looking good ;) I think the one 'chaos' leg bit stands out auite a bit though, but i really like the cape. Yes, please clarify why you have a pre-heresy Belial? as he wasn't around back then :P and neither were the Deathwing :P

I can see why he isn't wearing his helm.
good work Antman677, I'm not sure about the helmet though, in its current config it would not be possible to wear it. also I think you need to work on the lions nose. I like the armour a lot.

haha yea...i noticed that too when i first made it and was hoping others wouldnt notice <_<

what i think i'll do is cut off the lower part of the wings so that the helmet will fit in the TDA head opening...

How was his chestplate constructed?

All pieces are from the ravenwing upgrade sprue. The wings are from the master of the ravenwing landspeeder icon. I cut off the sword and sanded the piece down where you could bend it to the form of the torso armor. for the opposite wing i just sanded the other side down. the centerpiece was also from the upgrade sprue i believe...(got it off an online bits store)

Also, when you say 'pre-heresy Belial', do you actually mean 'pre-heresy Lion'el'?

I assume he means Belial in pre-Heresy TDA, or how Belial might have looked had he been around and wearing TDA before the Heresy. Very nice model design!

sorry sorry...i meant a pre-heresy belial equivalent. for my successor chapter he was the champion of the 1st dark angel company. He would lead a small TDA speartip into battle...using DA rules.

Yeah I think I'll file it down and add some GS and put studs on it. any tips on making/where to find studs to use?

Looks excellent. What did you use for the shoulder pads, they look great!

thanks! the shoulder pads are dark angel dreadnought shin armor with the scroll/DA insignia filed down. I then cut some pieces of plasticard for the shoulder pad trimmings.

also to come...modified helmet that fits (not sure i can engineer a convertible termie  lol), studs/rivets, fanged lion, and taking out the right chaos shin pad thing.

I may have to steal that idea for my termies in the future...

very nice. looking forward to see this newer version of your model and i think that the lion trophy needs to be a CALIBANITE Lion!

lol...and if by a calibanite lion you mean one with big fangs...here he is!!

and to all the people who still doubt that a winged helm can fit on mr. TDA Ravion...

he fits! just barely...lol

and here he is w/o the chaos shins...how do the studs look?

i agree. i dunt really like it either.

imo, the winged helm has some sorta ompf to it that i like. it feels intimidating and a bit evil( a good evil)

about rescultping or using any termi helm, i think u may have some trouble putting it into the actually head slot w/o having the neck guard getting in the way. if re sculpting is your option, i would sketch out a plan first nd post it here for other ppls opinion.

but gotta love how he looks so far. he has this "RIP YO TO SHREADS!"ness to him. keep up the good work

The wings aren't working I'm afraid, just not in TDA anyway.

Best thing to do is try adding a plasticard 'grill' to a Termie helm. Theres multiple examples in the WIP section, if I can dig an example out, I'll link it.

Other than that, its a lovely looking mini.

Cheers,

WW

Hmmm ill look around but im not exactly sure what you mean. seems the consensus is to use the winged helm...i agree he looks kinda funny wearing it, but when hes holding it...it looks pretty cool, just cant think too hard about how hes going to look wearing it lol...

but if you can shoot a link my way, ill see what i can do...

One question regarding the shoulder pads - if you took the shin armour from a dreadnought, what did you use for the dreadnought's shin armour instead? That's one thing thats stopped me using them on my termies.

well some of the shin armor i got from the ravenwing upgrade sprues that come with a TON of dark angel upgrade sprues with dreadnought shin armor. but they werent nearly enough of 15 termies...so i went to on ebay and bought dark angel dread shin armor for $1.25 for 2...not the cheapest but its still the most economic way to make termie shoulder pads. i read on a post where a guy cut sections off of a plastic pen cap...and it looked pretty good too

  • 3 weeks later...

finally started to work on mr. pre-heresy champion...

I was trying for a white lion with a yellow hue...does it look like a yellow lion with some white paint slapped on? any ideas on how to make it more white-ish looking?
