Heh, Necron Abyss sounds familar. IIRC, i used the same paint to get the blue done on my TS model. I'll definitely agree that the coverage is great, although i can't say i noticed much of an odour, although i do paint from a palette.

I assume you'll keep the Necron Abyss as the base and just highlight that layer?

Yes, highlights are done with a mix of Regal Blue and Enchanted Blue. They come out a bit too dark, even after several layers but I will adjust for later pieces. This one will have to make do with being dark. ;)

Here's the legs and the base as they look now:

I've used a modification of my old gold recipe. It looks a bit too 'brass-y' in the shot though (which isn't the case in real life).

Edit: I forgot, next update will be within 3 days. Work is a bit hectic at the moment.

Argh, mixing paints, the bane of my existance B)

Looking great thus far Nihm, and the highlights look great (without being too bright).

What type of gold recipe are you using? I'm STILL trying to get a decent gold coverage happening and i still find that im missing the mark.

I don't know if you considered this Nihm, but instead od going overboard with highlights for Night Lords who should be dark and grim, I would leave the highlights the way thay are now and shade the armor.

Try using chaos black/ water in a 1:15 mix or so. By starting each coat of black juice ( whith that much water, you can hardly call that paint anymore) a little bit closer to each crease in the armor, you get a smooth effect and a nice shading to darken your bats of evil.

Or in fact, do whatever you will 'cause they're your models ;) I just prefer dark NL...

My 2 cents, have a good giggedy!

Gold is currently:

Scorched Brown, VGC Glorious Gold, water - 2:1:2

Scorched Brown, VGC Glorious Gold, water - 1:2:2

VGC Glorius Gold, water - 2:3

VGC Glorius Gold, Chainmail, water - 1:2:2

I'll try to keep them relatively on par with the existing marines, just a tad darker.

The lord though, he's going to be dark as hell. :)

And as for progress:

(I really need to get better lighting, the shells looks like.. ahem :P)

Next update: Within 2 days.

Do the magnets hold well? I mean, RE mags tend to have some good pull, but can you jostle it a bit without them falling off?
They do, the only concern I have is that the weight of the combi-weapon arms plus the shoulder pad may cause the arm to 'droop' a little.

We'll see. :(

Here's the update:

Helmet is done, complete with terror markings.

I was tempted to do lightning bolts across the helmet but decided against it.

Next update: tomorrow.

I have no idea how you do it Nihm, but you make it look so easy!

Looking great thus far!!

After having done magnetised terminators myself, i havent had any particular issues of arms randomly falling off from the bodies, and i noticed it takes a good amount of force to pull the torso and arms apart.

pics from the side!!! I want a better look at the terror markings
Nothing major this time around, just a few streaks of white.

But I'll take more pictures when I get off from work. :)

looks great Nihm, when do you expect to have them done? and how will they be armed?

I second the motion for side pics for a better view of the terror markings.l

luther..

They should be done sometime before the 42nd millennia.

Seriously though, I'm a notoriously slow painter but I hope to have them all done at the same rate that I'm going now, so within 6 months I reckon.

From the first post: ;)

My Mission: To assemble and paint 6 Chaos Terminators.

Default Loadout: 1 Chainfist, 1 Powerfist, 4 Power Weapons, 6 Combi-Plasma Weapons.

I have no idea how you do it Nihm, but you make it look so easy!

I agree, the arms stay on well and I have to pull them apart in order to separate them from the body.

Nice work there Nihm! Your Night Lords are simple great, always have been! Are you going to add any lightning on the chest plate though maybe?
Thank you very much! :)

The chest does look a bit bare at the moment, he will get more lightning on his shoulder pads though.

So I'll wait until I've mounted the arms, before I decide.

I'm currently painting the Combi-weapon and shoulderpad and will post a picture later today.

Looking great there Nihm. Nothing wrong with being a slow painter to be honest im the same, but you are a lot better than i am, hehe.

Loving the markings, especially around the eyes. Lets see some more markings. :)

Thanks, you will see more of them, I promise!

Today's update:

I finished the Combi-Plasma, it turned out better than I thought it would.

Metals can be such a pain to paint.

Here's another shot of the markings:

The first Terminator is more or less done now.

Those trophy racks in plastic are way too fragile so I'm debating whether to leave them off entirely or not. (I'm afraid they'll break during transport)

Here's the pictures that I promised:

C&C is most appreciated.

Looks great, my only critique would be to bring some vibrant color into the base on some of the larger flat surfaces. Paint up a few of the sides of the rubble to look like they were once a wall somewhere.

I think my favorite part of the model has to be the plasma. Looks great.

Absolutely brilliant Brother Nihm, love the marks as i said before, not to many either i think you got the amount spot on.

Personally i would leave out the trophy racks, the model is perfect as it is. :turned:
