Hey there,
This is my first post here. I have been visiting for a while though and am happy to make the acquaintance of so many Space Marine fans. I have been doing the 40K thing for about a decade now and have been a Space Marine fan for most of it. Ian Watson's Space Marine was the novel that really got me hooked, prior to that it was the grittier and more intimidating background they had during the Rouge Trader days. Anyway, this one is currently my favourite model so I present. Damael -4th Dreadnought of the Legions 2nd Battle Company- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The hull and legs are from the old Space Crusade Dreadnought. The Assault Cannons were put together using the new Raven Wing sprew, Terminator targeters (not mine I wouldn't hack them up O_o; ) and a Chaos Bike. (and just one note: Dark Angels were the 1st Legion. Glad you like him Ascantrax
I am referring to Damael as being part of the 2nd 'Legion' as in battle company (mainly to avoid connections to the Ravenwing which did not exist yet) as part of the entire Pre-heresy Dark Angels Legion. Usi -------------------- "The Astartes in war is a shocking, savage sight."

Ravenwing existed as a scouting force dating right back to Pre-Imperium Caliban, they make an appearance in Descent of Angels. After the Heresey they switched over to focusing on hunting down Fallen marines. No word for certain on if they were second company pre-heresy for certain though.

hail fellow Battle-Brother! i love your Space Crusade derived Dreadnought. it is a great conversion and i like the way its painted alot. i owned a couple of copies of Space Crusade and Advanced Space Crusade back when i was 12 or 13 and i thought the chaos dreadnought was a really cool model as well as the chaos androids. im now 30 and still enjoy the hobby tremendously. hope to see your tactical squad up on here soon. good luck getting a hold of a camera.
with regards to the Ravenwing, after reading Decent of Angels, it would indicate that there was a Ravenwing formation in the Pre-Heresy days and they were primarily a scout/infiltration type formation. i think they would have used bikes and speeders but their organisation was overhauled after the Horus Heresy** when the Legion was split up into the various successor Chapters and the Dark Angels Chapter proper. thus becoming the 2nd Company in all the DA & successor Chapters. but thats just my own opinion. **at this time they would have also been given the task of hunting the Fallen -------------------- ![]() +++ IN DEDICATO IMPERATUM SUPERNE ULTRA ARTICULO MORTIS +++ Battle Captain Ariel Company Master of the Dark Angels 3rd Battle Company: "The hunt for the Fallen continues brother until every last one of those that betrayed us is found and made to repent..." I barely slip by with "their not not toys, they are peices in a tactical wargame"' |

Well met Brother Kanan, Damael serves our chapter well.
I highly recommend pulling out your old Crusade Dreads if you still have them. They are really cool with a bit of tinkering. I am trying to get my hands on another one to chop into a more dynamic pose and slap a white Deathwing scheme on it. Here are the VDR stats for Damael if your interested. I have been pondering knocking 20% off that total as VDR is apparently about 30% more than what you would normally pay. (To any who would gripe: I am aware these rules have been out of circulation for about 5 years, I just prefer a little accuracy to the new Apocalypse technique.) Damael Points/Model: 209 WS 4 BS 4 S 5 Front 12 Side 12 Rear 10 I 4 A 1 Type: Walker. Size: Normal. Speed: Walker. Weapons: 2 x Assault Cannons, Twin-linked Heavy Bolters Special Options: Venerable & Extra Armour Vehicle Category: Elite Structure Points: 0 QUOTE Math: Armour facings: Front 12 = 10pts, Sides 12 = 20 x 2 = 40pts, Rear 10 = 10pts: 60pts Fully Armoured: 43-46 Armour Points: 10pts Speed: Normal + Normal Size: 10pts Weapons: 104pts 2 x Assault Cannons 35pts each = 70pts Twin-linked + 50% Heavy bolter 20pts + 10pts = 30pts Close Combat Weapon: 1 x WS 4 x A 1 = 4pts Codex Vehicle Upgrades: 25pts Venerable: 20pts Extra Armour: 5pts Total: 209pts Usi This post has been edited by Usiel: Feb 16 2008, 03:25 PM -------------------- "The Astartes in war is a shocking, savage sight."

I would think that 200 points was quite reasonable for 8 rending shots and 3 twin-linked heavy bolter shots.
The model is fantastic, though. Well done! -------------------- |

I love it! It's great to see the old Space Crusade dread- brings back so many happy memories. If I had a spare one I'd definitely convert it in a similar way to this, but I've only got the one.

Yeah you have a point there Ordo =II= Malleus: I have the complete set, but the Marines are horrendous they are not even close to the quality of the Dread. The 'Chaos Androids', Genestealers and especially the Traitor Marines are pretty nice though and I will probably paint them. Thanks again all! Excellent job, its always good to see the old models brought back to glory... Im actaully glad to see the weapons replaced with modern versions, since as much as i like the Space Crusade, i must say that weapon models of that era were... too un-imperial for my liking.

thanks Usiel for posting up some rules. sadly i have moved quite a few times since my childhood days and i really wish it wasnt the case but all my early miniatures ect are lost for all time. including my very own mint copy of Rogue Trader, and of course all my Sapce Crusade stuff *cue funeral symphony* anyways i will be sure to check ebay in the hope of finding a Space Crusade box set, you never know. but i think what you have done is awesome. great work Battle-Brother! look forward to seeing more from you. i will be keeping an eye out for your posts.
