  1. Past hour
  2. The only other thing I thought you could do in Round 3, would be for Asterius to drag himself away (probably towards Amaras, and no Opportunity Attack as Gerhardt is still engaged), then Azadth to Delay, and then Gerhardt to also move away (either by Disengage, or even by using a Charge against someone else and using his Dodge for the Round to avoid the Opportunity Attack? If he attacked one of the Hordes, he wouldn't get a Dodge against them anyway, so it wouldn't really be wasted either?) Then as soon as Gerhardt is out, Azadth could take his half Action and put a Krak missile into Grubgob? He wouldn't get an Aim, but between the long range of the Armourbane and its bonus to hit a ground target and Grubgob being Enormous and no longer in Melee, it's still a pretty reasonable chance to Hit? To be clear, though, that's not a suggestion, just throwing it out as an option.
  3. Nice work on the sentry gun @Agramar_The_Luna_Wolf. Great pose on the veteran @Torbenos. The pistol is a nice touch to indicate his legion. Love a slung bolter too.
  4. Today
  5. So this is not necessarily the closing of this project, but an important Milestone. with these 2 designs done, the last of the GW made Primarch Hardcovers is done. Now To do Horus' which will be I Feel some time in the making. But first, a bit of a breather while I rest on my laurels of what I've accomplished. There will be more for a few factions or at least one's I've thought of so far. The Sisters of Battle, The Inquisition, The Custodes, the Orks, and the Necrons will all get theirs, in due time. I know which book covers I want to do for the first two, but the others..... well I'll get to them sometime. Thank you for coming along on this journey with me so far, and I hope you all love these representations of The Emperor's Sons. If you have any suggestions for additional factions or additional specific books, please feel free to comment below or DM me. -Tomcat
  6. I always love that John Blanche has such a different vision to the mainstream GW one. His idea that space marines don’t come out of their armour is really interesting
  7. This is exciting and unexpected so I welcomed it! After the Ynnari debacle, something I find very interesting but it seems forgotten for years now (where is the third damn book)? anything drukhari/aeldari related is cool. I will go for the normal release though. Can't seem to justify 65 € or more for LE anymore.
  8. Oh and to further note out to my fellow Shas'Os, carefully check your datasheets weapons as some will be different by slight amounts. It is notable that the Hammerhead and Skyray twin-pulse carbine options both lack the assault keyword while when on the devilfish they do have assault. I believe this can also extend out to various other weapons too, SMS seem to slightly vary depending on what platform they are mounted on. Oh and the comedy of why Piranha Fusion Blasters are Melta 4 but the Fusion Collider of the Ghostkeel is Melta 2 Silly details like that are something I notice...like how co-ordinated engagement enhancement from Mont'Ka for some reason specifically states the character it is given to only gains the benefit if leading a unit...Just makes it not worth 20 points imo.
  9. Easily doable I guess, how many gun drones does one have spare that you can simply slot em in to the Fish when needed ... I too have not played T'AU for a good long time either M
  10. @Orange Knight I'm running a Discord Imperium Maledictus Campaign with my brothers and some friends across the country (The USA is spectacularly large, so this is how we keep in touch) and doing a home-brew lore bit in the blog section. I'm using my blog to supplement the game and tell stories. As far as rubbish goes, not to sound confrontational, but I actually take quite a bit of time curating the images to get them as close to an accurate representation of the setting as I can. The above image went through 87 iterations before we got to something publishable, for example. I do the rest manually. I hadn't realized there was any issue with ai generated content. If the ai stuff isn't your thing, the maps took a bit of time to make and are pretty cool, I think. I enjoy engaging in the hobby in other artistic mediums than painting bros... but I have a lot of them too. Do you guys want to see my mountain of shame? It is also quite robust. I have a China cabinet full of unpainted models. Like I said, I hadn't meant to post anything. I was just editing my blog in another tab and debating asking the forum a question about prevalent stratagems in 10th for codex astartes (I'm flying out to visit my brothers in July, and we're going to play for the first time in a few years), and dropped the post into the wrong tab on my web browser.
  11. @Necronaut I don’t think it requires Cohesion: As a Passive Solo Mode, I have “free use” to it, even while in Squad Mode. Active Solo Modes require 1 cohesion point, but still can be used in Squad Mode. As per RoB pg 225.
  12. Brooks is a good ‘un. Lelith is in good hands and I’ll definitely be reading this one.
  13. @Mike Zulu come on down and join the party! I have a trick or two up Gerhardt's sleeve to hopefully keep him and Asterius alive in the meantime, but yes that servo arm will be nasty and most welcome. Edit: a restriction on you using your solo mode ability would be if you're in squad mode. Dropping in and out of squad mode repeatedly to use it would get a bit dicey since you would have to test against cohesion every time you wished to rejoin squad mode. I would probably advise against that.
  14. Every edition can be, has been, and will be, broken. GW is rewarded by this being true. There is a reason the base points have increased. There is a reason the FoC is gone. There is a reason bespoke character kits are pushed. It's not to make a better game.
  15. @Necronaut If we’re going the melee route, I’m going to have to get to you/Grubgob as soon as possible. At the moment it’s just your power sword and my servo-arm. @Lysimachus Looking at the Salamanders Solo Mode Ability, I can’t see any restriction on using it every Turn (it is also a Passive Ability). So if I want to put Proven(2) on the Servo-Arm, I can just do that during my next Turn? (Potentially I could swap between bolter and Servo-Arm every Turn) I forgot what Tearing meant, and giving the bolter Proven(2) is a waste.
  16. The resin Noise Marine Upgrades don't properly fit on the current kit. (You can make them work with minimal effort - except for the torso piece, that requires cutting and then is noticeably too small - but they're not... good.) GW is, hopefully, embarrassed and doesn't want to draw attention to that fact. If you mean why not paint some modern models in the Black + Pink scheme: they have. Or... at least one model. The Chaos Chosen box/website art has an EC marine as a secondary scheme.
  17. Intriguing. Last time I seriously looked at T'au was 4th Ed so things were different. I may still try and get some (without raiding Hammerheads) and not glue them so I've got options if things change. I like the idea of an upgunned Fish to support a Pathfinder Squad deep behind enemy lines (fluff wise at least).
  18. Honestly a far from expected book popping up that (potentially/partly) delves further on two storylines that have been on ice for a long time, that some (probably just me) speculated would both be looked again when its time to hype up emperors children.. only a day after the (equally random in timing) EC index announcement. Its hard to stay the ever skeptical me haha. This is not one of the plot lines I refer to, but had to immediately think about this short story : https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/10/21/psychic-awakening-into-the-voidgw-homepage-post-2/
  19. Rampager Looks Awesome Jud, The Colours you chose create a Cool tone to the Model the red eyes are just right !! There would be grass and mud on the Outskirts of an Urban environment (parks etc) perhaps adding something here and there to suggest urban like paving stones or a ruined Girder or destroyed objects, road signs... The easiest way I think would to make a half/corner or just a side part of your bases the edge of a path or road using plasticard or card that's done as chequer plating...and run the mud /grime up to overlap it... like I did here on my Orks... but with less plating in your case... Keep up the Great work and i look forward to seeing More Kroot from you!! Cheers, Mithril
  20. You don't need to have Apocalypse come back, because that's just baseline 40k now. Old 40k is basically gone, and now it's the same named characters smashing into each other all the time, somehow participating in every skirmish taking place over a supposedly galactic wide war.
  21. You and I remember 5th very differently then. Which I think is the crux of the whole thread. I started in 4th, and had a great time, then in 5th up until 7th I had a lousy time. Partly because the people I could play against were the types of people to abuse mechanics like scatter dice and vehicle facings. A potentially good mechanic that can be abused is worse than an average or poor mechanic that cannot, and that's a lesson I learned the hard way. I'm going to say this and leave the thread. I disagree that older editions were better than what we have now. I disagree that titanic units changed anything for the worse. I disagree that named characters of any stature aren't a good thing.
  22. I don’t commonly find myself agreeing with your takes, but you are right on the money here. A unit does not have to be “meta” after the dust has settled to warp the meta. The way that it warps the game might make the unit itself quite bad in the end, but this is a direct effect of the warping effect that it had, and this same warping has knock on effects on unrelated units. This isn’t unique to Knights, but Knights are a prime example.
  23. You keep saying previous editions were better. I wholeheartedly disagree. Templates were awful and easily abused, vehicle facings were finicky and when formations came in the game had to be hard reset with 8th. The only two things I'd bring back is being unable to harm something more with toughness more than double the strength of the attack, and still winning on objective points if you got wiped out. That's it. Apocalypse is a terrible idea to bring back, because just like when Imperial Armour had the "ask for permission" line most people just say no. Why play this whole other game system when 40k is enough? Yay for titanic units. Yay for primarchs. Yay for 10th edition.
  24. @Halandaar - That's a great Idea, Obviously because of that GW will never Implement it ... M
