The History and Legacy of Dorn's Betrayal

I'm glad that I was able to make you care about Perturabo - although I will have to admit that Ferrata was responsible for script-doctoring the description of his death into something far better than my original attempt. :P Thanks again for that ;) Overall the articles have generally been written from the perspective of the legion in question, examining their motivations for what they did. There are also tie-ins with other legions, so for instance you will get a very different perspective on some of the key events in this IA when reading the Imperial Fist IA, but that is a way away.

The colourpieces are fun to write, and it is nice to shift from IA format to dramatic writing for a change. The colourpieces are also a way to impart information that even the IA writer is not supposed to 'know', or want to talk about, such as the manipulative Horus scene, which was a late addition after it was pointed out that it was not clear that it was what he was doing. After reading it, it puts his motivations throughout in a much different light... He might not be a traitor, but he is not exactly a goody two shoes!

I couldn't resist having 'Half-breed' Honsou appearing here, and again participating in an attack on a gene-seed facility. Of course, the motivations are skewed from the events of Storn of Iron, and the reason for him being called Half-Breed' are different, but it was a neat way to highlight things that wouldn't fit into the style of the main IA format, like the lie of what happens to recruits from the garrison worlds.

Next up... Iron Hands, and the other side of the story about the war for Mars during the Heresy.

I curse thee, Aurelius Rex, for making me like the fact that Dorn is a traitor :)

And shall soon curse you for making me like Iron Hands being traitors :( Soon I shall hate you Aurelius Rex...soon ;)

Serious I love these versions. Best fan fiction ever is no overstatement as far as I'm concerned!

The thing which I'm most excited about now is the artwork. I have images in my head of the fallen legions, the new word bearers, black legion and black templars and most of all the people of Ultramar. This alt-verse has so much scope for expansion and I love every bit of it.

Well, I know I'm repeating what everyone else has already said, but heck: Dornian Heresy Iron Warriors > Horus Heresy Iron Warriors by a factor of at least ten.

Next up... Iron Hands, and the other side of the story about the war for Mars during the Heresy. :)

I just re-read the overview, and I have this really semi-horrible feeling I know what's going to happen with these guys. No sooner do I decide I want to hear more about them, I skip to this page and find you're writing them next. ;)

I'm starting to think you might be one of the missing Primarchs.

Coincidentally, any plans for the fate of the 'lost legions' in the Dornian Heresy? I assume they're still lost - I'm just wondering if they'll get any mentions.

No mention of the lost legions here, I'm afraid. It is a big enough job to cover the known 18 without making things even more difficult! ;)

Hehe, it worked! :) By reading between the lines it should be simple enough to work out the overall arc of the Iron Hands, but I am putting in enough twists and tweaks to turn things on their head. The overview was intended to act as a teaser, with the IA's telling more of the story. In some cases you only get the whole story by reading other IA's as well! ;)

Sorry I haven't been responding in these threads of late - I have been working towards getting the first ten articles proofed and ready for the Legio Imprint B&C e-zine... A lot of things need to be done behind the scenes, but we are hoping for an April '10 release date. B)

More later,

Aurelius.

It's all good. I suppose since whatever happened to them happened before the heresy then it would have presumably been the same anyway. I was just being nosy. :)

April 10 is now marked on my calendar. :P

Quick question though - are the Iron Hands one of those first ten, or will they be number eleven?

When Aurelius says 10 articles, I think he means 9 IA and the Overview article :)

sorry but would I be right in saying Iron hands + void dragon?

That was my theory too! :D I'm already starting to wonder what they'd look like - obviously if they're serving the void Dragon they aren't going to be chaos marines are they? I'm also wondering about the role of the Sanguinary Priests in the new Blood Angels fluff. The whole organ harvesting notion could make them far far darker.

On another note, I think April '10 simply refers to the month rather than the day - April 2010. It's the apostrophe which does it

Yes, it referred to April 2010. :) We are collecting the original artwork and painter images together - the odd thing still missing. So we are still not sure on the exact release day.

Sigismund Himself has pulled together a 'teaser snippets' image of some of the various Alt-painter images which we will post here in a bit. :)

The cover will be by Aerion the Faithful - his take on the visibly rotting Sanguinius at the Ultimate Gate. :tu: It will also include art from among others, Badaboom - his corrupted Dorn has to be seen to be believed - FireLizard, Empty Bolter Clip and our own artistic Admin, madscuzzy. His take on the Ultramarines makes me wish that GW produced the mark 16 Damocles pattern armour they wear! :)

More soon...

Oh, and the Void Dragon? Possibly. ;) The story is more complex than meets the eye, though.

lol Im dying to read the Dark angels and Iron hands

I'd love to see a necron devoted chapter that make use of highyl alterd gene seed - something wacky like the "Pariah Gene" which makes then invisible to warp entities and thus a Major threat to psyker forces (aka grey knights and etc)

Artwork, painter images and articles for the first issue of the B&C's Legio Imprint - composing the first ten Dornian Heresy articles in a downloadable pdf e-zine format - are complete. We are currently hitting the machine spirits of the publishing software with sacred socket-wrenches to make it format the darn thing correctly. :)

Assuming the accursed thing plays ball, we will be able to make the publishing target of April. Now... where did I leave my lump-hammer? :(

I have only one negative thing to say about the Imprint that Aurelius is putting together. And that's that newcomers to the game will mistake this for the official Games Workshop Index Astartes articles  It is looking that good...

Well, looks like somebody needs to call GW. They can stop with the mystery now, we know who the two missing primarchs are!

Since all of the primarchs seem to have their specialities, I do believe that Aurelius Rex and Ferrata are the primarchs who specialize in awesome writing. An example being, of course, the Siege of Montrelus Tertius, early in the Great Crusade, in which the II and XI Legions covered the planet's information sharing system with pieces of writing of astounding quality, which led to the Montrelians declaring them gods, to which the Primarchs promptly responded, "You know those Imperium guys? They're pretty cool, you should hang out with them!"

Perhaps not the most expeditious way to conquer planets, but certainly one of the most entertaining.

No fair taunting us like that. ;) At least give us a definite release date.

Then I'll just have to mark the whole damn month, won't I?

Looking forward to the other articles, at any rate. ;)
