Deathwatch: Mark of the Xenos gives the following profile for Ork power claws: 1D10+20 R, Pen 8, Unbalanced If anyone was still looking for a DW source on them. I have it open here.

I believe the result Mazer posted above is from Rending - Leg...? Yes indeed. And can be used to heal Wounds, if that is what you are thinking... but not once you've gone into Critical Damage (see the section re FP in the crb, also mentioned in the errata) Unfortunately for Asterius the first attack that hit rolled high enough to go straight into Crits, meaning there was no time for Asterius to use the FP? @Necronaut I want to say it was based on Mark of the Xenos, maybe? Edit: @Urauloth what Necro said! -

In line with the Warhammer Community post, I find this very curious. In the photos, they continue using the fourth and fifth edition plastic miniatures and have not yet painted current ones with those colors. -

I don't believe Vafri has been knocked down into critical damage yet, so no -- True Grit applies only to critical damage taken (i.e. damage below 0 wounds). -

What I believe DemonGSides is saying is that the power scale of Primarchs is the problem - that is to say, not that they are over/underpowered when it comes to performance on the tabletop, but that their inclusion (and the wider inclusion of all Titanic units) brings up the power scale away from the smaller feel of 40k in the past. 40k is being moved further and further away from the skirmish/small battle scale game and more into the...hell I don't even know what to call it anymore: just the mishmash of whatever the people want (especially with the Rule of Three based armies instead of anything resembling actual forces), and Primarchs (and other Titanic units) push that scale upwards (regardless of their balancing) because they are inherently these larger than life entities that have been previously (and continue to be) hyped up within the lore. It's not that Knights or Primarchs are necessarily powerful in-game, but that they are powerful in the setting and so their inclusion on any given battlefield gives it a much grander feeling than apparently quite a few folks are happy with. IMO, Primarchs (and Knights and other Titanic units) should really have gone the route of old school Special Characters: they can only be fielded in sufficiently large games as to properly represent the scale at which they'd reasonably be expected to be fighting in. Angron being present in tons of tiny little skirmishes feels off from the lore side of things, where he'd really be leading charges into the heart of enemy formations. This is where the scale feels off, because these epic figures (Primarchs and the other Titanic units as well) are involved in (or at least can be) such small scale games it distorts the sense of the world that 40k has. Of course, not everyone will agree with that, which I get, but that's the problem as I see it and (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe this is where several others see the issue as well. Primarchs (and Titanic units, but Primarchs especially because of their mythic status) are a warping influence especially when they're detailed in so many stories as well as included in smaller scale games.

I forgot about True Grit as well, that cuts Váfri's damage taken down to 5 then? I swear each Astartes has more rules than a whole game of Dark Heresy...

Okay I was just curious (and clearly very interested in getting our characters killed) -- the power klaw entry in Into The Storm makes it effectively an ork chain fist, but I haven't found an equivalent entry in the Deathwatch books (yet). To wit: Damage: 2d10E, Pen 10 Special: Power Field, Tearing, Unwieldy Additional: Doubles wearer's strength bonus -

Machine God replied to Lysimachus's topic in + PBP Games +
@Lysimachus - Well if the Klaw isn't energised then the Critical shouldn't be Energy. More Impact - Leg or Rending - Leg I'm still thinking up something on something. It does say that Fate can be spent at Any time. -
Just the way of the internet. A big reason I'm getting out of my hobbies.

It's probably all the extra sensors, turn 'em all on at full intensity simultaneously for that sensory overload. -

Hmm, I'm not 100% (as mentioned, I've not got books to hand this evening) but I don't seem to have included Power when I copied the profile over onto my doc for the battle set-up post, so I think no it doesn't? My thought would be that Ork klaws work purely by massive hydraulic pressure rather than being energized in any way? -
If I recall, there's a trapezoid shaped piece at the bottom that would have been inset to hold it in place between the two torso halves. Shaving that piece off at the edges may allow you to push it down into place. Is it possible to pry the body back apart? Your points of ingress for a flat edge could be in the arm holes or bottom, those will be covered by later assembly. Oh I just re-read and think I understand better. Seems like cutting the neck down slowly and test fitting the heads as you go is your best bet if you can't pry everything apart.

Ive not read the latest book, but i dont think people should be looking for something to match the black books at all really. The project has shifted scope and we arent looking at those huge tomes worked on for years with a much wider mandate to look into things and extrapolate, we have the same kind of campaign books the studio has been making for years, working through a story and adding some loosely related rules at the end. I still think they have been good for what they are but even if you had the likes of Alan Bligh or Warwick Kinrade working on them folks would be disappointed i think, its the nature of SGS compared to Forgeworld ultimately, we at least get them fairly regularly!

Necronaut replied to Lysimachus's topic in + PBP Games +
@Lysimachus just for clarification: does Grubgob's klaw have a power field or not? I'm assessing my options and formulating a course of action for the next turn. -
It'd be wonderful if people read the thread they're posting in but that's been at a serious lack around here lately.
-
Couldn't you also get a lucky roll and one shot those vehicles though? Don't see that happening against a 22W knight. Also all knight lists are a faction and a thing. Never played against 1.5-2k points of purely land raiders.

Ok, in that case that's a (slight) reprieve for Asterius! I'll try to get my post edited asap to show 'not-quite-dead-yet', but I'm still crazy busy today so it might be a few hours... -

Yep, Mazer just pointed this out to me via PM, I had forgotten about True Grit... apologies all! Can anyone remind me what -7 is on the Crit table? I'm out again now, so away from my device with books on it. I think(?) the leg is still gone...? -
best of luck with your project! are going magnets?
-
Titanic units are no more impactful in 10th edition than fielding Land Raiders in earlier editions where all-round AV14 was a very tough nut to crack. The difference is that lasguns can still wound Knights on a 6. Back in 3rd-7th edition, anything less than S8 had no chance of even scratching LRs.
-
It is a very early WIP, just getting the sides done and then onto the main part
-
Does that damage include the effects of the True Grit talent? (all critical damage halved, rounding up) Space marines all have it by default, I think Asterius is alive (ish) on -7

necromunda Necromunda Proxy and Fixer
m0nolith replied to Lord Marshal's topic in + NEWS, RUMORS, AND BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS +
I play Necromunda with, …well, Necromunda models Love it! IMO best game GW ever put out! I will say though that I love the spot it is at right now. Not popular enough where GW upper management starts getting too involved, tossing too many cooks at it which spoils the broth (again, all this is just IMO, you’re welcome to disagree with me here). Popular enough to where it gets regular support created by a small, talented and dedicated segment of the company with great creative flair, making what I think is the best looking range of models GW has. I love 40k, and I will admit that 30k is probably my favourite “brand” that GW has due to the world they created and the narrative, but to me Necromunda is in another league due to the fantastic models, gameplay and the superb campaign system. Because of the campaign every action has weight because it carries on into future games during that campaign, and the superb narrative that is a result of that emergent gameplay. It’s hard to go back to a regular game when the highs are so much higher and the lows so much lower due to that campaign system. This may not be for everyone, but it is definitely for me. Also, these two modes are great!
