    • Just to play devils advocate (because I only work witth Crusade, so I'm not as in tune with match victory conditions), isn't it usually controlling objectives that wins games, not killing things?   And if so, what's the OC of a Baneblade or knight or Guilliman compared to the OC of the average battleline unit?
    • I agree the data isn't perfect. But what I do know is this:   34 players chose the DA supplement. This gives us the most data/feedback out of any chapter. Even game play wise, it's pretty high. So are a few of the others.   Of the 34 DA players I assume some are using the DA detachments but I'm guessing 50% - 90% are not. Of all the non-DA players I assume 0 are using the DA detachments.   In tournaments with 20 players or more (harder to skew results), the result is pretty bad. Keep in mind this is with the "Deathwing" getting cheaper and other discounts, but also gets hit with some of the base marine adjustments as well. (Let's be honest, there is no non-character in the DA codex that needed to be spanked.)   What I get from this is the new codex is still a bust. In fact, I think if you took the DA players playing Space marine Ironstorm, etc with Azrael out of the equation, it would be abysmal.  I follow the competitive scene quite a bit and we play fairly competitive in my main group and the base DA codex is really hard to function with.     I do agree though it would be incredibly helpful if the data had detachment 'tagging' or something searchable there because it does make a tremendous difference. GW has this asinine adjust rule where they won't touch dataslates but will change points. So something REALLY good in one detachment (IE: Inceptors) gets hit hard as soon as John Lennon does tremendous with maxing them at London GT. Now the unit pays the sins of the detachment even when it is far less optimized.  (just an example)   The detachment clearly is a huge factor in the results but we are blind to it in these results. However I really do think that the ability of DA to play any detachment and it still is showing poorly indicates just how bad the DA detachments/units are.
    • From my experience, It's not that hard to tell when It's being done maliciously because if it isn't, it's not a big deal. No one who isn't a huge dick makes a big deal out of using someone's pronouns, in the same way people who aren't huge dicks don't throw a hissy fit because, well, you say your name is Idaho but I've decided to call you Tiffany because that fits my perception of you better.    It's not like anyone on here can even get confused by how someone presents or looks because it's a text based site. I suppose people could assume based on the avatar but in that case I'm going to have to assume Idaho is, in fact, a super man from an evil space empire who is here to secretly take over the world when the time is right and welcome us all into the Viltrumite way of life. And that he also has a nice beard.    I know that it doesn't show pronouns on mobile, but how often do we really use them for each other? How often are you in a position where you're talking about someone on a forum they also go to? You already have to put work into using someone's pronouns that it would be very obvious. "Idaho likes Custodes, he's a real golden boy that one." Like not only is that incredibly awkward to write, it comes off as weird because Idaho is on the forum and can just read that, read that he's being talked about.    As the rules stand, I could go around using Fae/Fem or Ve/Ver for everyone and, according to the rules, no one could say anything and I could never be even talked to about it because the rules specify that misgendering isn't a big deal, and pronouns are only a suggestion.   Again, we know that misgendering harms trans people specifically. I feel like it's worthwhile to reevaluate the policy that states, pretty outright, that the struggles of trans people to be recognized as who they say they are doesn't matter.    I don't really have a comparison to make to try and help people understand this any better. I suppose I could pay everyone is your life to intentionally use the wrong pronouns for a year/perceive you as a different gender and see if that had any effect on you, but that's a lot of work and I don't have the money for that expense.    Like, if I went around casually calling someone the wrong name, that wouldn't be too hard to deal with I would think? And even if it is a bit of work, even if you have to talk to the person being misgendered and the one doing said misgendering, is that bit of effort not worth it to make sure everyone feels safe and included here?    If a trans person is willing to come into a community that, again, is often actively hostile towards them, publicly state their pronouns, have an instance where they are being misgendered and then also contact the mods, I feel like the bare minimum would be to listen and try to parse out the situation.    And I don't really know what misgendering someone on here would look like, because in my mind it already takes too much work to even address someone in a way where you're using any pronouns.   And if it did come up, the person who's being misgendering could report if it and you could just look at the way they're being talked about because to use someone's pronouns you have to be talking about them which I already touched on. If it does come up, all you have to do is quietly fix the pronouns. You don't even have to confront anyone about it because it shouldn't be a big deal. Oops, you sided he/him, let's just quietly change that to she/her because the person being addressed doesn't want to be called he/him and if they're trans being addressed incorrectly directly leads to some awful feelings. Like, no one whose a decent person will care even a little because it's not a big deal.    Like, I assume we've all accidentally called someone the wrong name right? Usually a quick apology, a little mental note, and moving on works. Same attitude here.    I'm not asking for the mods to police everyone's language or to walk on eggshells, but if it does come up, and if someone feels the need to report it, then we should extend them basic human respect and make sure they're being called what they want to be called.    And again, you've all been doing fine! I haven't seen any misgendering and none of the other queer people that I've spoken to here have brought it up. This is all about promoting the inclusive space we want this forum to be, and saying that if it does come up, it will be looked at in the same way as anything else would be. It's how we make trans people feel included here. To know that if this thing does happen, it won't be dismissed out of hand because ew, pronouns or ew, trans people.    That's how the current rules comes off. It's so incredibly dismissive to the whole concept. The pronouns we use, trans or not, are really important to us and who we are. It's like, one of the main ways we identify ourselves.
