Chamber Militant
The Military arm of the Ordo Malleus is a force of Space Marines known as the Grey Knights (Chapter #666). These Marines are recruited, enhanced, trained, and used in the hunting and destruction of Daemons. They use highly specialized technology and rituals to combat Daemonic threats of all kinds. They are based on Titan, a moon of Saturn, however, given the size and disparate nature of the Imperium, it is impossible to tell how many there are at any one time, or even how large the Chapter itself is. Rumor has it that the Gene-seed of the Chapter could be that of the Emperor himself, as he was anathema to Chaos. It is also said that they were founded around the time of the Second Founding, and were then formally attached to the new-founded Ordo Malleus. One of the Chapters leaders, known as Grand Masters, is frequently appointed a member of the Inner Conclave of the Inquisition, cementing the bond between the Ordo and its Chamber Militant.
Recruitment and Training Practices
The Grey Knights draw from the harshest feral worlds and warrior societies in the Imperium. Most aspirants are emergent psykers, though not all. They are then taken to Titan, where the process of selection can begin. Space Marines utilize psycho-surgery, bio-engineering, and hypno-therapy to a high degree, and the Grey Knights are no different. The most advanced techniques are available to them, and are used on the Aspirants, making them amongst the most powerful soldiers in the known universe. They have no fear and are hardend against the weapons of Chaos that would destroy the minds of lesser men, even other Space Marines. A Grey Knight's soul must be the diamond hard core of faith against which the blasphemes of the Enemy can gain no purchase. If even the slightest crack is there, the aspirant will fail, and with him may go countless lives or worlds of the Imperium. To avoid this, Rites of Detestation and an extremely harsh training regime ensure that only the most pure and unbreakably faithful enter the service of this secret Chapter. It should be said of the practices of the Grey Knights, that in nearly ten thousand years of service to the Emperor, not a single Grey Knight has ever turned.
Threats faced, and Battle Practices
One of the greatest threats to the Imperium is the Rogue Psyker. Through these men and women, Daemonic creatures can often find purchase in the material realm. These warp creatures, manifested and walking amongst humanity are what the Ordo Malleus and Grey Knights must fight to prevent and contain, for only a single Daemon can herald the fall of worlds, systems, and even entire subsectors. This is why the practices of the Grey Knights allow only the most powerful psykers within it's ranks. Grey Knight psykers are trained to an extremely high level of psychic mastery, beyond that of even other Astartes. The greatest among them take the field of battle in suits of specialized Tactical Dreadnought Armor, or Terminator suits. The Grey Knight, from greatest Grand Master to youngest Battle Brother, fight with the ubiquitous Nemesis Force Weapon, which allows the Grey Knight to focus his psychic strength against the Daemonic. These weapons are often forged into Halberds, but swords, axes, and most rarely, hammers have been seen in use. Nearly all Grey Knights also make use of Storm Bolters, these weapons are usually integral parts of the armor, and allow even a single Grey Knight incredible firepower.
Grey Knight Technology and Rites of Battle
As the enemies they face are highly specialized, so to are the weapons and technology of the Chapter. Having the full backing of the Inquisition means that they have the best weapons and armor available to the Imperium of Man. Grey Knights wear a special suit of Power Armor, known as the Aegis. It provides the same protection from material threats as normal power armor, but can also defend against those from the Daemonic as well. It is anointed and cleansed with oils and has hexagrammic wards interwoven amongst the armored plates. Grey Knights also wear specially designed psychic hood type devices that will prevent harm from psychic attacks. The Grey Knights are incredibly pure individuals, and resonate against the Daemonic. They utilize Rites of Exorcism against their Immaterial foes, and this makes their very presence on the battlefield painful to the servants of Chaos.
