My thanks, Lord Seneschal. To put it bluntly, I am trying to find someone. A matter of honour, a debt owed to a young man, and a promise made to a young woman's father. I know that the young man and woman left Damocles together approximately six months ago, on a ship headed along a similar course to ours. Unfortunately, although they will be pleased when I reach them, when they left they were seeking to avoid pursuit, and therefore the details of their ship, their route and their destination have been… obscured.” “My investigations uncovered very little, except a single name. It means nothing to me. A ship, or its Captain? A world or Sector? I do not know… but I hoped that with your knowledge, it might mean something to you? The name is Androcles.”

  17. The monolith is competitive due to the Hypercrypt legion. It has also showed up a few times as a 3-of, though that build seems a lot more "Fun" than super competitive.
  18. Malvolio Raising his hand he signalled the attention of the others, what few were here of the ships medicae and security staff but one of the ships officers had also attended the call and so her he spoke directly. "Let the body not be disturbed until those cuts of intent be separated from those of conflict." The work of a death cult perhaps, the tenuous edge between praise and heresy in his name for he could sense no breach in the warp nor passage of the unclean... then again such things faded quickly while not in realspace. "The eyes of the ship are ever open" he intoned to the voidmaster, for indeed few not of the vessels complement could hope to move far without stumbling into the path of some construct of the mechanicum, but by the same token the fleeting servo skulls and lumbering servitors could pass no judgement of their own will on the humans they encountered.
  19. Hey, I'm not the one arguing they can't, that'd be the Inquisitor. I agree, but the eradicator is already out of the bag, so let's just keep slapping them big guns on em. Give em grav, give em whatever. 3 man devastator squads in gravis armor is fine by me; you only ever got 4 worthwhile devastators for what you paid for, and now we can go all the way up to six!
  20. Malvolio: The hardening of your soul a sensible precaution in amongst such a soulless company as found in the servitor racks, your senses edge out, brushing against the truly living, Sola, a mixture of concern and business, a couple of crewmen detailed to recover the body, both confused and sad. The echoes of a soul gone are no less confusing. The blood patterns seem to mean something, but maybe mean nothing. The cuts are random in some places, deliberate in others. Defensive wounds against an attacker accustomed to edged weapons. Beneath the surface, there is a mix of deep confusion. A lingering sensation of anticipation, elation, happiness. Then begins the sour note of terror, and the creeping tendrils of darkness.
  21. I'm reserving judgement on Ad Mech until the Balance Dataslate comes out as it's seems they're in for some support there. But constant point drops to the most expensive (in £££) army to field is not the answer long term. Every time I seem to get close to a full 2k army the points drop and I need to buy another unit! They need the sort of hard look and rethink that a new edition and then a new codex should have provided but for whatever reason didn't.
  22. We lost the one variant to legends already, so it wouldn't be totally shocking. That being said it's still a kit GW produces and I've seen it on shelves within the last year. I know that's not a guarantee of survival, but it makes it more likely. I think GW just doesn't know what to do with flyers.

    The Silent Sisterhood

So the remodel is in progress but going very well but unfortunately due to crazy Arizona weather, fiancé and some of the kids being sick last weekend it is hitting me finally. Tired, sick, and sore not a good combo, I am trying to fight through it all. While moving stuff around in preparation of the remodel, I was putting box kits on the shelves and putting my unboxed Redemptionist and Sisters of Silence in the rolling cart with other stuff. I being debating what I want as my allies for Horus Heresy Raven Guard. Solar Auxilia didn't seem right, I was thinking Space Wolves but that was more marines I would have to build and buy. Then looking at the sprues of Sisters of Silence and was like why not, Sisters of Silence. I need to sit down and see what I have, what I need. Know I am going to be using Sister Novitiate Weapons to count as Power Fist and Whips. Eventually I will convert/ build beasts for a Pursuer Cadre and nemesis bolters for the Sanctioner Cadre. I do want a big unit Raptora Cadre around my Knight Abyssal and a big Squad of Oblivion Knights both in Kharon Pattern Acquistors. I do plan on running base two Prosecutor Cadres maybe a third one with twin bolt pistols.
  24. The drops for scions units are nice, and the hellhound getting a cut was a nice bonus! I'm still not sure why the Valkyrie still hasn't been touched; I'm beginning to suspect that one might be getting Legends-ed when we get our codex (request tin foil hat shipments from ministorum....)
  25. I'm focusing on my Chaos SM and World Eaters this edition, so a lot of drops on units I use plenty of.
