IA DIY Chapter Location Map?

Recommended Posts

Whew. I've cooked up a better map for use. Sorry for the delay, Ghostlegion. ^^

EDIT: Here it is. It's a wee large though, but perfect for filling in details.

EDIT EDIT: Oh wow, the forum cut the size of the file in half. Tsk. Better find another way of getting the file to the folks that might use it. Imageshack, imageshack...

Awesome job GhostLegion!

If it helps any:

Emperor’s Blade – bang on!

Stormbringers – Tuphon: top of where grey meets red, draw a line between Dimmamar and Rehua I, half way along it.

Guardians of Paralios/Knights of the Black Rose – Thura Primus: cut the Eye of terror in 3 with Cadian Gate and Balanor as the other points, right on the black edge

Are you taking ITs? If so:

Iron Gods – Solios Nebula: top right of Seg Tempestus, directly between Posul and Epsilon Octavius

Wow. Imageshack doesn't like me, it seems. Let's try again.

I added some of the Chapter Planets that Ghostlegion already did (and added the route of the Azure Blades for good measure). Just a reminder, DIY Chapter Planets or fleets are marked by five-point Stars.

Hey, great initiative guys!

Dark Sons' homeworld Darkhold can be found on the map of the 5th ed. C:SM. It's to the left of the Eye of Terror.

Brazen Claws' homeworld can also be found in the Codex. Note that it's not the same homeworld as SCC's version of the BC. It is also marked as being ruined.

Just a quick point, Espada Azul: the Blades of Duty are the wrong side of the Eye of Terror. You've got them on the north-eastern border of Segmentum Pacificus rather than the north-eastern border of Segmentum Obscurus. They fit onto your map roughly in the middle of the triangle formed by K'Phra, Brycantia and Cypra Mundi.

Nice work on the map! :cuss Perhaps this could be added into the DIY Guide?

Whoops, let me correct that. I was working with Ghostlegion's extrapolations more than my own, so if the location we came with is off, do tell us.

Yeah, some of the locations for the Liber Astartes Chapters in the librarium are pretty vague. Are mass-PMs in order?

Second the above, borders would really finish the map off nicely.

Hope this is an ongoing project as once my chapters IA is of decent standard id be most interested in having my HW represented on this little gem of ingenuity.

Before I actually start anything, I need to ask... Do I keep the Neon-green color scheme I used for planets, or use something else? :D It's a stylistic decision I know, but better safe than sorry ahaha.

I think gold would be better. Also, would there be anyway to make the GW Chapter Homeworlds stand out? Simply to help those DIYers choosing their area for the Homeworld. After all they don't want to pick somewhere that's full of GW Chapters.

I suppose I can add legends later, for GW Chapters and such. This is very much a WIP, but something that's been on the back of my mind for a while. Glad someone gave us an excuse to actually DO it.

P.S. Ultima Segmentum is a pain. Seriously.

Liber Astartes Galactic Map Mk. II is done.

Changes:

- Borders to each Segmentum is now shown.

- GW Chapter Homeworlds now have an Orange-colored mark

- DIYs in the Librarium remain blue.

Is this good enough as a reference? Like Ghostlightlegion mentioned already, a LOT of the DIYs currently in the Librarium have terribly vague locations for their homeworlds or areas of influence.

P.S. Imageshack once again hates me. I'll give it a few minutes.

EDIT: Here it is~!

What I was doing was going exactly by the texts provided by the DIY IAs. There are a couple I am adding now as guesses and will relink once done. I would rather not go and place the GW named chapters that we at B&C have done as DIY IAs, but I may as well if I can find my old codexes...

@Espada Azul: nice work there, I think you found some of the same issues i did with severe lacus informativo for locations...lol. Its oddly amusing to try this, but man....kinda rough too.

I really like the idea - and the execution! :P

And checking the map closer I even found that you had already added my chapter - I take it the location in the IA article for Mycenae was easy enough to follow.

Great stuff, and thanks for the inclusion. :P

Ghostlegion: Yeah, it's rough. I know it's fun to be vague and all to avoid stepping upon official GW Lore, but still.

I think the mk-II version of the Galactic Map is pretty good already, don'tcha think?

Aurelius Rex: Yeah, the Scions were one of the easier DIYs to pinpoint. The others? Not so much.

Now that I realize it... My Chapter is pretty much isolated.

Looking at this, I think one of the big problems I am encountering is not having an easy way in the IAs to quickly identify which chapters are GW named chapters (Dark Sons, and Knights of the Raven for instance) and which are wholely orignial. I am much more comfortable marking the originals... If someone is willing to identify the GW named chapters quickly for me that would make this a little easier...

I am thinking about trying to recreate the C:SM map on the version I am working with all the chapters added there and making the GW ones in yellow with yellow text while the originals would be blue with yellow text. Hate to say it, but im diving through my whole library for cross-reference locations and information as not all areas of interest are marked on the maps...and a couple locations seem to move over the years....

@Espada Azul the one you did is nice, but the angles and the galactic cloud make it harder to figure out. I can only hope the locations I am coming up with are helping you with that version...

Ghostlegion: Actually, I have the sectored map you've been using as a layer (out of several) in the PDD file of the map I made, so yeah, it's pretty easy to triangulate where exactly each DIY Homeworld is.

Also I used Orange for official GW Chapters.

P.S. I also found it amusing that Gryphonne IV is apparently located in two places at the same time ahaha.

Ah...now just to add in the additional sub sectors from mine to yours and it will be even easier to locate things....

btw, Zel Primus (White Hands) I place immediately SSE of Sepheris Secundus and NE of Fenksworld in Obscurus...huray for having Dark Heresy in my library....and Niobe (Astral Hawks) I think is SW of V'RUN and N of DELIVERANCE in Tempestus...though i see youve placed that differently, but close...

Added to mine as well. I think I'll wait for some more verification before I submit a newer version of the 'pretty' Galactic map though. Since Imageshack can't apparently handle massive file sizes...

ha...but imageshack at least allowed a 1.5mb file! unlike photobucket....still...that is another reason to use the less refined verison of the map. it may not be as pretty but it does the trick.

If you want, I could email you the pdd im working with...it seems your photoshop fu is far stronger than mine...
