Space Wolf Razorback W.I.P

Here's the first pics of my Razorback

I had built the main hull previously but never finished it so the challenge seemed to give me the impetus to finish and paint it instead of it gathering fingerprints or dust. Now that I have finished (?) it , it will probably end up as a transport for an HQ or some long fangs - not sure yet

The extra armour was made using a second body from a Rhino. The studs etc were filed flat whilst the back was cut flat and the wheels removed using a razor-saw. I cut the exhausts out from the panels so that they would go over the ones on the existing bodywork and the added sections of imperial track guard as protection with the remaining exhausts behind them. Originally this was an attempt at extra armour without the cost of FW bits. For £10 you can get a complete Rhino (on the internet), less than the FW parts, and with some effort I think it has turned out alright - and all the other Rhino bits have gone straight in the bits box - bargain

The front armour and rear door plate are just more Rhino parts cut to fit. The gap between the original body and new armour was filled with 2mm plastic box section

Once the armour was finished I re-studded it using punched plasticard rivets and added the rear vents by cutting up the turret mounting plate that comes in the Rhino box

I managed to find some Wolf shields on e--y and them seem to fit with the Nightrunners chapter of wolves that I collect, so on they went

And finally the gunner. He is an attempt at making him look just a bit different to the others. The binocular arm is made from four seperate pieces with a set of imperial guard binoculars in his hand. Lastly I added a pistol grip to the storm bolter to finish it off. All the other bits are standard GW parts floating 'round my box of spares

Tonight I shall wash it and tommorrow should see it fully undercoated

Many thanks for the positive comments

(ssshhhh - eBay) The shields are OOP Goblin Wolf Rider shields. I just happen to like them and Logan's chapter symbol is the wolf howling at the moon. I figured something along the lines of rich gold shield rim, white centre and black wolf

Well it seems like ages since I posted any progress, so long in fact I think I may be wearing the 'banner of shame' soon unless I get my finger out.

Maybe I went about this the wrong way but I have finished my 'bonus' Grey Hunters before doing the Razorback. Only time will tell if that is my downfall. The 'standing' Grey Hunter in the second pic has magnetised weapons for maximum flexability goodness :spam:

So, here's the pics, and yes, I know I still need to do the bases  . Hope you enjoy

The Razorback is now fully undercoated and I have started paint on the gunner but not enough yet to warrent a picture

As always, C&Cs are welcome

Here is the second lot of pics, mainly to comply with the rules, but does go to show my slooooow progress. Saying that, I only get to paint in my lunch breaks so maybe not so bad after all.

The gunner is nearly finished - just the tooth necklace to go on the upper torso. The cupola neads to be finished but I am doing that at the same time as the hull, likewise the side doors and top hatch so as to keep the tones the same. The lascannons need to be finished followed by the main hull and then the details like headlamps etc. Hopefully will get this finished on time

I think the sleeping bag comes from the Imperial Guard tank spure, and the rope comes in the rhino/razorback box.

Havent opened a new tank box open in a while, so Im not too sure.

Also, awesome work on the razorback.

Really like the Grey hunter "flying death" pose. ^_^

Looks very effective. :)

First off, thanks to all for the positive comments

Ra1stl1n, the sleeping bag thingy is from the new style Imoerial Gaurd tank upgrade sprue and the tow rope is standard in the Razorback box set

g0atmilk. Thanks. He was supposed to show someone taking a plasma round to the upper chest. Probably instant death but you can never tell with these marine type chaps. It was great fun to model, just drilled a 3mm hole in the torso and added a bumpy GS ring to try and immitate melted body

Anyway, the main reason for this post is to add some better pics. Now the pressure is off I have given the Razorback a coat of Purity Seal and took some less rushed pics showing more details

The moon part of the decals in the pics has been painted over with heavily thinned Fortress Grey and then Skull White to make it look more moony and help hide the excess clear decal that always accompanies transfers

As always, very nice models. I really like the way you paint the wolves. Very much in the manner that I strive for. Clean with a second edition feel. You are able to add a touch of realism that I like.

Great job.

At last I have finished my GH pack. Although they were for a diorama I added them as an 'extra' to this challenge just to get them painted. Now that the diorama is finished I have re-based them to honour my 'additional' pledge
