This may be the first thread I ever started at the B&C. After too long a break I decided to pick up the brushes last night and finish off my Third GT Army by painting the Campaign Badges on. I also updated my website.

I've committed to attending Astronomi-con Vancouver. So some of my painting will go towards finishing the models needed for that, but most of it will go into making the Diseased Sons legal and more optimal/versitile with the new Codex. I also will be doing non-Nurgle models, even some non-CSM models but they won't be appearing on the B&C.

I can't say this will be updated super regularly, but I've got my painting table cleared off and models queued up so when they're done, I'll take a snip and post it here. I'll try to post WIP shots but I really like finished models better.

With Lord Bunny on my side, the Iron Warriors are doomed. I'm also calling out "the Iron Hands guy" bring your tinfoil father and your entombed cripples to Astronomi-con Vancouver it seems to be your style of event. I'll even give you a shot at the Diseased Sons before hand, if you got some place to play in Van City.

What is the Chapter Motto for those guys?

If you're going to have a handle like "Lord_bunny" you're going to have to toughen up. Nurgle, indeed all the Chaos Gods have no need of the weak and timid. happy.gif

I'll have to paint something new to post here, I'm painting every night or at least trying to, but nothing Power Armored right now.

Oh, now you've done it. Them's is fightin' words!

I actually didn't know about Astronomi-con Vancouver, so thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll be there, to show you just how much the (diseased) flesh is weak! Looking at their comp scoring, I'm probably going to have to make some changes to my list so I don't get slaughtered on my army comp (again).

If you're interested in a warm-up game or two, I've been playing at Strategies on Main for the past few weeks, as they've got a 40k campaign going (campaign blog here, if you're interested). Feel free to PM me if you want to set something up.

Man I swear someone should hire me to do marketing and promoting... Don't suppose Radical is looking for someone.

It just so happens I was at Darren's the other day. He told me about the campaign. I was under the impression I could not just show up one week and instead had to commit for like forever. Most of my army is on Vancouver Island. I have the stuff I took to West Coast Mayhem plus a few models that got cut at the end and a few things that I converted and primed for various evil purposes. I still haven't played with the new codex, nor have I got my army completely updated for the last one. The fifth edition worries me. I also got plans to dust off my orks, probably after Astronomi-con.

You can do what ever you want at Astro, vehicle design rules, foregworld stuff, yah they have a penalty system but you can just ignore it and take what you want. I made up a 1500 point GT Greatest Hits list. No idea if it will be devastating but it'll look cool, that's what really matters. Gotta get painting, I don't think Christian and Mike are too down with unpainted miniatures, lots of Americans will come to this tourney, old timers, veterans.

Let me see when I can get the rest of my army to Vancouver, I have problems... Then I'll PM you and arrange a game. I live fairly close to Strategies on Main and I've known Darren since he was a long haired skater working at the original Gas Town store.

I got some updates to my website coming, but I'm waiting on others. I did take a couple teaser pictures.

First what is on my painting table right now that is CSM related:

And stuff I unpacked and placed on a shelf I've owned but haven't had in Vancouver with me:

Well last night I couldn't sleep, so I got up and unpacked some more stuff and counted how many goblin shields I have and how many I need...

I also got the idea, after looking in my bitz box to retrofit a combi-plasma gun to a model I painted to be a cheap lieutenant. Now that we have no lieutenants, he has to be a cheap lord, cause he is fairly spiffy looking. I don't have a combi-plasma in my entire army so I built one using a left over bit from an Obliterator.

Sorry about the crappy pick, it was late and I had <DELETED BY THE INQUISITION>ty light. Anyway it looked a bit weedy from a distance so I decided to cut off the belt strap, breaking the arm off in the process, and adding in another bit to beef it up. I used a piece from a loyalist dreadnought then a piece from the Gorka Morka box I believe.

The new combi-plasma gun is beefcake, Beefcake!, BEEFCAKE!

I wasn't done there, I retrofitted a heavy flamer bit onto the Beast Rabaan. He was always suppose to have a heavy flamer and I grinded him down and put the gun end bit on him, but I didn't have a great bit. I looked into adding a tank to him, but discarded the idea. Then I found a loyalist dreadnought bit that I must have acquired when I built Toe Jam. Voila much more obvious heavy flamer...

Then I went to bed, but I thought of another model which is armed with a hand-flamer, which is no longer in existance and I decied to retrofit that to be a combi-flamer. I searched for the perfect bolter to slap on top and found a really old loyalist one with a stock that I liked. I had to do some filing, but voila!

I wasn't done with this post... I had the ammo clips and belts coming out the side for extra old school kool.

I also cleaned up a bit more some of the many Diseased Sons I stripped which were either painted poorly or had heavy weapons... Now I want the heavy weapons back, at least some of them. Some will be undivided troops eventually, plus I've acquire a lot of new models, especially heavy bolters as that is what comes in the plastic box. So my painting table just keeps filling up. I still got to paint 63 goblin shields...

I'm not painting over the mottos. I'm only adding additional details and highlights. Trying to make models painted over 10 years ago blend in with models I painted this year.

I got big plans for mocking say the Iron Hands. I can't give it away, but Barret's blood will boil, assuming he ever talks to me again. :-) I'll have it done before Astronomi-con Vancouver.

I couldn't sleep last night and converted up or at least start to, three more recruits to my neverending CSM army. Then today I forced myself to stop converting and paint Maceo the Maligned as he's pencilled in as army commander for this weekend. Battle reports will be duely written.

I also have three new picks for this thread and the B&C.

Above is the main bitz for the three models I needed or wanted to make... The one on the right is for Nihm's mega project, I'm going to test it with two different heads...

This is the utility belt for the model in the middle. I did a lot of digging and maybe clipped out too many bitz, but with Plaguemarines having a bolter, a bolt pistol, a CCW and three different types of grenades, they must have a pretty heavy belt. A champ can have mealta bombs, so this model has four grenades. I then did some green stuff work on him which is drying/curing.

This is Maceo with his retrofitted, Beefcake pattern, combi-plasma gun.

I'm working on lots of stuff, including some updates for my website. Maceo's forces were victorious on Saturday night and I will be at Strategies playing in their campaign wrap up on Sunday. That means three more games I may turn into battle reports. I'm still building and converting stuff. This model is for Nihm's mega project. It is made out of some Bezerker bitz but also some Obliterator bitz and misc. CSM parts. I quickly stuck two different heads on it to see what the unwashed masses think.

This is my "The Maxx" style power claws, but the pose is also influenced by Morg n' Thorg Bloodbowl fig a bit. I don't plan on adding to many more bitz to it, but of course shoulder pads and a backpack. I may do some more sanding and touching up of the greenstuff. If I had to do it all over again I would use plastic blades...

The heads aren't in their final position I just took two quick snaps to show how unassembled model three looks mostly assembled.

I gotta get back to studying more, and I gotta get a model done for Nihm and I got no end of Orks and Goblins to paint, but today I finished retrofitting/improving four models. The two most impressive are the Beast Rabaan's new more obvious heavy flamer and gorrified dreadnought close combat weapon.

And just in time for his command debut tomorrow, McFlay the Malevolent got his H2H weapon repainted so that it looks spiffy and it is dead obvious that it is a force weapon, since all sorcerors get one now.

The heavy flamer is done with various techniques already explained on my site, the gore is Lonewolf style though I might have made it a bit too dark. The weapon was done with a variety of greens starting at Orkhide Shade and going up to yellow. I also used washes and glazes to blend, I did green lighting on the globes and then put 4-5 coats of gloss on it.

Voila!

Coincidentally, I have a WIP commander with a very similar pose and armament to that last one you posted... Great (or diseased) minds think alike.

Well after recovering from my CFA practice exam, I busted out, well picked up the paint brushes on Sunday. It is still very much a work in progress, but here is the twin lightning claw guy with some paint on him.

Take a guess at the color scheme?

Not that anyone seems to have noticed or cared, but instead of studying for my CFA I've been working away at a member of the Brotherhood of Darkness. I still need a better photo set up, but here are two sizeable pictures of how things stand. I'm taking calls for the color to do the lightning claws. I was originally going to do purple, but blue, green, yellow, all should work.

I might redo the biggest rune on the chest...

That's very close the the version on GW's site that I'm not too crazy about. Highlighting the hands properly and doing the backpack in black instead of metallic makes the model much less busy.

Those berzeker legs are some of the best legs in the current GW line up; they have a nice dynamic to them right out of the box.

Definately redo the chest rune--it should be the same scale as the rest of the runes, or, if you insist upon it being larger, it should at least be interesting...

I never saw that model or maybe I did. I went largely by the picture on page 19 or whatever in the codex.

So are my hands highlighted properly? I did them grey Fortress and Codex they aren't done because of I have to paint the lightning claws still.

If I make the chest rune smaller, it currently is "9" or something in Chaos Runes I could fit three or four runes. I could do four little runes I imagine. I used actual runes from the WFB Chaos Army list book.

No one has said what color I should do the lightning claws. I probably won't do them tomorrow I need to study and do domestic chores. But I hope to finish this model soon, as in the next few days.

I probably should have been studying, but I'm sick and a man of my word. So I said I would finish a tutorial on painting the Brotherhood of Darkness CSM chapter and I did. It won't be online until Nihm does what Nihm does. My camera died for good so the pictures are crappier instead of better. This model is probably better painted than the Hakanor's Reaver because of the nice work on the red trim. I also did a token flesh tone, evil purple power claws, free hand chapter insignia, and of course plenty of skulls and chaos runes.

Good enough, I gotta study my ass off for the CFA exam.

The model wasn't quite finished in the above shot. I took it before I washed the skulls. Then my camera viewscreen still refused to work so I sprayed the model with purity seal. Then I tried taking a picture from further back and let the flash go... It makes some of the highlights look a little harsh. I still don't like highlighting black, but it is a good comparison with his drinkin' buddy the Hakanor Reaver.

I keep buying and converting models, time to paint some of them. There are more minis on my desk right now then there ever should be. It'll take me a year to paint all these, certainly more than one month. But in June I plan to paint a half dozen Diseased Sons.

Stay tuned.
