  1. Past hour
  2. Wow, the alternate tires for the bikes make a huge difference. It's a bit silly to say this but I like them a lot; they definitely work well and add a bit of extra punch to the models. Your paintjob is excellent, as always. I also find the concrete slabs for the bases very cool.
  3. Adepticon was fun though exhausting. I'm just now recovering from it.
  4. That would create a situation where we would be implying some hierarchy where factions are better/worse than others. Moreover, understanding what that hierarchy actually is would be challenging, with people that care wondering if their rank was higher or lower than some other rank when there is no intuitive recognition. For example, would an Ork be higher or lower than a Genestealer? A system including all factions would also create more ranks than are necessary and would give us a constantly moving target as Games Workshop introduces new factions and potentially removes existing factions. Ultimately, ranks serve little purpose other than to provide a basic indicator of how much active a member has been in the community. They don't confer any privileges or permissions. Just because a member with the Venerable Brother rank says something doesn't mean that their opinion is more valid than that of a Novitiate. Members desiring to proclaim their allegiance to/favoritism for some faction, and doing so in a personalized manner, have many methods for doing so. The most obvious is the personal photo/avatar. Others include the display name (chosen at time of registration, but occasionally allowed to be changed), signature, about me page, and the "Faction" information in the personal photo.
  5. Urgh, that sounds frustrating. Have you considered getting your dice exorcised? More seriously, I hope your luck improves soon
  6. Urm… I bought The Age of Darkness box plus a land raider proteus plus 20 extra marines plus a heavy weapons box plus Liber Astartes plus Liber Hereticus My leadweight is going to be painful…. But in my defence, it’s for my 40th birthday and the whole lot only cost me £110!!!!! So I’m afraid I just couldn’t walk away …
  7. Today
  8. Perhaps you’d like to reconsider this accusation. In future I’d recommend a bit more research before making such a claim.
  9. Yes, they are exceptional. In fact, these two novels basically changed the way I look at the Primaris and the whole lore situation in the Era Indomitus. Very much recommended
  10. Just checked mine and they’re the same (all black), not that there’s any reason they’d be any different. Bit of a shame, hopefully fixed in the solo boxes.
  11. The Map Room: The Seneschal, Kasimir Chekhov, takes over. 'Not that much, Cas. We do know it's supposedly wild territory, and the orbital station is a free port, nominally in control of the Imperial Navy.' 'Cheeky' adjusts a facet of the hololithic table to show the planet, and it's orbital platform. The planet is a dusty, dark grey and sulphur-yellow marble, watched over by the single, sentinel space station - which itself is substantial, easily able to berth the Chylde. 'Imperial law is...permeable in this place,' Cheeky continues, glancing at the zealot, Kovac. 'And from reports the docking fees are suspiciously low.' De Wiart sniffs, takes over with a business-like mien. 'The Mandeville will be secure enough at the system terminus, but there will likely be some dross lurking.' He punches a haptic rune to reveal the staggered pitch and sworl of the nine planets circling around the star, Demeter. 'Don't like the look of those asteroid shoals between Demeter Eight and Nine. Mark them well, de Brae.'
  12. Thanks Tallarn! I actually think that bit would work well for the Possessed I'm planning, I've also got lots of the skeletons nestled in Ghoul back-hair from my Flesh Eater Courts army that would work really well here too (Possessed Wulfen). That's a great shout! The red is starting to pop now, it's just time to do literally every other colour As @Doctor Perils rightly pointed out, the helmets will need some extra highlighting (probably further into orange) to make sure they're not lost in the red body. I think this was a problem I had with the Tartoros terminators I did too
  13. Castinius Castinius gave a hard grin, his blood rushing at the thought of a fight. The only thing better than the knife-edge of battle was steering a ship through the dangers of the void. Giving his power sabre a small lift to make sure it was loose in it's scabbard, he nodded to the rogue trader. "Do we know anything about this breakers' yard, or the system it is in?"
  14. TRANSMISSIONS FROM THE 4th TYRANIC WAR I'm told that Detachments other than Firestorm exist, but have yet to be convinced. GAME 6 - SPAWNING GROUNDS Another match against Kieran's Hive Frost Bjorn, swollen to 1,250 points worth of nasty, and LARGE beasties. Much like last time, it seems I have trouble with some of the big monsters. Or the medium monsters. Or the small ones, honestly, I came out of this game with one model left, and a grand total of 'a dead hive guard, some gaunts who got respawned, and a few wounds split between the big nids' for the trouble. Oh well. That Tyranofex has proven to by a massive thorn (or biological tank-buster) in my side, having now killed off 3 dreadnoughts almost single-handedly. Rupture Cannons! They're good! Probably would have gone a little better for me if either dread had been able to land more than a single hit on it over 2-3 turns worth of missile AND lascannon shots. I'm SO good at rolling dice. Now with some delightful snow bases! This match convinced me not to bother teleporting my terminators in. An extra turn of shooting from them may have helped things a little. This Crusade Day was the first deployment of a few of my newer models. My techmarine, second dread, Judiciar. None of them achieved much in game 6, but it was nice to get them on the board for the inevitable bout of 'new model dies horribly in their first match' syndrome. Once I learn how to take a decent picture it's over for you lot.
  15. We can still look forward to an audible release if they hold it back from release on their own terrible store, at least :')
  16. The Map Room: De Wiart thoughtfully rubs his chin at de Brae's questions. 'Well that, Castinius old friend, is the rub. I suspect Her Nibs doesn't want anyone official to know about it, which means that it's bloody dangerous to everyone involved.' He gently smooths his beard and moustache. Grooming complete, he sports a rueful smile. 'Which also means, we'll likely have to spill a little claret.' He gives de Brae a knowing look.
  17. Not sure. The renderer in Navisworks, despite being from the same company, seems to work much better, as it does for throwing the models around. This could also be the impetus i need to start footling around in 3Ds Max. That said, i'm realising i might have gone overboard in some areas with my desire to have everything scaled as it "should" be... ammo storage has always been one of my bugbears in 40k, as nothing ever seems to have enough..., so I went to the effort of making sure ammo drums etc. were comparably sized and contained enough rounds to be worthwhile in a firefight. Modelling each and every individual bolt round was, however, probably not necessary and has added a great many polygons to the models that don't need to be there at the scale. So i'm currently going through an exercise of removing these to see if it marginally improves things.
  18. I fill old basing texture pots with water for weight/stability and then use blue tac - never seen the need for actual handles.
  19. Today I got an insane eBay deal on Age of Darkness, plus a land raider proteus plus 20 extra marines plus a heavy weapons box plus Liber Astartes plus Liber Hereticus I’m absolutely buzzing … but I promised my wife I would wait until my birthday to actually open it
  20. I'm not sure the Blood angel one comes with a decal sheet, but if it does, it's almost certainly this one:
  21. Zidemi: From your training and personal experience with the Salamanders, and now your Deathwatch indoctrination, you know that the Orks cannot be ignored. They must be destroyed, weeded out whenever and wherever they take root, before their numbers can grow and swell to catastrophic proportions. However, you would also know that a viable tactic in dealing with the greenskins is to allow them to advance, stretching out their forces, drawing them piecemeal onto your defences and annihilating them with overwhelming firepower. It appears to you that perhaps that is Kine's intent? It is a strategy with no small risk, though. If you open your door and the guest is more dangerous than you believed, it can be difficult - or even impossible - to close the door again. Moridyn: Skaayn nods in tacit approval of your acceptance of the way things are. “Repairs proceed on the Supremacy according to schedule. Assuming these Orks don't cause too much trouble, we should be ready to depart in twelve days.”
  22. The vulcan will land more hits when close, yes, however swarm missiles will be landing hits on things from 40" away without the need to get into reaver kicking zone, which is huge.
  23. I’m not sure it’s fair to accuse them of misrepresenting the nature of the caution. The exact text from Goonhammer reads: “these rules don’t seem playable. Oddly, the designers seem to think the same, so they’ve given us a big note at the start of this section warning us not to use these rules in a competitive environment or when time is a factor. Time is a factor at narrative events and even club nights, assuming you get chucked out at some point, so for me this pretty much rules out the army.” https://www.goonhammer.com/goonhammer-review-the-battle-of-beta-garmon/ None of that warning stops them necessarily being fun but the warning about time taken has been represented accurately. Most games will have some sort of time limit, even in a casual environment. If the rules can only be used when you’ve got endless time to play then for a lot of people they’ll be effectively useless. Plus you’ve still got the other criticisms such as being able to switch tactics at will to disregard your negative traits. Again, none of this stops these rules necessarily being fun but the concerns and criticisms seem legitimate to me.
  24. I was wondering if any one had any pictures or examples of what the Primaris Blood Angels and Dark Angels transfers included in the combat patrols look like? I can't find it now, but I'm sure I saw the DA one had some Successor Chapters symbols on it?
  25. Clearly the intended interpretation is that a Night Lords dreadnought can charge, but only if it's in a transport.
