PATH TO REDEMPTION

The Shadow Guard

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to all 13 brothers who ave kept there vows. Go and wear your white pearl with honour on your banners!

Number of brothers on their Path to Redemption = 79;

Number of Brothers who have earned their first white pearl of penance = 13

SG

...is there a list of those who have completed their vows somewhere?

/edit/

...looks like you're turning the text green in your list of vows on page one? I think that, given the length of this thread, having us modify the post containing our orignal vows is a....problematic way to have us report completion...Mine's been done for 24 hours, and I've been wearing the pearl, but you apparently haven't noticed...perhaps there are significantly more than 13 vows complete?

Well done on your completion march10k and helping us move beyond the dreaded 13 number!! :huh:

As for the reporting.... most have been reporting their completion with a post at the end of this thread. I merely wanted the finished photos uploaded to the original post so that it is easier for me to keep track of the completions. I do scan all the posts once a week to pick up any completions I had missed... obviously missed yours...another week of penance I guess.. :blush:

Just to share some insight in to thsi event...I started this as a low level low pressure event to help people complete their incomplte models languishing in their cupboards... my LPC 2011 vow of 25 DW temrinators haven't progressed beyond the date on which the LPC ended... I had expected around 10-15 battle brothers to walk the path with me.... which reminds me that i haven't actually made my vow yet!! :blink:

So we are now up todat:

Number of brothers on their Path to Redemption = 79;

Number of Brothers who have earned their first white pearl of penance = 14

Ah, that makes sense... I initially avoided posting at the end of the thread because of the instruction to post pics in the original post... I wonder if I'm the only one who was confuzzled?

...as for the low pressure...my fourth squad (tactical) is strangely missing exactly one mundane bolter marine. If I didn't have a house guest through the 29th, that would make an excellent "supplemental vow." Well, in a future month, I guess. Next month is probably the completion (three heavy weapons and a sergeant) of my second (tenth) dev squad...that'll leave me just ten tacticals (from the DV box-November vow?) and ten assault marines (on a store shelf somewhere) short of a complete fifth company.

I'm going to have to pull out.

I've fallen ill, and there's no way I'll be able to paint up my guys in time. I might sign up again next month, but don't see myself painting much for the next week or so.

Sorry, SG - keep up the good initiative.

No fuss about your vow.. there are more months and more opportunities coming up in the coming days mnths and years... our path to redemption is surely slow and steady! Hope you get well soon Payce!

Hey guys, I'm still trying to get this done. Some of you may have seen this in my AoV thread on the WIP forum, but I'll drop the post in here. This is my test paint figure almost done, and I hope to have the others finished on time, but it's probably going to be close.

The AoV decals I got from GW look good, but as with most decals on the unfriendly surface of the curved shoulder pad, Micro Sol is your best friend, softening the decal film overnight so that it would lay flat. Unfortunately, the AoV company numbers that would go on the right shoulder pad are too big to fit on the raised tac symbol from the Dark Vengeance marines. I think I have some old DA decal sheets around here somewhere, so all hope may not be lost in that area. (In fact, I did find some, and I forgot that the DA are white numbers on red, where the AoV are red numbers on white! >_<)

In my first post on my WIP thread, I showed a termie I started years ago in an AoV scheme with bone white chest decorations, but I was so impressed by the bronze and black on Chris Borer's AoV chapter master, I decided to go with that instead of the white. Not only does it make the paint scheme less harsh with just black, white, and some red, the patina on the bronze is blue-green which ties nicely into the blue line highlights on the armor. For the bolter, I decided to go with grey highlights to show that they are not exactly the same color, and to break up all of the blue highlights right in the middle of the figure.

When dealing with transfers on those curved shoulder pads you might consider putting the model under a hot lamp. This serves to get the transfer to act like shrink wrap and conform to the surface.

Micro Sol works wonders and also helps seal it to the surface. :)

I'm nearing completion with my Interrogator-Chaplain. Here are some in progress photos:

I really only have to finish painting the coils on the plasma pistol and do the basing, so this model is pretty much done. Could pass for table top quality right now, but no Interrogator-Chaplain worth his rank would accept such standards.

Thanks for fixing my link Master Shadow Guard. If you could, I'd appreciate you sending me the proper code in a PM. Congrats to Brothers Pueri and Cerroneth; now where are the rest of our esteemed Battle Brothers? The end of the month is fast approaching.

I have trouble posting pictures, could someone please share their knowledge on how to?

I have the pictures on my desktop in my computer. I then click on the Insert image button which activates a window which requires a URL adress. Mine do not have a URL, they have a location on C drive.

I, PhDGamer, filled with contrition for having neglected the First Legion for many months, do hereby vow to paint Librarian Turmiel from Dark Vengeance by month's end.

As a Librarian in power armor with a bolt pistol, Turmiel weighs in at 120 points.
