Wow, massive threadomancy, sorry mods!

Heading to games night tonight and wanted to take 2000 points, when I realised that I've actually managed to get quite a lot of stuff painted (to a table top standard!) in the last 12 months!

Belial

20 Terminators (alright, 19, a couple of which aren't quite finished  )

2 Dreads

2 Preds

1 Vindicator

3 Typhoons

3 RW bikers and an attack bike (all RW vehicles are complete, but the riders aren't...)

My point being, I can field an acceptably painted 2000 point army. Having never thought that possible, I'm pretty stoked and wanted to share my giddy excitement!! Group shots below for proof!! (Except the Vindicator. And please note; the highlights on the tanks have disappeared in the photos, they look OK IRL.) Just have to start work on all my Power Armour now for when our awesome new codex lands in 6 months...

Very nice skink - it's always satisfying getting to play with a fully painted army. I find it creates greater immersion and your opponents are generally very complimentary about it too! So congratulations!

I'm getting some GW dice, so I figured I'd better have some GW to roll them for... Some of these are marines from when the 3rd Ed starter box was first released (e.g. bald head man). Bet they're glad to be painted...

2 weekends = 2 Tactical Squads with their Rhinos! Power Fist, plasmagun, multimelta. Undercoated and ready to go are two power weapon Sergeants, and a meltagunner without robes; would like to build one with also, but need another meltagun first...

Next up; 10 Devastators (2 Lascannons, 2 Missiles) and their TL-LC Razorback, and then a RW melta squad and a whirlwind, and then maybe Ezekiel... AND THEN 6th ED!!!

Agreed! Ultra dark green always works for me!

I think you should do some shading/highlighting on the bare face and maybe put some color on the coils of the plasma, but other than that they look bril :D

Thanks for the comments! I agree with the suggestions, just lack the colours!!

The face is Tallarn, Devlan wash, Tallarn highlights. What next? Would white and Tallarn mix work??

And what for blue plasma coils?

Cheers!

Well, for the coils I'd rather you'd avoid blue - I know it's the most popular depiction for white-hot but the green background is kind of clashing imo... For my Disciples (predominantly green) I went for the red-hot image of red building up to yellow (check out the dread in the first page of my log - link in the sig). Having said that I've seen purple versions that were jaw-dropping!

It boils down to your personal taste and what colors you are more comfortable using.

Edit: Just realized the picture is taken from the wrong angle - sorry for that... ;)

Cool looking army you have there Skink :tu:

If you like blue plasma and like simple methods, I recommend; White, blue wash, white stripes and HL, blue wash, white extreme HL, done.

If you like red then use a red was instead or the blue.

Cool runnings on the CMLs

I was silently counting 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... AND Stobz's here to defend the blue plasma! :tu: Truth being said, he has done somec fantastic blue on green, so taking his advice you can't go wrong...

Was thinking of blue by default. Bunsen Burner type hot... However, red would be a homage to the red bolter casings of yore... Hmmm, guess I'll be picking up some Ceramite White and some of whatever the heck the new washes are called...

Thanks for the positive comments all, these represent my first effort at power armour and I thought the results fair, so am really pleased Team DA agree.

Congrats on your TTP army :P

I'm in the same situation you are...there's nothing better than having a tournament (in my case, it requires 3 colours, bla bla bla)...looking at your models (which do comply with the rules) and saying... I'm going for a push!!!

We sometimes get frustrated by the great brushes we all know in our area or forums... and think "man, its not worth trying".

Guess what... they also started at some point.

Kudos to you for keeping the push!

Ok, so this will be my WIP evidence thread for the DA painting challenge. I'll warm things up with some shots of a Dev squad and their Razor that I completed ages ago...

Stage 2: Highlights and details.

Not one of my better pieces, but I was rushed for time and am shattered, so there we have it. I'm more excited about the next part of my vow...

Considering you were concerned about your painting abilities, I would say you've got nothing to worry about. The Landspeeders are nice enough that I'd almost consider using them myself, and I HATE Landspeeders! I must admit I'm not massively keen on the Deathwing Terminators but then I'm the kind of modeller who doesn't do kitbashing or conversions, so it's more a case of me being picky than anything being wrong with the job you've done on them. I love the Dreadnought though, some damned good work all round.

Thank you very much, it means a lot. I started 2012 thinking painting was a chore, but the LPC really gave me the bug, and looking back at those speeders shows what practice can do! Thanks again, and I think the Dread is my favourite too!
