Recommended Posts

Any help Would be lovely, so thanks for listening. :jaw:

Thanks very much for all this advice.

Just a little help- What can you equip a Warlord with?

And if Anyone might be able to help with how big this beastie is, that would be most appreciated! Maybe some schematics I could follow to build one?

P.S. I've signed up to that site you gave, now I'm waiting for help

By the information you give, I'm supposing its three feet tall.

ITS THE SIZE OF MY BROTHER!!!

I never expected it to be that big, so I might need EVEN MORE help now!

As for the Apocalypse rulebook, I thought that was a Reaver?

What SotE says is right.

just wrap him in foil and put a box on his head, stick 2 little straws and draws a mean wolfish looking face

Instant Warhound.

on the bwc archive there is templates to build a dreamforge model that looks so much like a titan

if you have an account then go here

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bwc-ar...%2040k%20Plans/

then download the top file

the model can be seen here:

http://dreamforge-games.com/id41.html

i dont know why but the page can still be found in google and im sure i heard they had to stop making them due to the similarities to a titan

you could use them templates to buld one

i am not sure how big a warlord should be but acording to dreamforge it is 22 inches tall which is twice the size of a forgeworld warhound(10.5 inches)

i think that using the templates you could get the bits i see as being hard such as the legs, arms and basic body structure built

then the back would need to be built or if you wanted you could leave the building on the back but im not a big fan of that

i saw someone on warseer do it which makes me want to do it when i have more free time(and cheaper plasticard)

Well, knowing that there's a fierce debate going on about it's size, I mean that as long as you have an eye for details, size doesn't matter. Let's say you're going to build one, and settle down on a height of 600 mm. It's not THAT enormous, but hey, it's big enough to scare the bejesus out of an marine mini which is only 28 mm tall. You'll probably go for Cities of Death bits like the manufactorum and administratum building tiles to give the armour plates some detail, and you will more than likely use a staggering amount of plasticard sheets and tubes to scratchbuild pneumatic systems, basic armour plates, and maybe even build a detailed "Command Deck" in the Warlord's head.

Just be sure to carefully plan your building set-up, maybe draw some "blueprints" to help you out, and laugh at those little whiners that complain about it's size. It's the quality that matters, not the quantity.

Size, eh?

Well, according to the treatise put out by Tim Dupertuis, who published a discussion and thought process about scale in Inquisitor #2 way back when. The gist of it follows:

"The exact scale of both WH 40K and Epic scale figures and equipment is somewhat inconsistant. 40K figures combine 1/35th scale heads and 1/48th scale limbs on 1/60th scale (height) bodies using artistic license to exaggerate for effect, giving us the artfully exaggerated figures we all know and love.

The scales in Epic Space Marine run from about 1/250 for vehicles to about 1/350 for Titans giving an average of 1/300, about the same scale as GHQ MicroArmor."

In the end, he came up with the following:

Warlord Top of carapace weapon 16"

Carapace 13"

Reaver Top of carapace weapon 13"

Carapace 11"

Warhound Carapace 9 1/8"

Eldar Phantom Head 17 1/4"

Fins 22 1/4"

Eldar Knights Top of head 7 1/2 - 9"

Gargant Top of head 13 1/2"

Stomper Top of head 6"

The final is that Armorcast upped scale to around 1/60th for their titans. The incomplete Imperator stands 40" tall... and is more than big enough, for a gaming piece.

P.124 of the Apocalypse book has a Warlord armed with both those weapons.

If you don't like that small drawing, try browsing through FW, and see what they currently interprete a volcanoe cannon to look like.

I still use the old Epic figs for the look - not as advanced nor as detailed as the current view of the weapons, but good enough, I suppose.

Okay, photos:

Here is one 40K scale Beetleback WIP with those weapons: http://www.tralfazsolutions.com/MegaBattle/Gallery012008/

Here is one of the correctly scaled Warlords with an oldschool volcanoe cannon: http://members.cox.net/mbiasi/battlepicts/...es/02200039.htm

I would suggest tht you just take a size of 18 to 20 inches as i have read in several GW pieces that a warlord stands 2 times the size of a warhound.

Remember its not really about how precise the size is , its more how it looks
