    • Have been quietly following (and seeing you post on Reddit as well), just wanted to say what a great army you have! I didn't notice before but I love the little streaks of grey in Varn's hair. Probably hard to notice at arm's length but very cool little detail to include.
    • RAVEN GUARD – RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE DETACHMENT RULE Corax favoured descending upon his foes from on high and the Raven Guard continue to do so. The Unseen, named as a jest by their Primarch, epitomize this approach to warfare but are not the only ones to do so. Battle groups with member prone to the Sable Brand also often strike ‘unseen’, as Corax jested, ‘because the foe is dead.’   If your Army Faction is Adeptus Astartes, you can use this Raven’s Jest Assault Force Detachment rule.   RESTRICTIONS Your army can include Raven Guard units, but it cannot include any Adeptus Astartes units drawn from any other Chapter.   LESSONS OF KIAVAHR The sons of Corax have preserved the swift and deadly fighting style of which the 19th Legion was once the master. Most suited to lightning claws, these are readily adapted to everything from chainswords to power fists, the battle-postures of the Raven Guard are reliant on speed and feint more than punishing force.   When an Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit from your army makes a Charge move, any equipped melee weapons gain the [Twin-Linked] ability until the end of the Fight phase.   RAVEN GUARD – RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE STRATAGEMS   Shooting Phase Fight Phase 1 CP Armour of Contempt RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM The belligerence of the Adeptus Astartes, combined with their transhuman physiology, makes them unyielding foes to face. WHEN: You opponent’s Shooting phase or Fight phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks.   EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time an attack targets your unit, worsen the Armour Penetration of that attack by 1.     Shooting Phase 1 CP See, But Remain Unseen RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM To fight the Raven Guard is to battle half-seen spectres. Only at a time of their choosing do they step from the shadows to engage the disorientated foe. WHEN: You opponent’s Shooting phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks.   EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time an attack targets your unit, subtract 1 from the hit roll. Until the end of phase, the target unit cannot be targeted by enemy units more than 12” away.   Fight Phase 1 CP Sable Brand RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM Marked by a battle-brother’s eyes becoming completely black, the Raven Guard are prone to fighting with a cold-blooded determination with results equal to the most bloodthirsty beserk. WHEN: Fight phase.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes Infantry unit from your army.   EFFECT: Until the end of the Fight phase, add one to wound rolls for melee attacks made by models in the unit.     Fight Phase 2 CP Shadow Killers RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM The withdrawn and brooding malice of the sons of Corax can quickly turn into a fury with no regard for self-preservation. WHEN: Fight phase, just after an enemy unit has selected its targets.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army that was selected as the target of one or more of the attacking unit’s attacks.   EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time a model in your unit is destroyed, if that model has not fought this phase, do not remove it from play. The destroyed model can fight after the attacking model’s unit has finished making its attacks, and is then removed from play.     Movement Phase Charge Phase 1 CP Piercing Shriek RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – WAR GEAR STRATAGEM Modulated to mimi the hunting cries of the giant rocs native to their home world, Raven Guard jump packs create a cacophony that chills the foe to their very bones. WHEN: Your Movement phase, before you have moved any units.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes Jump Pack unit from your army that is not within Engagement range of an enemy unit.   EFFECT: After deploying from Reserves or completing a Charge move, each enemy unit within 12" of your unit must take a Battle-shock test. If the unit taking that test is Below Half-strength, subtract 1 from that test.     Charge Phase 1 CP Unerring Charge RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM The Raven Guard swoop into battle like dark-winged angels of vengeance. WHEN: Your Charge phase.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit which would not normally be eligible to Charge because it Advanced or Fell Back this turn.   EFFECT: The unit can declare a Charge.   RAVEN GUARD – RAVEN’S JEST ASSAULT FORCE ENHANCEMENTS   VOICES OF THE DEAD Those most deeply marked by the Sable Brand find it impossible to differentiate between the words of the living and the whispers of the dead. Fallen battle-brothers seem to provide guidance and aid from beyond the veil of death.   Adeptus Astartes model only. While this model’s unit is Below Starting Strength, you can re-roll hit rolls of 1 when making attacks with the model’s equipped melee weapons. While this model’s unit is Below Half-Strength, you can re-roll all hit rolls when making attacks with the model’s equipped melee weapons.   THE EBONCLAWS Crafted for a long lost champion of the Raven Guard, the night-black blades of these ancient weapons have remained viciously sharp through centuries of war.   Adeptus Astartes model only. Improve the AP of the model’s equipped melee weapons by 1.   RAVEN’S FURY At first glance, this jump pack appears little different to any other in the Raven Guard armoury. However, closer inspection reveals it to be a technological marvel, now well beyond the skills of the Imperium’s finest artificers. With miniaturised plasma-engines in place of traditional ram jets, the Raven’s Fury provides its wearer with a lightning turn of speed when boosting into battle.   Adeptus Astartes Jump Pack model only. The model gains the Fights First ability.   SWIFT AND DEADLY Raven Guard leaders seize every opportunity to strike while the initiative is theirs.   Adeptus Astartes model only. This model’s unit can be chosen to Charge even if they Advanced during the turn.
    • RAVEN GUARD – TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS DETACHMENT RULE The trifold path of shadows teaches the Sons of Corax to wear the shadows as an extra skin, and can move with complete silence even when girded for war. Yet they must also understand the limits of stealth, and know when to cast off its concealment in favour of headlong assault. At the right moment, deception must yield to fury, and secrecy to wrath.   If your Army Faction is Adeptus Astartes, you can use this Trifold Path of Shadows Detachment rule.   RESTRICTIONS Your army can include Raven Guard units, but it cannot include any Adeptus Astartes units drawn from any other Chapter.   BORN TO SHADOWS Accomplished in all arts of hidden warfare and the skilful balancing of stealth and aggression, to fight the Raven Guard is to be at war without knowing it.   Instead of placing units into Strategic Reserves you can instead declare units are on the Trifold Path. These units gain the Scout 6” ability. Designer Commentary: The Trifold Path effectively replaces Strategic Reserves. You use the points allowance to give units Scout 6” instead of being able to bring units into the game at later turns.   RAVEN GUARD – TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS STRATAGEMS   Shooting Phase Fight Phase 1 CP Armour of Contempt TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS – BATTLE TACTIC STRATAGEM The belligerence of the Adeptus Astartes, combined with their transhuman physiology, makes them unyielding foes to face. Shooting Phase 1 CP See, But Remain Unseen TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM To fight the Raven Guard is to battle half-seen spectres. Shooting Phase 1 CP Watchful Precision TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS – EPIC DEED STRATAGEM Ambush and stealth are empty doctrines unless guided by the knowledge unceasing vigilance brings; the Raven Guard seem to know their foe’s every weakness. WHEN: Your Shooting phase.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army.   EFFECT: Until the end of the phase, each time the unit makes a ranged attack against an enemy unit, it can ignore any and all modifiers to hit and wound rolls.   Movement Phase 1 CP Sudden Ambush TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM The Raven Guard strike from the darkness without warning, granting their foes no chance to react. WHEN: Your Movement phase.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army.   EFFECT: Until the end of the turn, your unit is eligible to Shoot and eligible to declare a charge in a turn in which it Advanced.     Command Phase Movement Phase Shooting Phase Charge Phase Fight Phase 2 CP Stranglehold TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM By the time the enemy engages the Raven Guard, their rear lines are already in the talon-grip of the Chapter’s covert vanguard, choking them off from vital battlefield support. WHEN: Your opponent uses a Stratagem.   TARGET: The used Stratagem.   EFFECT: Until the end of the battle, increase the cost of the targeted Stratagem to your opponent by 1CP.     Movement Phase 2 CP Preternatural Stealth TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS – STRATEGIC PLOY STRATAGEM The deadliest strike comes always from the least expected quarter. So taught Corax. WHEN: Your Movement phase, before you have moved any units.   TARGET: One Adeptus Astartes unit from your army with the Infiltrators ability that is not within Engagement range of an enemy unit.   EFFECT: Remove the unit from the table and deploy it anywhere on the table that is not within 9” of an enemy unit. The unit is not eligible to declare a charge this turn, regardless of other rules.   RAVEN GUARD – TRIFOLD PATH OF SHADOWS ENHANCEMENTS   SUPPLICANT OF THE EYRIE The lords of the Chapter only enter the highest chambers of the Ravenspire at times of dire need, hoping to commune with an echo of Corax’s departed spirit. It is impossible to say whether such an echo lingers, but all agree that a brooding presence seems to infuse the Eyrie. Of what guidance they do receive, no supplicant speaks.   Adeptus Astartes model only. Once per phase, you can re-roll one Hit roll, one Wound roll, or one Damage roll made for this model or a unit it is leading.   SHARD OF ISTVAAN Following the Raven Guard’s escape from Isstvan V at the outset of the Horus Heresy, Corax gifted each of his surviving Legionaries with a shard of his shattered armour. Though most of these shards are now lost, some are still preserved in reliquaries or worn as talismans, each one acting as a potent source of hope and courage.   Adeptus Astartes model only. Melee weapons equipped by this model increase their Attack characteristic by one. While this model is leading a unit, increase the model’s Objective Control characteristic by two.   ARMOUR OF SHADOWS The beautifully crafted plates of this mysterious armour articulate without the slightest sound, while its power pack emits barely more than a purr. Stranger still, a cowl of shadows seems to hang around the wearer, billowing like smoke when they move.   Adeptus Astartes Tacticus model only. Ranged attacks made against this unit cannot Critical Hit and cannot benefit from the Precision ability.   ENVELOPING DARKNESS The Librarians of the Raven Guard are amongst the most reclusive and unfathomable warriors of their Chapter. Stalking the battlefield as half-seen spectres, they bend the very shadows to their will, sowing fear and confusion amongst the foe.   Adeptus Astartes Librarian model only. Enemy units hit by a ranged attack from a weapon with the Psychic ability that the model is equipped with subtract one from Battle-shock tests until the end of your next Command Phase.
