Biohazard - I'll try get a photo with my mobile phone.  I might talk to my friend with the 4x Writhknight & see if he up for a game & also talk to the other friend to see if he will be about next week for me to borrow two of his Knight models.  I think so far he only got three of the five of his own knight models built.

 

On the knight, where did the chain mail hanging from the right shoulder come from?

 

It from the Ogre Thundertusk kit which I also use a lot of the spike bit from.  There are other part you could use like the horns, but I stayed away from that due to transport the model when I'm getting it painted & for gaming.  I think it from one of the shield/armour plates?
Also why the Knight in bits as well until he fully painted.

 

But there lot good part on that kit.

Just put this here & general how I paint my Iron Warriors.

 

Metal - I usely start with this first

Leadbelcher Black Wash, Pruple wash, Black Wash, Leadbelcher (Dry Brush with tank brush), Rune Fangsteel (Dry brush w/Tank brush), black wash (not heavy/light wash) this just help & shade any part the dry brush has gotten into & highlight with Rune Fangsteel.

 

Gold

Hashut Copper, Black wash, Gehenna's Gold, leave the above in the recess of the armour, Brown wash, purple wash Auric Armour Gold: Highlight

 

Yellow

Averland Sunset, Zamesi Desert, Yriel Yellow, Sepia Wash, Abaddon Black to tidy up the lines, Flash Gitz yellow for the highlight.

 

Browns

Mournfang Brown, black wash, Mournfang brown, brown wash, Skrag Brown highlight

 

Reds

Khorne Red, Mephiston Red (depend how your wanting the red to look), brown wash, Evil Sunz Scarlet: Highlight, Wild Rider Red: Highlight.  Again depend, you can add Sepia wash

 

Blues

Incubi Darkness, Sotek Green, Temple Guard Blue

I'm really looking forward to getting this unit into a few games.

 

Knights are great model to build & paint.  It well worth getting one as a center model.  Just plan in advance how you want to paint the model & just have a lot of cool theme & history.

I've only had a little bit time today toward painting the third Knight model.  Just highlight the Eldar Farseer trophie & start work on the shoulder pad.
I ended up getting a game during the day instead of painting.  Really great & tactical game vs Nids 1850pts, Lord Narach Delau slay all before him with the help of the Sorcerer Terminator: Nârik Gharrok, Herald of the 5th Grand Company.

 

So I'll be getting the third Chaos Knight painted this week.  Then after that just get the Rapier sorted as soon as my Forge World order arrive.

I'm going to try & see if I can get a photo of the 5th Grand Company (not included Lord of Skulls) during this week.  Just allow me to see what the army like now.  Try get that done mid week.

 

I'll need to add second layer White Scar on the letter & to the IW icon later today & also get some of the tuft grass added to the base so the model ready for varnish soon.

Second Thudd gun arrive today.  Also just place a FW order for the third Thudd gun along with the Iron Hands upgread & brass etch barb wire.  See about useing them in a game soon.

 

For painting & time.

 

Just planning & try have everything ready in advance.  So when painting a IW, when I'm painting the finial nuln oil wash onto the metal armour plate, I'd also get the brown painted before this.  So the model can get the wash & that help save time along with any other area I know will be needing nuln oil wash.

Best thing to do is to watch the painting guide on the Games Workshop channel over on youtube, recent Ultramarine one for exsample or see the Skaven one which show base coat the whole model - flesh, armour, cloth & then once that all done, wash with Brown wash.

Just check the video, all them are really helpful.  Just about painting cool models in a good amount of time.

 

For me, I just want to get my models & units ready for gaming as soon as possible.  While I enjoy painting, I don't want to spend three month painting one model.  For me I find that off putting if I'm having to spend to long painting a single model.

I spend Wed & Saturday getting my own models painted, these are two days I've set aside for my own hobby.  During those two days I want to try get a new unit, model or tank complete or that least near to complete where it only a few thing left to paint.

 

Even a hour per week can help out a lot.

 

Focuse - Pretty much I do not like useing unpainted models in my games if I can help it.  So this week, I've got a game planned with my Knights, but I'm having to borrow two Knight models from a friend for the 1850pt.  Those two will be unpainted as they are still trying to plan out how they want the models to look & how they want to paint them since it is sort of a one off army.

But I try to avoid useing unpainted model in games, again there somthing I find about this that put me off collecting the army.

 

Having deadline can help - standard gaming, Call of Chaos & event like Throne of Skulls.

I was hope to get a photo taken of the whole 5th Grand Company today.  But that will get done on Friday now.  I've been pretty ill with the cold since Saturday.  all yesterday & this moring saw me that the worst stage, not really been able to get anything done, but seem to start clear up by late afternoon today.

Once I was a bit better in the afternoon.  I've spent some more time getting the Third Chaos knight painted.  He should be finish by the weekend.  Some parts have been left aside due to cold - Forge World weather powder for exsample.  Due to sneezing/runny nose & cought fits.

Also allow me to see the model with fresh eye that the weekend if there anything I've miss out.

I was planning on adding this to the shoulder pad.  But the armour plate on the Nid look really cool, there lot battle damage.  So thinking I might add this to the hip of the Knight model & on the other side add a Marine hold in place with bard wire from Forge World?  While the banner part will be added around the model.

The Hydra - Yes, pretty much just going to town, train or going my gaming club for game.  Just amount people who have the cold or recovering.  For me Tuesday to Wed, 36 hour of that was the worst stage of the cold.  But since then clear up.  Just could have done with out it.

 

Because of that - While I was a bit better on Friday.  I did not mange to get photos of the whole force again.  Just did not want to risk trying get the models sorted or carry them & then go into a caughting fit.  But there Monday.

It did not go that well.  I took out my own army.........  Turn 2 the melta blast scatter back take a few hull point off, the Eldar Writhknight pick off the Knight that lost the most.

Turn 3 with three knight left, three blast scatter back......all onto my warlord...... my friend get point for me slay my own warlord.  Last two knight take on the Eldar knight in combat & stomp them   But left with one to two Hull point left & taken apart by the other two Eldar Knight.  It was Hammer & Anvil set up & relic mission.

 

It was a fun game & it was good useing the Knight army.........even take hull point off my own models........

 

Right now to get both Rapier Weapons Battery built.  Third one going to wait until next Saturday & try get some of the new Eldar models to use some of the Eldar rune, as said before just tie in a theme with my friend (not one I fought there) Eldar force.
Then I'm wanting to look into converting a unit of Khorne Berzerkers.

I use Forge World weather powder & I use MIG pigmint fixer to seal it.  I use medium drybrush to apply the powder, you get more control & just easyer to work with.  While I use a wash brush to dab the MIG pigmint fixer so your not unsettling the powder.

 

You'll need to build up the layer, I usely go between three to four layer.  So after each time you've added weather powder, make sure to seal it with MIG pigmint fixer before going on to add another layer of weather powder.

Just make sure to have some paper to keep any work area tidy & to put any left over powder back in the tub/pot.  Stuff I bought back in April 2012 is just starting to run out, that been nearly three year, it been use for over 20 IW tanks, Dreadnought, Knights & a whole Ravenwing army.

 

Also talking to Forge World staff.  The memeber of staff was really helpful when I was buying my first lot.  Help me with which powder to go for, I just let them know the colour I use to paint my base of my army.  Just lot of great tips.  Also worth picking up the Forge World model masterclass books, I think No2 mainly deal with weather powders, but both books are really great.

 

MIG Pigming fixer - There a model store in Edinburgh which sell this.  If you do use this, make sure to read the health & safty note.  I usely have a dusk mask, always have window open & fans on when I'm useing this.  Then try leave them somewhere to dry & again with window open & fan on.

Like the weather powder, the fixer I bought back in April 2012 still there & only just half left.

I'm going make this as a mini diorama, only true way with the IF being slaughter by my Iron Warriors.  Ether going to have the IW trooper re-loading a bolter after slay the IF or try get the hand w/Knife from the Sternguard kit & try make it all siege/city fight type look.  Possible base this around my game vs Dave from Throne of Skulls March.

I had a lone IW with Melta vs a lone IF with a specil weapon, it was pretty cool & just that sort of image you had.

I'm going to use this as a First Blood marker for my games.  There been to many times where I've nearly forgotten when trying add up point in my head.  It the same with Warlord traits.  Just that way your to focuse in the game & a lot going on.  General find thing like having the card for psychic power or the marker for my Familiar for my Terminators Sorcerer really help out.

 

This is going to be base on my game from Throne of Skulls Spet in my game vs Dave & his Imperial Fist army.  Just talk to him over on facebook about how he painted his own army & both of us rememeber how great the game was & how it has been top 1o best games we've had of Warhammer 40,000.
In the game there was a epic part with a lone IW & a lone IF pretty much duel it out with Melta from turn 2-5, turn 5 seen both of them slay each other by close combat.

Just bought this lot today.  I've got a week off some stage during March & just want to try get a model built & painted during that week as well as get a lot done/just enjoy having a week off.  I've really like adding the FW Iron Warrior front armour to the past few tanks so try order a set for this one as well.  Not sure if I will convert this Predaotr into a Relic Predator from Armour 13: Lost & the Damned or keep standard & try make it more command (theme wise)?  I use to have 4x Predator list back when IW where allowed 4x Heavy Support & always like useing that list in games.

 

Just a friend was saying with unbound about battle the 4x Pred list with Obliterators support for old time.  Ether way I'm just looking forward to getting a week off in March :D

Also how cool the new Bloodthirster.  Might add him to my army in the near future after reading today White Dwarf.  Eldar model - rune Eldar part being use for the third Rapier model for the base, as said to tie in with my friend Eldar army.
