  1. Past hour
  2. The color saturation is from my phone's camera. I am not well versed in manually adjusting camera settings so it kinda grabbed something in the image and jammed up the color balance somehow. However the alternative was that it made a lot of things super yellow which was also undesirable. One of these days I should take a course on how to use cameras so I can adjust my phone's settings.
  3. You know, I do wonder if the 'old world' for 40k is, rather than Horus Heresy, a recreation of 2nd (and that era's rules and models) or early 3rd set in the centuries before the gathering storm, ie long before the 13th black crusade, or the Gothic war, or leviathan, or the third war for Armageddon, or other elements of 3rd which provided development on 2nd's more optimistic world. Could be a fascinating return to two (very) different forms of 40k
  4. Thanks gents, there is was scouring the Squad Mode section, the Leader section, the Squad Mode bit in RoB... I don't quite know how I missed it in Tac Marine section! And blimey... a Tac Marine BT Leader is a powerful force multipler!
  5. Reciting from the Holy Codex Astartes, Deathwatch Pattern, XIVth Edition, Chapter 2, subsection Deathwatch Tactical Marine, page five-and-eighty, verses 10-15: "On the subject of Tactical Expertise: so shall it be that when initiating a Blessed Squad Mode ability, the Tactical Marine may share the benefits of his Chapter's Squad Mode abilities with the members of his Kill-Team as if they were part of his Chapter. This requires a successful Hard (-20) Command Test." Thus it is written. Amen. In nomine Imperator et Spiritus Sancti.
  6. It’s a Tactical Marine Special ability, in the Specialties Chapter.
  7. The green on those Tyranids is definitely very striking, isn't it? Good to hear you enjoyed the game. Although it does look like your Chaplain has found a target-rich environment
  8. Question, as I've somehow missed it... what is 'Tactical Expertise'? Based on Necro's Post, I'm assuming it allows everyone to use a Chapter Squad Mode other than their own, which they couldn't normally do? But I can't find it!
  9. That would even make a Kill Kan horde spore their pants! Really cool..
  10. That would be pretty cool! I owned a smaller part of an Ork army, my buddy had more and the interesting stuff, mostly.. Along with some Boar Boyz and some Cyboars.. They had a massive charge range iirc? A bit random but damn, those and the Skorcha were absolute super lethal and in the skumgrod´s face right off.. I lovethose models but plastic and metal hybrids iirc? Would be cool but could also be fun converting with existing plastics?
  11. Gerhardt Gerhardt watched with grim satisfaction as Drachenhauer sheared through the warboss’s crude talon, rendering the weapon all but impotent. He weathered a further bone-crunching blow in response which drove him to one knee, when an enormous manipulator arm whipped out of his peripheral vision and smote the great ork. +Well met, Brother Zidemi!+ Adopting a two-handed grip on his longsword, he rose and began hacking away at the reeling freeboota in turn, howling with crazed, holy fervour over the kill-team vox, +Now, brothers! Put these vile aliens to the sword once and for all! Vengeance for the fallen! For the Emperor and Asterius!+ Gerhardt has activated the Holy Vengeance squad mode, which all battle-brothers currently engaged in melee (or within charge distance of the enemy for a charge + standard attack) may wish to partake. See spoiler below for details.
  12. They also bring up the first Cado Ezechiar novel without noting the sequel’s available this weekend. This is basic stuff. If only any care were put into these posts.
  13. Today
  14. On one unit? Doesn't matter. 2 units? 1 of each. 3 units? Doesn't matter - for me it's 2 bolters because two of them are backfield/ far flank campers and the range matters. 4? Back to 2 of each... but nobody is realistically taking 4. Probably. Most comp lists seem to take 1, maybe two if going full Sagitaur spam. I take 3 ; ) Cheers, The Good Doctor.
  15. Linky to Poll The 2023 Favourite Winning by a considerable margin, Majkhel's amazing Blood Angels Terminator Captain has earned the 2023 Challenge Favourite Badge with 12 votes. Please join me in congratulating Majkhel on the well deserved victory for the third year in a row...
  16. I think Frontline Gaming has some flat bases you can glue onto the GW provided base and it adds a little bit to it. Not s fully painted base but a good proxy.
  17. Lets just say I can see the appeal of Contrast to paint these units! Next time I run Devastators, I'll get a picture of it on the table
  18. If I was referring to those, I would have said Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs or Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs. Yes, most of that list are now Legends options. Regardless of what someone's club or tournament thinks, Legends Datasheets are legal units and will be discussed as options in this series of threads.
  19. TRANSMISSIONS FROM THE 4th TYRANIC WAR Swarming from the ruins. GAME 8 - ROTTING BIOMASS Another close, knock-down brawl with Typhon, and the first match to include the recently completed Captain Cominius. The first draw of the crusade (well, that I've been involved in, not sure if anyone else had fallen into one yet) was the result of us both camping our arses on objectives and trading body blows. Andrew has been running the swarm-focused option, the name of which I simply CANNOT remember, but it's proven to be effective and fun! Gives me something to shoot, anyway. Endless waves of claws. I popped Eradicate the Swarm about a dozen times, which was nice... But did lead to me finding out something. I've not been running the one, correct agenda for a Space Marine Crusade: Know No Fear. Having used it extensively back in 9th, I misread it in 10th, and thought it wouldn't apply to destroyed squads. Apparently, it does! I've left so, SO much XP on the floor. Oh well. "This is fine."
  20. Okay, I've just come back from a good Krumpin' and I'z gots sumfing to say. I got invited to a 1000 point game by a friend into the local game store and it was certainly an odd game. My opponent wanted to try out his new Salamanders army rather than his usual T'au. We got that strange diagonal deployment and I won setup and first turn. My first turn's shooting was dreadful, only taking out two marines from from the Desolation Squad. However, I declared a Waaagh after being reminded that I can declare it at any point during the turn. My Warboss and Meganob bodyguard dismounted and engaged the Dreadnought, who was destroyed after we finally realised that I'd once again forgot to roll for sustained hits with my units. My Mega Dread showered the Primaris Lieutenant (Knife guy from Leviathan?) with shrapnel from it's Boombits and then proceeded to mangle him beyond recognition with it's Rippa Klaw. Of course, my opponent retaliated. He brought his Repulsor Executioner to bear and the heavy laser destroyer fired a burst at the Mega Dread but hit nothing significant, bouncing off my Invulnerable saves. He unleashed hell on my Meganobs with the rest of the Executioner;s weapons and the Terminators at my Meganobs weathered the storm. His Desolation squad destroyed one of my Killa Kans and Grots and that was the limit of his shooting. His Terminators started their grisly work on my Meganobs, who avoided being wiped by the Invulnerable saves from the Waaaagh... Turn 2 I whittled the health of the Repulsor down with the Mega Dread and Killa Kans, my Flash Gitz engaged the Desolators and wiped them out, and the Battlewagon tank-shocked into the Terminators to rescue the Warboss. Pan's Assault Intercessors with captain flattened half of my Boyz squad on one of the objectives using Hammer of Wrath and wiped out the rest in a flash of well-trained chainblades. My friend conceded at that point though. My Stormboys were still waiting to drop in and Pan's army was so damaged that he believed he couldn't come back from it. I felt bad for it, I just got some good results during the Waaagh and broke the back of his army early. I felt bad for him because I think I won primarily due to some lucky armour saves so that he couldn't counter-attack until it was too late. Still, it's nice to get another game in and I finally broke my losing streak. :D
  21. Someone keep DarkChaplain away from WHC this morning They did an article about getting into AoS lore through books, talked about four books, and mentioned the mystery omnibus at the end. If you weren't paying attention, you might think the four books they mention are the four books you get in the Omnibus since it's in the same article and they're both aimed (according to the article itself) at getting you caught up on AoS. Until you realize that none of the authors previewed are a part of the omnibus, at least according to the cover Not saying it's being misleading on purpose but they really need to do better with how they talk about these things, because this won't be an AoS only issue going forward
  22. I like Option 2 also. Lone Op is a very good ability, it will definitely help you move around the board and score objectives. I have played Shrike for a good amount of time now and I have to say his worth is probably not as a beatstick. I've played him with 10 Vanguard Vets with a mix of Shields and pistols and they will do okay against MEQ and such, but they're not the powerful assault units they used to be. This is also true for Assault Intercessors with jump pack. My advice would be to split the unit in two, have one run with Shrike for the extra protection and use them as Assassins and skirmish unit. This will also help you get the best of Hammer of Wrath since it can be hard to get 11 models in engagement range at times, but squeezing 5-6 is a lot easier and you can do it on two separate targets if you have two squads of AssInt. Also, cut a Lasfusil on your Eliminators to get the carbine. It is worth loosing a powerful shot to get the ability to move back into cover after shooting, or move further to get on an objective or score Engage/behind enemy line.
  23. Thanks! I try to achieve exactly what you've described. In my mind my guys were deployed a short time ago. Enough to get some scratches and wear and tear, but not full "ongoing year-long" campaign battle damage. Guess angels have to maintain a lifted look
  24. If they ever release an FAQ (not holding my breath) the Veletaris Volkite ones may be the unit that gets to Outflank in the Cohort Doctrine too.
