I n the year of the 26th founding, a chapter of blue and bronze was forged from the seed of Dorn's chosen on the fiery, volcanic planet of Auton. Within a century of their creation, they were a force to be reckoned within the Ultima Segmentum. They were the Sons of Doom.
Brother Kew of the Fifth Company (Right knee and shoulder pad denote company):
When the chapter was first formed, the original colour of their armour was black, silver and white. After the chapter had passed the training overseen by Chapter Master Dermanus of the Hammers of Dorn, the chapter was swiftly deployed to the Gaia system, which had been affected by up-risings and had destroyed the stability of the three major planets in the system. These were Driax, Gaia and Holmna.
The chapter master, Cambrius Dolomitus, decided the best cause of action was to assault all three planets simultaneously, deploying all four of the battle companies. The second and fourth companies were deployed on Gaia, the most devastated planet from the rebellion, whilst the third and fifth were positioned on Driax and Holmna respectively.
The campaigns were a resounding success and each planet was stabilised within three months, leaving the Imperial Guard to cleanse the planets. The Chapter Master, Cambrius Dolomitus, formed his men into several small battlegroups, determined to prove the chapter's success within the Gaia system was not merely luck. But soon Hive Fleet Behemoth would end their dreams in bitter tears of remorse. As the chapter was to leave system after hearing a distress call from the Jarkesh system, a few light-years away, a huge assault was launched upon the Thunderhawks leaving the planet by a Tyranid hive fleet, which drove straight into the heart of the ships baring the three companies leaving the planet. The marines were caught completely by surprise.
Unfortunately for the Fourth, Fifth and Seventh companies on the Thunderhawks, the Tyranids hit the engines of the ships and they plunged into the jungle of Holmna. A host of Space Marines survived the crash, including the captains and a handful of sergeants but there were Tyranids on the ground already, waiting underground. Before the survivors were prepared to attack, the Tyranids struck with wave after wave, the stuff of nightmares to every human.
The local inhabitants, who survived the massive onslaught by staying on a space station above the planet, were left in awe by the courage that was shown by the survivors as they fought tooth and nail with the Tyranids with all the weapons that they could muster and find. It was said that some Space Marines attached blades used by the locals onto their arms as close combat weapons since most of their weapons were destroyed or rendered useless in the crash landing.
The captain from the Third company who watched the battle via a satellite, said that, "The ultimate example of courage was to watch my fellow brothers die when they knew that it was almost impossible to win with them being outnumbered against hoards of monsters attacking them. The Imperium should recognize this act of courage and honour them."
Of the marines that fought at the battle of Fernus Ridge, only 18 survived of which seven were from the Fourth Company, six from the Fifth Company and five from the Seventh Company. These heroes were immediately promoted to the First Company with supreme honour and respect. Three of the survivors who were mortally wounded during the fight, were placed into the sarcophagi of three Dreadnoughts known as Vengeance, Justice and Faith who whose earlier occupants had been killed in the initial impact into the ground of Holmna. They are still inside the metal war machines and have brought much vengeance and death upon the Tyranids and other enemies of the Imperium. None of the three captains survived. A handful of inhabitants from Holmna survived on a space station that oversaw the planet. They were devastated to see their planet being ravaged and devoured by the Tyranid menace that all humans have come to fear. Chapter Master Cambrius Dolomitus was shocked and devastated to hear that his chapter had almost been cut to a third by the Tyranid onslaught. He ordered for all of his men to make a massive assault onto the Tyranids on the planet. The chapter fought with a newfound lust for victory and revenge onto the Tyranid horde. The Space Marines wiped out the Tyranid infestation on the ground with drop pod assaults and cleansed the planet of the reptilian filth with enormous firepower.
The Chapter Master soon declared after the battle, that in honour of the chapter's companies that fell on that day, the chapter's colours will change to form the heraldry of the three captains and their companies, of which were dark blue, tin and black. The blue and tin was used for the main armour of the Marines, with it being halved amongst the main areas of the body. The black was added onto the trims of the pads and the vents of the helmets. The chapter still maintains those colours today. The standards of the fallen three companies were recovered from the mangled wreckage of the Thunderhawks. They now lie in the chapel of their fortress on the moon of the volcanic planet of Auton, where any initiate can observe the burnt and holed standards to give their respect. The armour that could be found of the fallen Marines is also kept in the chapel for all to observe the horrific damage on their armour.
After the battle, the Chapter Master could not forgive himself for losing his three companies by spreading his forces too thinly. It took him many years of repenting and counselling from the Master of Sanctity to make him realize that his marines died the way they would have wanted; fighting for the Emperor as soldiers on the field of battle, fighting with courage and honour. After he came to terms with the loss, Cambrius developed a newfound hope that he has with him today. He now waits for the next battle with his new archenemy and to annihilate them. When the three companies that were wiped out in the onslaught were restored back to full strength, many years later. New banners were made for the companies, displaying the gauntlets of the three captains who led their companies' survivors to the death, with the planet of Holmna in the background. The Marines that now form those companies feel ultimately honoured to fight in the fabled companies who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the Emperor. The loss is still felt amongst the original members of the chapter, including the 18 who survived.
The Marines that remain from that day now throw themselves headlong at the foe, in a frenzied quest to meet their fallen battle brethren who have already been given the Emperor's Peace. In the chapel as well, there are crypts of the bodies that could be found from Holmna and were split into three chambers for each company. The Dreadnoughts also lie in there, waiting for their next call of duty as they rest with their fallen comrades.
Chapter Master Cambrius Dolomitus The Chapter Master of the Sons of Doom, Cambrius Dolomitus is a man of great respect and leadership. His face bears hold to many scars from the Tyranids and other Xenos bordered by his short, jet-black hair.
His eyes were replaced many years ago with bionics after they were burned out of his skull by the Heretic chapter of the Hatred's Tools. His enormous storm shield and thunder hammer, known as the Doom-strike is greatly feared throughout his enemies as are his twin lightning claws that were forged from the metals of Auton by the Chief Techmarine, Obsidious Zicronius, which are known as the Fire Claws due tro the orange glow the make when activated, symbolising the fiery heart of Auton and the Sons of Doom.
The Battle for the Erdavus System
S even years later, the chapter, still undermanned due to the losses beforehand, joined a fellow novice chapter called the "Heralds of Vandemar", whom, with their quartered bright blue and silver power armour, could be seen many miles away. The chapter master, Andesus Dermanus, was a very close friend to the Sons of Doom chapter master. Both had fought together in their predeceasing chapter, the Imperial Fists as captains and both were called to found their chapters, whom they admire and treasure. They were sent to cleanse a system called the Erdavus system. An old enemy was found to be the xenos they were to cleanse, the Tyranids.
The two chapters were said to look as though they were one fighting chapter, fighting shoulder pad to shoulder pad, working together as if they were a singular chapter. The first three planets were cleansed in six months, leaving only two left, Erdavus IV and V. When the Sons of Doom landed in Thunderhawks after the Heralds had cleared a path, the two Chapter Masters decided to drop down to the surface to give a morale boost to the Marines. With a newfound sense of courage, the two chapters eradicated the xenos relatively quickly and a final battle was looming ahead.
The two chapters stopped at a ridge, with the Tyranids on the other side. The Space Marines were waiting for orders to advance. Dolomitus sent the message to his First company captain that the Sons were to attack. A tumultuous roar from the Sons of Doom was heard as though they were only standing metres away. The Heralds stood back, watching in awe as the Sons of Doom brought justice to the aliens that had killed their fallen brethren seven years ago. The chapter was almost done when, suddenly, thousands of Tyranids of every shape and sizes with Hive Tyrants and many Carnifexes leading them, came over the brow of the hill and massacred over a company’s worth of marines.
The rest of the companies that made up the Sons Of Doom's strike force were driven back as the Tyranid reinforcements drove them backwards against the ridge. The Heralds of Vandemar could not believe what they were seeing and were almost unable to move in shock, but then their Master of Sanctity rallied his brothers and they charged down the hill at a tremendous speed. The charge wiped out many of the thousands of Tyranids that were cornering the Sons of Doom and the two chapters rallied together to clean up the rest of the Xenos terror.
Dolomitus was amazed by the ferocity and splendour of the Herald's advance and was claimed to have said, "I'm going to need more practice at beating Xenos the way you destroyed them within the blink of an eye!" Chapter Master of the Heralds, Andesus Dermanus simply smiled at the comment. The two Masters joined up with their respecting chapters to count the loss. Among the deaths was the Chief Techmarine of the Sons of Doom, Amorphous Karatus.
Cambrius was enraged by having lost yet even more brothers to the horrid Tyranids and went on a personal crusade with his First-Fifth companies on the last planet and destroyed the enemy there within two months. Aurus, the captain of the First Company of the Heralds of Vandemar was in awe of the ferocity in which the Sons of Doom fought against their darkest and most loathed enemy. From that campaign, the two chapters developed an even stronger bond between each other and still rally together to fight as one chapter when they are on the same battlefield.
The Black Templar's Terminator Suits
S ixteen years after the campaign with the Heralds of Vandemar, the still weakened chapter found a space hulk of Imperial design floating through space. The Master of Sanctity, Silurious, tried hailing them but received no response. When the fleet's bio form scans were complete, the reason for the hulks demise was found. The hulk was infested with Tyranids, the archenemy of the chapter.
The Chapter Master sent in his First and Second companies into the hulk to annihilate the Tyranids on the ship and they did so with apparent ease. This continued until they reached the armoury, where the Second Company’s Chaplain and his squad were surrounded by a horde of Genestealers and were destroyed after an hour of heroic fighting.
Terminator Archon of the First Company
The Second Company were enraged at this loss and destroyed every last Tyranid in cold, gene-enhanced blood. When the chapter cleared the armoury, an amazing discovery was found. 25 suits of Tactical Dreadnought Armour were found in almost pristine condition in a special store covered in faded oath papers and writings. The Chapter Master immediately came to the armoury to inspect this find. The chapter soon found that the sacred suits belonged to a fellow Imperial Fist descendant, the Black Templars. It appeared that the ship was a Mechanicum vessel that was bound to the Black Templars to help with a crusade that had probably ended many centuries ago.
Cambrius immediately sent a message to the nearest chapter keep of Black Templars, who answered very quickly and met the chapter a month after the amazing discovery. In that time, the Sons Of Doom's Techmarines lovingly restored the suits from their minor scratches and dents. When the chapter met the fleet of Templars, they were greeted warmly and the master of the fleet, Ramile Capulite, thanked the chapter and received the suits one by one in a sacred ceremony.
Morale for the Sons of Doom was at an all time low to know that being a fledgling chapter, they would never receive such wonders of the Mechanicum in a long time. A few months later, the chapter was fighting on a Greenskin infested planet where they were being driven back by their adversaries, when some unexpected black drop-pods thundered out of the sky and their occupants started to assault behind the enemy's lines, destroying the Ork Warboss, Kurgan the Fanged, forcing the greenskins made a hasty retreat.
When the dust fell from the aftermath, the two chapters met and the saviours of the Sons of Doom turned out to be the Black Templars that they had met before on the space hulk. It appeared that the Master of the Fleet was also with them and he had brought a special gift. Out of gratitude for recovering the Terminator suits all those months ago, the Black Templars were giving five of them to the Sons of Doom in trade for their services on their crusade, included in this, was a master crafted pair of lightning claws known as the “Fire Claws” which are said burn the fires of the forge from which they came from to cleanse and purge the taint of the xenos and heretic. Cambrius couldn't believe it and he immediately agreed to join the crusade and aid in any way possible. He organized an enormous celebratory feast for both chapters on the homeplanet's moon of Auton to honour the gift of the suits.
From then on the chapter had a very close friendship with the Black Templar crusade that gave them the Terminator suits. This would prove to be vital when they fought together in the Volinus Crusade.
The Defeat of Vespasius
A fter the chapter had finished their resting and refitting from their third crusade with their bonded friends, the Black Templars, the Chapter Master decided to start a new campaign against a fallen chapter of chaos that had ravaged and destroyed systems a few light years away from their homeplanet. They were called "Hatred's Tools."
The chapter started off well against the heretic forces of chaos and purged most of the systems with the help of the Angels Avenged. Halfway through the campaign though, disaster struck. The Captain of the Fourth Company, Allinus Harram, and two of his squads were cleansing a final part of the sixth planet from the sun when the Hatred's Tools launched an enormous assault on the commander in an ambush. One squad fell almost instantaneously from heavy weapons fire and along with it, the company's only remaining form of transport they had to escape, the Rhino.
The remnants of the squads rallied together with the captain and the veterans protecting him. Rashkal led a full-on assault against the chaos horde and wiped out the Hatred's Tools assault squad and it's champion, avenging his closest battle brother, Sergeant Krakus.
Enraged by the continued loss of his brothers, Harram let out a roar and roared the chapter's battlecry "AVENGE OUR FALLEN!" and led a last ditch assault against the remnants of the chaos force. His battle brothers fell from left and right by heavy bolter fire and assault cannons. Then Harram was hit by assault cannon fire, he fell to the muddy ground and he knew that he wouldn't make it out alive, even as his organs went to work, attempting to salvage his life. Seeing a hill ahead of him, Harram picked up the Fourth Company's banner and ran up the hill through the bolter fire and explosions to plant it up on the pile of boulders on the hill as he died by it.
When the rest of Fourth Company found the battlefield, they were shocked and distraught to find their captain dead at the hill with the banner held high over the fields of blood, torn armour and bodies of their brethren. The Master of Sanctity, Ordovicious Silurious, held a midnight service to honour the fallen captain and Harram’s squad were kept in stasis until their bodies were taken to the crypts deep below the moon of Auton, their homeplanet, alongside their fallen brethren from the massacre of Holmna 200 years earlier it seemed fitting that Harram was placed next to his hero, the Captain of the Fifth who fell at Holmna, Tomus Argentus.
The banner was taken from the hill and the brothers of the Fourth Company themselves repaired it as they felt that Servitors couldn’t repair them correctly or the way Harram would have wanted it. The blood is still there on the banner, woven into the read and is now even more sacred a banner to the fourth company as it contains the blood of their first captain.
Current Position
T he chapter are currently fighting in the Ultima Segmentum, where a Warp Storm had receded that had covered the planet of Uilidia. It turned out a few weeks beforehand, when the chapter landed on the nearby planet of Nomadus, that it was the homeplanet of a chapter, long lost to the Imperium.
The Sons landed on the planet, expecting to fight a rebellious city but what they found shocked them to the core. The chapter expected forests and fields where they landed, but what they found was a swamp of disease and decay. Rotting stumps stood where trees once were. Captain Amorphous of the Fifth Company, who was a veteran and survivor of the Holmna crusade, realised that chaos had poisoned the planet and he ordered the company to be on their guard, ready in case any heretics attacked. But the followers of chaos never came, what came instead was unexpected. Rotting corpses floated to the surface, disturbed by the Thunderhawks and they rose from their sleep and attacked the Sons of Doom.
The rotting corpses, who were powered by the foul energy of chaos, easily outnumbered the chapter. It appeared that all hope was lost. When suddenly, out of the yellow mist of Nomadus, drop pods appeared and out of them came Astartes, clad in green and red armour. Their symbol appeared to be a pair of golden wings behind a red skull. The chapter were the Angels Avenged. The new allies slaughtered the zombies with help from the Sons of Doom. In recognition of this, Cambrius invited the Angels to join him in a welcoming feast on his flagship, the Sword of Justice. It was during this feast. That Cambrius heard the shocking story of what happened to the Angels Avenged. It appeared that four companies of the Angels Avenged were trapped on the planet of Uilidia, in a warp storm that had raged for centuries over the planet. Upon hearing this, Cambrius swore by his blood that he and his chapter would help in any way to retrieve the four companies. He didn’t have to wait long, as the Captain of the Angels Avenged had received news. The storm had receded.
The chapter is currently racing towards the planet, with the Angels Avenged, to see what has become of the planet and the four companies who have been trapped there for decades. It is unknown what they’ll find there.
Homeworld
A uton is a hellishly hot, violent, volcanic planet in the Eastern Fringe, where not much life exists but somehow humans have managed to cling onto life on this constantly changing, barren and inhospitable wasteland.
The planet's surface is always changing, with new mountains of fire growing out of the black, basaltic ground every year or so, making it almost impossible for the Imperium to map this world. Only one place exists on this sphere of fire and brimstone where humans live and prosper. It is located in the north of the planet, near the pole of Auton. In this place, they praise their heroes in blue and tin power armour, the Sons of Doom.
The chapter's fortress is based on a moon orbiting Auton, known as Gravik, where they watch over the humans living and surviving on the planet, where living for 35 years is considered lucky. The Techmarines of the chapter created a force field over a huge area of land, with a gigantic building in the very centre of where the humans lived, offering sanctuary for them if an eruption occurred, protecting them from the pyroclastic flows and molten rock that spewed out of new volcanoes.
The human tribes on the planet, the Ordovicians and Silurians, praised the marines of the Sons of Doom for creating this shelter of sanctuary and peace from the raging world that existed beyond the force field. Every year, a competition is carried out between the two tribes, under the watchful eye of the Chapter Master, Cambrius Dolomitus and his Master of Sanctity, Ordovicious Silurious, who named himself after the two tribes in honour of them. The champions that win the tough, arduous games and fights were allowed to give their son away to be recruited by the chapter as initiates, giving the champions the ultimate honour of their sons joining their idols and heroes. The Space Marines would often train on Auton, due to its violent nature and unpredictability, making the reflexes and senses of the Marines as sharp as an eagle's talons.
Although some Marines were unfortunate to be encased forever in a tomb of rock and lava, they are considered as part of the planet and it is believed by the locals that they will rise again when their hour of need is at hand. Many Space Marines hold and trophy horrendous burns from unexpected vents on Auton suddenly turning up under their feet. Many Marines have bionics due to burns and their arms and legs being blown off by explosions from the fiery mountains, which they all respect.
The Techmarines of the Sons of Doom are often found on the planet, showing Servitors where to retrieve minerals and precious metals to create more weapons, vehicles and power armour for their fellow brothers. The most respected Techmarine, Obsidious Zicronius, is often found on the southern edge of the planet, helping fellow brothers and Servitors recover Haematite and Chromite for his forge on the surface of Gravik.
His fruits of labour are only given to the first company and the high ranks of the other companies, including the great Thunder Hammer of Chapter Master Cambrius, the “Doom Strike”. A tradition is carried out every year amongst the chapter, where whenever a brother has risen a rank, they must spend two months down the mines of Drokanas to the south of Auton, unless the chapter is called upon to defeat an enemy. This sometimes leaves some squads and companies commander less, giving lower ranking brothers a chance of leading squads and companies in preparation for battles ahead where they may lose their commander.
Should a battle brother be promoted whilst on active service, he doesn't receive the full uniform of his rank until he's "paid his dues" in the mines of Drokanas. He only receives a small marking on his left kneepad and where else is appropriate until that duty is done. Once the Marine has fulfilled the two months of service retrieving precious minerals, he is fully promoted in a ceremony watched by his Chapter Master; this always brings a morale boost to the chapter when these ceremonies are done.
The planet is infested with dark, winged lizards, known as "Black Raptors" which are extremely swift on both wing and foot and their fangs are deadly poisonous to the humans on the planet and even to the scouts and initiates of the Sons of Doom. This makes them perfect practise for the newly initiated brothers to hunt to sharpen their senses and to prepare themselves for close combating against the wickedly fast and agile reptile. To be proven worthy of being ascended into a full Son of Doom, the final test the scouts must take is to be left in the barren, rocky wastelands of Auton to hunt down a Black Raptor with only a combat knife and a jump pack with limited fuel.
To prove that they achieved their goal, the scout must then take the long trek back to the Barracks on the south pole of Auton through the dangerous and shifting environment with the head of the beast. Afterwards, the newly ascended Marine may take the teeth of the raptor and forge them into a blade, whilst others place the teeth onto their armour in what's similar to a necklace around their legs or neck. Some marines are known to go out onto the surface of Auton to hunt the Raptors simply for sport and so many of the veterans and members of the Assault Squads hold three or four pairs of teeth on their armour or fashioned into a great blade.
Geneseed
T he geneseed of the Sons of Doom is deemed stable but strangely, the Imperial Fist zygotes used for the Sus-an Membrane and Betcher’s gland have become active and are able to be implanted into the body of the initiates once more.
The Inquisition was surprised by this and immediately screened all the geneseeds of the chapter to see if it was still pure. No taint was found and it could be used for future generations of Astartes. The Adeptus Mechanicus has refused to comment on the situation. It is believed by some within the Inquisition that the Machine god's servants used gene splicing to correct these organ's deficiencies. If so, they must have been successful as no impurities in the geneseed has been found.
The gene-seed is obviously prized and protected above all else in the chapter and is one of the most armoured sections of the body. Some marines are known to integrate forms of metal onto their body where the gene-seed is kept so the enemies of the Imperium cannot destroy it.
Combat Doctrine
T he Sons of Doom rely heavily on the infantry of the chapter and normally fight in small five man squads. Each team normally consists of three bolters, a special weapon and a sergeant with close combat weapons. Sergeants are typically armed with only a chainsword and a bolt pistol, but these can differ in the first and second squads of each company. Dreadnoughts are very rarely taken into battle unless they are seriously needed due to losses or outnumbering. This is because chapter only owns three Dreadnoughts; Vengeance, Justice and Judgement, all of whom are veterans from the Holmna massacre.
Traditionally the first squad sergeant uses a power weapon instead of a chainsword along with a firearm. The chapter were originally very proficient at fighting Tyranids and other swarming types of xenos due to the fact that they were the only types of enemy the chapter faced for a century, apart from the forces of Chaos, to whom they have formed a great rivalry against a chapter known as the Hatred’s Tools whom were originally a descendant of Dorn known as the .
But in recent decades, the chapter have been fighting Eldar and Tau, so the chapter now uses a mixture of close combat tactics and swarming. This makes them a very good all rounder against other enemies, although they are weak against armies that can lay down heavy firepower
Assault squads often have chainswords equipped with a pistol but all Assault sergeants have gained Terminator honours and are traditionally equipped with storm shields and power weapons, the favourite being the power axe or the power fist. Terminators are rarely found on a Son of Doom battlefield as the chapter only has the five suits that were donated by the Black Templars and so they are highly revered by the Techmarines, like the three Dreadnoughts of the chapter.
Organisation
T he chapter is generally a Codex army with the Second-Fifth being the battle companies and the Sixth-Ninth being the reserve companies, thus leaving the First and the Tenth being the Veteran and Scout companies. The chapters differ however, with the amount of squads in each company. Traditionally, each company has ten squads each containing 10 marines. The Sons of Doom however have 15-20 squads in each company, where the odd numbered squad contains a veteran sergeant and the even numbered squad has a normal sergeant.
The chapter prefers to attack in small five man squads containing a heavy and special weapon, but two squads can conjoin together and work as one with the veteran sergeant leading and the second sergeant being second in command, taking over when the veteran sergeant is unable to fight.
Beliefs
Reclusiarch Kristus of the Fifth Company
T he Sons of Doom believe that they are the representatives for the defence of the Imperium, so they are well integrated with their home system and Auton. It is said that the chapter meet with their family members and they all gather for a huge feast in the Fortress Monastery of the chapter after the tournaments that choose the new members of the chapter.
The chapter thinks of the Emperor as the great master who forged the Imperium together so that all humans could unite under one banner. They also believe him to be a great warrior who’s the "Grandfather" of the chapter after their Primarch, Rogal Dorn, who’s seen as the "Father" of the chapter. The chapter received these beliefs from their Master of Sanctity, Ordovicious Silurious, who’s seen as the knowledgeable one of the chapter alongside the Epistolary and the Chapter Master.
The chapter take the tradition that every 100 years after their founding date, they declare a crusade to "pay their dues" to the Emperor and their lost brethren who take rest in the crypts underneath the moon of Auton. Not many members have fought in three crusades apart from a handful of veterans and senior officers, including the Chapter Master.
Battlecry
T he Battlecry for the chapter was originally a two-part battlecry, where the Chaplains would roar at the enemy “Death is a gift.” With the rest of the chapter then answering in unison with "Accept it!" and they would then start the attack. But after the infamous massacre at Holmna, which is deeply etched into the minds of all members of the chapter, it changed to "Avenge our fallen!" The chapter’s native tongue is Autonian, which is very similar to Ancient Terran Welsh and the battlecry translates to "Ddial ein meirw!" in Autonian. All initiates that do not originate from Auton are taught the Autonian language from the very start of their initiation, so enemies cannot translate the tactics of the chapter unless if they originate or have stayed on Auton, or are proficient scholars of Ancient Terra.

T he Sons of Doom get on very well with the Legio and are known to have submitted ten of their warriors to join the Legio over their short history, the most famous being Sergeant Cuprus of the Third company. The chapter has kept in contact with the Legio's members for knowledge regarding the Librariums that contain much needed conformation about other chapters and their traits that do not exist in the Sons' own files.
