The Angels of Retribution

Recommended Posts

Note: I know that there are a lot of words in this post. If TL;DR is about to kick in, I would very much like to hear comments about the models still. Skip the fluff. Of course I'd also like feedback on the fluff if you can withstand TL;DR. :P

So I've had an idea Successor "Chapter" that has been kicking around my head for a little while, and I've finally started work on the Chapter.

The Angels of Retribution were formed for the express purpose of hunting those who might discover the secret of the Unforgiven. The Dark Angels have a history of creating chapters for one purpose, such as the Disciples of Caliban, who were created to hunt Cypher, or the Consecrators, who were created to protect the heritage of the Unforgiven and entrusted with many Dark Angels relics. The Angels of Retribution draw from the ranks of all the Unforgiven chapters, removing the need to do any recruiting or raising of neophytes. Only veterans who have earned a place in the respective 2nd companies of the chapter are eligible for selection, due to the nature of the Angels of Retribution. The "chapter" isn't really much of a chapter, more like the Unforgiven's version of the Deathwatch (there's less than 200 marines). The Dark Angels and their Second Founding successors (as well as a few more successors) operate as a Legion, not as separate forces, so it really makes sense for them to have combined permanent task forces, the Angels of Retribution being one of them.

The idea behind it is kinda supported by the fact that the Unforgiven have created chapters before for one purpose only (the Disciples of Caliban), and that the secret has been kept after 10,000 years. Seems like there would be more measures than just "keep your mouth shut" required to keep a secret that long, especially when the Fallen keep popping up.

The Angels of Retribution are structured into three companies, the Fist of Judgement, the Blade of Persecution, and the Hammer of Fate. The Fist of Judgment is the Deathwing analog of the force, but is much smaller, numbering only 25 terminators with Dreadnought support. The Blade of Persecution is separated into two forces, each composed of 35 bikers with a small amount of Land Speeder and Dreadnought suport. Finally, the Hammer of Fate is three forces of power armored marines, comprised of tactical squads, devastators, and assault veterans (on foot and with packs).

Master of the Angels of Retribution and High-Executioner (Company Master) of the Fist of Judgement is Damion, an Interrogator-Chaplain of the Dark Angels. He is the highest ranking member of the chapter, and the head of its section of the Inner Circle. He answers directly to Grand Master Azrael of the Dark Angels.

The Blades of Persecution and Hammers of Fate, while headed by one Master, are separated into smaller forces to increase tactical flexibility. The Blade of Persecution is under the command of High Persecutor Zedekiah, a space marine from the Angels of Absolution. Zedkiah personally leads one detachment of the Blade of Persecution, while his second-in-command leads the other. Chief Librarian Elias, Guardian of Silence, commands the Hammer of Fate. Leading the two detachments he does not personally lead are two councils of three former Deathwing (or equivalent) members. These triumverates are referred to as the Stewards of the Hammer of Fate.

My first official models that I have built of the Angels of Retribution are:

Interrogator-Chaplain Damion, Master of the Angels of Retribution, High Executioner of the Fist of Judgment. I wrote a very short story featuring himhttp://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...ry2386041]here:

The long legs are to explain why a bike mounted company would be accompanied by Dreadnoughts.

I'd love comments or criticisms, brothers. I am trying to keep my Chapter true to established Unforgiven fluff, while also avoiding the subconscious temptation that seems to come with DIY chapters ("I'm gonna make my chapter even cooler than established chapters"). The painting will start in short order, I think. I just need to convince myself to stop building new members of the chapter. ;)

Well I love the models and I really like the idea behind the force too. Will they have their own insignia and colour scheme, or will they draw their members from the other Unforgiven Chapters and so have a mix of heraldry?

Another question I ahve is about the power armoured marines. You mentioned assault veterans and I wondered whether you'd actually meant that all of them were veterans? The reason I ask is that I was wondering if they understood their purpose - marines not privy to the secrets of the Dark Angels might baulk at killing off inquisitors and fellow marines. Are they all members of the Deathwing (and equivalents) who actually fight in power armour?

Overall, it's a really nice idea and I look forward to seeing those miniatures painted!

I'm actually considered paint schemes right now. The marines will keep a small amount of their heraldry (namely helmet color and chapter insignia on the left shoulder pad), with a main cohesive scheme throughout the force. It was really hard to settle upon something that made the chapter distinctive from the rest of the Unforgiven, as the Unforgiven chapters have used quite a lot of the options from the main color palette of the Unforgiven. Right now, I'm having a hard time deciding between two schemes.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj236/sesharp/Deathwing%20WIPs/spacemarine3.jpg

That's kinda what I'm going between for schemes. The marine is a former Dark Angel, and thus has a green helmet and shoulderpad (I paint my Dark Angels a little bit brighter than DA Green).

This is something that is kinda up in the air right now. I'm of two thoughts. Making the whole chapter Deathwing veterans feels somewhat like [Watch the language! If you want to swear, use the :) emoticon] to me. Because it's a small force, I understand that them all being veterans could be justified, but a whole force of Deathwing veterans seems to me like it would be a smaller one. Therefore, I've decided against that for now, though if you disagree about it being unrealistic, I might run with it. Like I said I'm of two minds.

Right now, my idea is thus: we know that marines are revealed the secret of the Dark Angels in steps, so I feel like I could skirt the line and make them all veterans of some sort without making them all Deathwing veterans. Members of the Fist of Judgement and squad sergeants across the force are all members of the Deathwing, but the main bulk of the Blade of Persecution and the Hammer of Fate are marines that have at least been found worthy of the 2nd company and served as sergeants or company veterans. These marines have not been fully inducted into the Deathwing, but are very close. The Dark Angels are stated to groom Marines for induction into the Deathwing from initiation with indoctrination techniques to prepare them for the shock of learning the secret. I think that these veterans that have yet to be inducted into the Deathwing would be psychologically prepared enough that they could undertake the mission of the Chapter with no hesitations if all they were told is "this individual or group is a threat to the Dark Angels, but more importantly, the security of the Imperium. They must be stopped." We do know that Marines will attack each other under certain situations, and with the preparation and reasoning stated above, I think that might be a workable explanation. What do you think? This Chapter is still in the budding stages, so input is definitely welcome.

Thanks for the feedback. Does the Venerable Dreadnought feel suitably Venerable? I don't want to clutter him up, but I want to make it clear what he is.

Well first (and with a Mod hat on), please watch your language. You'll see where I've edited your post. If you want to ask me anything about that then please PM me.

That aside, I think you're right about the number of Deathwing members. I like the idea of these being veterans from other chapters who are being monitored to see how they can deal with the actions that full knowledge of the Fallen might entail. So I think that would work.

The venerable dreadnought does indeed look suitably ancient. Depending upon your painting skills you could add more detail within the arches, such as pictures of the Lion, etc. I think he looks suitably impressive and I really like the robed head in there. I may have to steal that idea! <_<

Great stuff Brother-Captain Sharp, I'm loving the models and background stuff. I'd go for the green/bone/black scheme myself - the inclusion of the red just seems wrong somehow.

My own view on the secrets/veterans/DW thing is that traditionally only members of the DW (and in previous DA Codexes the RW too) were privy to that kind of info. However with the 4th Editions Veteran 'in-betweens' a little more latitude might be allowed I think - provided they are seen as being 'Deathwing in waiting'.

Cheers

I love the modeling you have done. Maybe I missed it, but what is the explanation for the long legs on the dreadnaught? It took me 3 tries to figure what it was because it through me off. Reminded me of the chicken walker in Return of the Jedi for a second, the AT-ST.

I also like the fluff you have started as well. Not to thrilled with the colour scheme, maybe because I don't see an actual mini painted. I don't care much for the split colour patterns that are done on other marines. If I had to pick it would be the first one, I don't care for the red on the second one. Maybe just DA green and black, but forget the white, unless it's suppose to be bleached bone white to represent DW.

It's a Dreadnought for the Chapter's Ravenwing analog, the Blade of Persecution. The long legs are to explain why a bike company would use dreadnoughts (i.e. it can keep up with them).

The white is supposed to be bleached bone, but has more significance than just the Deathwing. Both the Angels of Absolution and the Angels of Redemption have a significant amount of bleached bone in their schemes (AoA all bleached bone, AoR split between bleached bone and Dark Angels green). Due to their nature as a task force that draws from all the Unforgiven, I wanted the scheme to incorporate the major colors of all the chapters, yet still be separate from their schemes. That is why I settled on a quartered scheme, as it separates the chapter from the already existing chapters. A solid black could be mistaken for Angels of Vengeance or Consecrators, a solid bleached bone mistaken for Angels of Absolution, and a solid green mistaken for Dark Angels. This way no one will be confused.

Yeah, I thought the red was a little off as well, that's why I've decided to go with the black/bone.

From my reading, the secret isn't revealed until induction into the Deathwing, which fits your view. However, the codex does state that the Dark Angels subtly prepare all their initiates for the day when they are inducted. These marines are nearing the end of that subliminal preparation, and thus should be more willing to go outside the lines, so to speak.

And so this isn't a contentless update, here's a WIP of Venerable Brother Gideon, formerly of the Guardians of the Covenant. Most of the base coating is done (the line in the middle is purposely messy and ill-centered. I'll fix it after I am done with the Bleached Bone). The sword and plasma coil will both have a bright blue glowing effect.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words guys.

The Dreadnought is coming along really nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing it with a bit more shading and detail.

Have you decided how you're going to paint the arches on the armour?

I have just a thought on the veterens/normal/power armoured marines, you talk about these's troops are slowly being introduced to the secret of the Inner circle. What if they already have been introduced to the secret. Each person was part of a company/squad/team who during there last conflict encounter a fallen in battle or was the only surviver from a mission that happened to encounter the fallen. They had seen the DW teleport in engage what appears to be a brethern, only to be taken back to the ship with the fallen, to be intergated about what the fallen might have said or done. Before his is released back to his original chapter he must fight for Angels of Retribution to prove that he is worthy of knowing the Unforgivens secret.

Something alone this line could work as well. Just given my thought. If you want to use it go ahead if not then don't worry about it.

Well, I undertook a project. I had an old BT Land Raider Crusader that was absolutely worthless to me. It had been left in a car for a whole day in the middle of July, and had gotten completely warped. The ramps were literally warped into crescents, and none of the weapons would fit into their holes, as they were warped enough to no longer be circular. The sponsons were missing, except for the shields. The Multimelta was gone too. It was being given away free, so nothing lost.

Well, after a bit of work, here it is, my Land Raider Ares. I was able to get some of the pieces back into shape, and cover up the other areas that are still pretty warped. All that's left is some gap filling in the front and the dozer blade.

Seeing as how it started as an empty hulk with no weapons and a ramp section so warped it couldn't open, I'm happy with it. Of course, you can still see the warping if you look for it.

Very nice! You're right, you can see some warping if you look closely enough, but it's serviceable enough and a bit more filler ina couple of places may hide some of the gaps. Overall a good job!

Hmm, well you could paint the arches on both sides gold - it would contrast well with both the pale and dark colours, if you do it right. You could also paint small images between the arches. Simple images like a hooded figure holding a sword, etc. They could even be illustrated panels depicting the heroics of the dreadnought's incumbent. It depends upon your brush skills - they wouldn't need to precise, but could be suggestions of images.

I really like that idea, Gillyfish. I don't know if my brushwork is up to it right now, but we'll see.

Painting is on hold, as I am in a converting/assembling mood and I try not to squander motivation while I have it. Tonight, I built a squad of Terminators and a squad of PA marines. Note: the barrels with be drilled, I just don't have the bit right now!

First, the terminators:

Detail shots of the green stuff:

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj236/sesharp/Deathwing%20WIPs/IMG_0696.jpg

First ever full body robe I've attempted. I think it's passable. I'm waiting for the current stuff to cure before I do the back.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj236/sesharp/Deathwing%20WIPs/IMG_0697.jpg

This terminator was a part of a diorama I did using the Chronus blister. He still needs a little more detailing, but I'm happy with him for the most part.

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj236/sesharp/Deathwing%20WIPs/IMG_0701.jpg

Pretty straight forward model. Decided to get some SS love into the squad.

The terminators with modified helmets will get holes drilled into their sides when I get the aforementioned small drill bit. The purity seals were an experiment, and I think I can get them down with a little practice. They aren't hard to do. The one on the storm shield looks a little weird because it's kinda wrapped around the edge, but it looks okay in real life.

And here is the tactical squad, nothing fancy:

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj236/sesharp/Deathwing%20WIPs/IMG_0706.jpg

The brown bases I picked up for $.015 each for the marines from my Dark Angels Upgrade sprue kits and their the exact same size as a regular base. They don't have the sloped sides, but hey, they were $3 for 20. :D Also, the marines holding a bolter or melta do not have their arms glued on, just resting on the shoulders for ease of painting, so there might be some gaps that will get fixed.

Comments and criticism welcome as always.

I think I'll just start updating this blog at the end of every night I do something, instead of waiting until absolute stages of completion like assembly and painting, so expect to see a little bit of half-finished stuff. Hopefully, that will keep the updates frequent and I won't lose steam.

Wow! I'm impressed. That's some very good GS work there, Brother-Captain Sharp. Those terminators should look very good once finished and painted.

I also really like the tactical squad - nicely posed.

What is that Dreadnoughts sword from, I love that conversion.

Good work

It's the sword from a souvenir knight statue from Britain. Thanks for the compliment! :tu:

So, I've finished the IA for the Angels of Retribution. I'd love comments about how to make it better.

Origins

First spotted late in M41, the Angels of Retribution are a mystery to the Adeptus Administratum. No record of its creation exists, nor does the Mechanicum have any knowledge of its origin. Despite the Administratum's efforts to collect data on the chapter, little is yet known about the Angels of Retribution. All that has been determined is that the Angels of Retribution have been active on both loyal Imperium planets and in hostile areas, though the motive of their visitation of these areas is unknown, as they arrive and depart very suddenly, rarely staying in the area for more than a few days and sometimes leaving before a conflict has been resolved. Though this behavior is noted as odd, it is not sufficiently worrisome to warrant more than a cursory examination by any members of the Adeptus Terra. The Angels of Retribution have been logged as existing, with a note in their file stating more information is needed before any course of action in regards to the chapter can be suggested.

In truth, the Angels of Retribution are a collective Successor chapter of the Unforgiven chapters. Created in 807.M41, the Angels of Retribution are tasked with the preservation of secrecy concerning the existence of the Fallen and their treason during the Horus Heresy. Before their creation, a meeting of the senior members of the Unforgiven Inner Circle was held to determine possible options to respond to the growing threat of discovery by the Imperium at large of the Unforgiven's secret. The creation of a special taskforce tasked with hunting down those with any knowledge of the secret or those seeking after it was deemed necessary by Supreme Grand Master Azrael. Due to the interest of all the Unforgiven chapters in this goal, the Angels of Retribution were not created in the normal manner of successors. Instead, it was decided that each Unforgiven chapter would provide marines for inclusion into the chapter. These marines were to be the veterans of many campaigns, with differing levels of knowledge depending on post.

The members of the Angels of Retribution's Tactical, Devastator, and Bike squads are veterans that have been selected for possible inclusion into an Unforgiven chapter's 1st company. These veterans have been emotionally and psychologically prepared over the years for the shock of learning the Unforgiven's secret. Though they are not privy to the secret as of yet, their preparation has made them more likely to follow orders form their superiors in situations where they must attack Imperial forces, as long as there is a justification that they can accept. Due to their years in the Unforgiven's ranks, this justification can be as simple as being told the forces are a danger to the Chapter, and thus the Imperium.

The squad leaders of the Angels of Retribution and all members of the Fist of Judgement are members from the Unforgiven's 1st companies. These marines are privy to the secret of the Unforgiven, and thus understand the importance of the Angels of Retribution's mission. As such, they are willing and unhesitant to direct their squads to initiate actions against other servants of the Imperium if so directed by the leaders of the chapter.

All the chapters leadership positions are filled by members of the Inner Circles of the many Unforgiven chapters. These leaders are dedicated to the mission of preserving the secret, and were all handpicked by Azrael for their position. Their furor and determination in the righting of the Unforgiven's wrongs are what qualified them for their post, and they lead the Chapter into battle in a state of righteous fury, demanding that those who threaten the Unforgiven be punished for their presumption.

Homeworld

Due to the lack of recruitment for the chapter, it has no need of a homeworld. Instead, the Angels of Retribution operate from a chapter fleet of 3 Strike Crusiers and 1 Battle Barge. Smaller transports of many types are also used by the chapter to transport strike teams. This fleet of transports allows the Angels of Retribution to spread their By not having a homeworld, the Angels of Retribution free their members from any garrisoning duties as well.

The Battle Barge of the fleet, the Sword of Condemnation was originally a Dark Angels Battle Barge, but was re-purposed for use by the Angels of Retribution. It has a rich history and has served the chapter admirably in its ~200 years of service with them. From this ship, Grand Master Damion directs the chapter in their galaxy wide hunt for enemies of the Unforgiven, as well as leading it into battle in times of greater engagements.

Due to the chapter's small size, the Battle Barge is not needed for its large transport capacity. Thus, many of its areas have been converted over to extra weapon mounts, ammunition storage, redundant systems, and armor. As such, the Battle Barge has a fighting ability somewhat above its already impressive capabilities. This has allowed the Sword of Condemnation to strike into areas in which the orbital garrison might be prohibitive in other circumstances. The extra armor and weaponry allows the ship to hold off the garrison for long enough for the ground elements to accomplish their mission. The reinforced armor and redundant systems in particular allow the Battle Barge to shrug off hits that might cripple other ships of similar tonnage. It has developed a reputation as a tough, reliable ship that always carries its crew through the danger of orbital insertion. The crew has extreme confidence in its capabilities and does not hesitate to take it into hazardous situations if so ordered.

Organization and Battle Doctrine

The Angels of Retribution are structured into three companies, the Fist of Judgement, the Blade of Persecution, and the Hammer of Fate. The Fist of Judgment is the Deathwing analog of the force, but is much smaller, numbering only 25 terminators with Dreadnought support. The Blade of Persecution is separated into two forces, each composed of bikers with a small amount of Land Speeder and Dreadnought suport. Finally, the Hammer of Fate is three forces of power armored marines, comprised of tactical squads and devastators. All sections of a company answer to one Master, but are split so as to increase tactical flexibility.

The chapter organization chart works out as such:

http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj236/sesharp/Deathwing%20WIPs/ChapterOrganization.jpg

Grand Master Damion answers directly to the Inner Circle, and thus Supreme Grand Master Azrael. He also personally leads the Fist of Judgement on the field of battle.

The Angels of Retribution rarely send more than a squad or two of Marines on missions, as many of their tasks are accomplished with little resistance. For such missions, a force leader is selected from the company leaderships, and squads are assigned as needed from the three companies. However, on the occasions when the target of an attack is an enemy combatant and is in hostile territory, it is not unheard of for half the chapter or more to deploy together. As such, the marines are very familiar with fighting with elements of other companies. Due to their specialized nature and small size, the Angels of Retribution stress tactical flexibility, speed, and preparation. Many missions are executed with Drop pod assault supported by Thunderhawk deployment of heavy vehicles.

In larger engagements, if an Angels of Retribution force includes an element from the Blade of Persecution, these marines are deployed first to scout out the location of the target and hem them in. Once the Blade of Persecution has made contact, the element of the Hammer of Fate will insert on the perimeter with drop pods and secure the area, freeing up the Blade of Persecution to attack the enemy in weak areas and use their greater speed to engage the enemy in many areas. While this occurs, the Hammer of Fate element tightens the perimeter, ensuring that none in the area escape while also support the Blade of Persecution. When a vector of attack is determined, the Blade of Persecution will gather to press in on the weakness, striking deep into the heart of the enemy. At this same moment, the Hammer elements begin to fully attack the enemy. When the Blade of Persecution reaches the interior of the enemy formation, they all activate their teleport homers, feeding an abundance of information to their orbital element. Using this information, the Fist of Judgement element will teleport and drop pod (for the dreadnoughts) into the center of the enemy, tearing out their heart and crushing them against the marines attacking from the perimeter. Through this strategy, the Angels of Retribution are able to quickly accomplish their mission and move onto their next target.

Chapter Beliefs
Knowldge's Reward
“Inquisitor Therius Heytmann, you have been found guilty the crime of seeking after knowledge forbidden to you and dangerous to the interests of the Imperium and its servants.”

-High Executioner Damion, upon execution of an enemy of the Unforgiven

The Angels of Retribution are shaped by the beliefs of their members, who originate from chapters with slightly different beliefs concerning the Fallen and the Unforgiven's guilt. However, common to all members is a knowledge that those who seek after knowledge of the Fallen are a danger to the Imperium at large, as if the Fallen were made public, it would cause a schism within the Adeptus Terra in regard to the Unforgiven, hampering the ability of the Unforgiven to defend the Imperium against its enemies. While not as numerous as the Ultramarines and their successors, the Dark Angels and their successors still constitute a not-insignificant number of chapters. The Angels of Retribution thus see themselves as doing the best thing for the Imperium, even if it entails eliminating Imperium servants.

In regards to their Primarch, Lion El'Jonson, The Angels of Retribution hold a great reverence. In their eyes, the Lion constantly worked for the good of the Imperium, doing great things in the name of the Emperor and for the whole of humanity. Conversely, in Luthor they see the danger of placing yourself above the good of those you are tasked to protect. Thus, The Angels of Retribution are less likely to disengage from a battle zone if there are Imperial citizens that need protecting. However, due to their small size, they must sometimes accept that there is little they can do in a situation and forced to disengage or be destroyed. This conflict of beliefs and duties is a heavy burden to bear for the members chapter. To lessen the pain of abandoning Imperial citizens to their fate, the marines of the chapter on occasion commit to a battle that has no relation to their duties to the Unforgiven, instead fighting solely for the Imperium and its servants. While these campaigns are few, rare, and only possible when no targets are identified, they serve to strengthen the marines resolve and also act as a crucible in which to test the progress of the veterans deemed possible 1st company inductees.

Gene Seed

The Angels of Retribution, due to their recruiting from Unforgiven Chapters, do not have an individualized gene seed. They do not normally collect the gene seed of marines whose Progenoid glands have matured, only doing so if that marine falls in combat to return the Progenoid gland to the marine's original chapter. The Angels of Retribution marines are free of mutation or failed glands, just like all Unforgiven marines. In the purity of their gene seed, the Angels of Retribution see both a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that they are as the Emperor created them, fully ready to fight in his name. A curse in that there is no easy answer as to why the Fallen turned from the light of the Emperor, no mutation or failing they can blame their actions on. Instead, the marines must accept that the ability to turn traitor exists in them all and must be constantly guarded against.

Battle Cry

"Never to forgive, never to forget" -Unforgiven Proverb

"No sin left unpunished! No transgression left unanswered!" -Battle Cry

"Those who seek knowledge forbidden to them forfeit their soul to the Emperor, and must beg for forgiveness at his feet. The ignorant are to be rewarded, the curious are to be chastised and taught the error of their ways." -Grand Master Damion on the damnation of the enemies of the Unforgiven.

So what do you guys think? Comments and criticism welcome.

Great work. I shall give it a thorough read later. I like the fact you've included Azzy in his capacity as Unforgiven SGM – a nice touch.

(Also getting an image deleted error too).

Cheers

Thanks, I. I'm trying to fix the image that goes into the center of the two marines, but photobucket isn't cooperating.

I look forward to your full read through.

EDIT: And there we go. Should work.

Very good. I love the Dreadnaught. The colours are so much better on a mini than the computer SM. Excellent job.

I read the fluff a bit, but getting ready for bed so will read it later. I like what I read so far. Keep it up, and looking forward to more.

Well, after a sabbatical and everything being put on hold, I'm back. In amongst all the projects that never got finished are my Angels of Retribution. However, I've done some work on 'em and I thought it'd be nice to share and get some good feedback.

After looking at my tactical marines, I wondered what actual Veterans would look like, seeing as how they are all robed. My answer was more bling!

Not too much in the way of real converting, but it was a fun bitz bash. Also, I've started to paint my Terminators. Here's them with the base coats done for the armor. The color scheme is growing on me as I paint it.

They're actually a little farther ahead than that, but I don't have my camera right now, so I'll get some new pictures either later tonight or tomorrow. Also, I was given an early Christmas gift, the new Forgeworld Librarian! He's a gorgeous model, and will be used for my special character librarian, Elias. The model is so full of great detail, the model is posed amazingly well, and the armor design is awesome. I would definitely recommend it. I've started painting him as well (I have project ADHD), and it's been a relief to approach a simpler color after all the black and bone.

Finally, I've converted up my special character biker, Zedekiah. I really tried to make him stand out from all the other bikes I have for the army. It was difficult at first to think of ideas as I had no previous experience in converting bikes, but the project picked up steam, and think I did okay. Some more detailing might go on the back of his bike around the banner, but he's probably done unless you guys think he really needs something back there.

I'll try to get some more photos of my recent work up as it happens. I'd rather not let this blog die again. Thanks for looking.

Comments and criticism most appreciated!

Hmm, well I guess no one felt strongly about the models, either way. Well, you can't win them all. :woot:

And a little bit of progress:

The eyes were an experiment with the glowing eyes technique. I like 'em, I think. With just the eytes painted, they looked very dark due to the heavy brow. Elias is a Consecrator, I decided. It seemed to fit his Mark IV armor.

The FW Libby is a gem, as are your termies and Vets. The colour scheme works well. I'm not too struck with the biker and bike as a finished item -- maybe I just don't like choppers :) -- but creatively I take my hat off to you sir.

Keep pumping them out and keeping the blog alive.

Cheers

I missed this the first time around, but have just spent an enjoyable quarter of an hour flicking through, so thanks. I like the motivation and ideas behind it all, good job. The dynamism in the Terminators is great, particularly the one with the lowered claws. How did you bash together the heavy flamer in the vet squad, looks right meaty! And how is the long-legged dread coming along?
