Honour Guard

Some of you might recognize a couple of the guys. Most of them do have magnetic parts so weapons are swappable. These will double as my command squad on foot.

Sternguard

Nothing much to say here cept a lot of cutting up metal pads to make them fit into both veteran and command squad pad designs.

man scuz, those models look amazing. (I for one love the sternguard sergeant with the fist on the ground, that pose rocks)

nice find on the drop pod turbines for super jetpacks-- are those needed for the kit or are they simply for show?

Jolly fine work Scuz, jolly fine indeed.

If I thought my bank balance was unsafe with the release of the stock minis, now that you've done this with them I realise that having money at all will be a thing of the past.

*sigh*

I think it just looks like that, but I believe the forearm armour is extended to cover the back of the hand as well so the seal is between that and his hand. If his arms were straight it'd look fine.

Wow.

I am new to the sight and Space Marines. Don't even have the new codex but wow. How did you sculpt the loin cloths and tabards? I want to have them in the command squad and veterans of my chapter The Crimson Swords and need to know how to sculpt them. Once again wow. Great work can't wait until there painted.

The pads were removed with the primary goal of keeping them in one piece. As the marine bodies themselves lack detail, they are easier to sculpt over. I hollow it out to make it a pad using a dremel (cutter).

The extensions are made from plastic rod rather than plastic card, with the curve sanded down using a the dremel and a mandrel. All my vets have them, which made it... troublesome to get champ pads. Thankfully I have very good friends willing to part with the pads... (and the turbines as well)

The tabards are made in a similar fashion to the above, although I do them on a flat surface, so yeah, the back is flat. Tutorial. For the vanguard however, the above linky that Cap Ultio provided pretty much covers it.

The yellow stuff that you see is Tamiya Quick-Type 2 part epoxy putty. It hardens hard so its good to sand with, and works like GS. It's slightly harder than brown stuff. I build up a lot of the harder body stuff with it.
