what are you on about Ig-Sgt .. its there...and there isn't (alot) of spam, and only one Pop_up....
if you notice, if you click the link, in the top right corner, theres a box with letters next to it, saying to type the letters in... unfortunately, I can't download it because apparently my IP is being used... ah well... certainly does seem to work as far as I can tell though Thanks Kaaskop |

This is an awesome guide baa. This's going to be my first reference while I put my armor together, though I do think I'm going to try fiberglass.

Very awesome, Kaas! I like the picture with you guys staring down the Narutard at the end.
I've uploaded the guide to my server, too, in case people have trouble getting it from Megaupload (I'm not a big fan of any of those places). Mirror Site -------------------- ![]() The Bolter and Chainsword Librarium, home of: Lords of Oblivion (Loyalists) Shadow Acolytes (Renegades) |

I'm a little scared, becuase I'm very inexperienced when it comes to working with wood. Thanks for the measurements. Am I missing a section on the helmet or?

This is an awesome guide baa. This's going to be my first reference while I put my armor together, though I do think I'm going to try fiberglass. Way too heavy. The backpacks you see Boba Fett costumers wearing that are 'glass weigh about 20 pounds. This post has been edited by ChapterMasterTu'Shan: Sep 29 2007, 02:45 AM -------------------- |

Hey, read and love the guide you set up. i am in the attempt to create my own suit of armor. i just have a couple of questions. can you tell about how much everything was to purchase? because i am trying to look up everything i need for it but the sites i visit all require registration and some of the info i can't do like a company or something. another question, when working on the pieces of the armor did you just glue the chunks of foam on the skeleton and start detailing or did you do the detail first? i ask this one because i have the guide in front of me and it says "Now you can stuff the skeleton full of PU-foam, gluing it to the skeleton using the PU-foam out of spray cans that you can fit on a PU-gun." and the picture just shows the skeleton. Next, does the foam react at all to paint? i doubt it does because of the pictures at the end but i didn't know if you guys used a special paint to the foam. Almost done, i think this question should belong at the beginning but i just thought of it, where did you get your foam from exactly? Lastly, how big did you guys make the standard bolter? My friend and I want to just start off with standard bolters and i personally don't know how big to make it.

I have plans to adapt this general pattern to a Terminator suit. Rather than using wood for the internal structure I am going to use layered foam core display board (There are different grades out there, this will require the premium grade hard foam type) and insulation board type foam. I have done display and costume pieces such as this of different types and I have found that skinning the foam structure with a layer of fine grade fiberglass cloth. This material and process works exceptionally well for a light and strong structure and is used with regularity in R/C airplanes because of those triats. Fiberglass matting WILL NOT work well as it is heavy and you would need a thick layer to maintain any sort of structural integrity.
I can do a step by step process for those interested in good methods for fiberglassing of things including compound curve surfaces such as those found on Eldar armor. -------------------- Madness is like gravity... All it takes is a little push and you plummet...

How would you want to do the helmet? There are a number of ways that it could be done... The easiest of which would probably be modifying a full face BMX helmet with a bit of the padding removed for better comfort. It makes a good basis that will provide a long time of quality service.

Also was the helmet pretty breathable when you were done with it, or was it a little hot in there? Seems like it'd be a little hot.

Also was the helmet pretty breathable when you were done with it, or was it a little hot in there? Seems like it'd be a little hot. It does get a touch warm, but then any full body costume tends to. I am also a heavy fighter in a group called the SCA (Society For Creative Anachronisms) so I am used to the inherent heat from a full helmet. But to answer your question on the helmet, as long as you have the resperator area open and what not, even with the grill and screen it is still quite breathable. The heat of the costume is why I am having the power unit section house some light rechargeable batteries and some fans to circulate air through the armor. The grill on the back works perfectly for just that purpose if you take the time and sculpt it right. Something that also helps for prolonged wear at a convention is having a camel pack or some other type of fluid bag with a straw to your mouth. Water is your friend. Just make sure you give yourself easy access in your armor to use the toilet! -------------------- Madness is like gravity... All it takes is a little push and you plummet...

it would be great if you could build it out of metal...some light metal or alloy...aluminum...it´s light enough.

But when you said this, I got an idea of probably exactly how that suit felt. -------------------- ![]() "It is good that we have seen such terrible things. For now, death will be no great sorrow."
