Turbofan JPs

I start with a traditional marine JP. Now why do I do this and not with a normal back pack? Well, the normal backpack is small, so once the turbines are fitted in, the whole JP won't fit on the marine's back due to the shoulder pads. The traditional JP's base body offers more girth to fit the turbines in.

I cut off both the vent intakes and nozzles off (I might use them later)

I then fill in the hollow section with putty and let it harden, after which I smoothen and clean it up

I stick washers down to simulate a connection point. I then drill through the washers. The ID of the washers are 3mm.

Now onto the turbines! I start by getting 2 sizes of plastic rod. I use Evergreen Scale Models Stripstyrene sizes 232(3/8" or 9.5mm tube) and 234(7/16" or 11.1mm tube). These form the body and outer casing respectively.

The body is cut down to 15mm(37/64") sections, and the casing is cut into 5mm(3/16") and 6.25mm(1/4")

Once assembled, I drill a 3mm hole (and insert a 3mm diameter rod later)

I glue the turbine fan from the droppod on the top, being sure to align it in the centre.

Insert rod, nozzles and...

The finished JP. Detail as required. :( The chopped off nozzles can be fitted into the turbines to act as as the nozzles if you wish.

I don't have them installed yet as while I did plan to use them (and did an initial test fit_, I'm still debating on whether I want to build my own exhausts. I will update this again when I have fully finished it, but at present, I've only done this. I trust that the folks here should be able to continue from here if necessary for now.

I would prefer to keep this here Cap...:P

Lovely work madscuzzy, just lovely! I'm going to copy it, then I'm going to decide what to do with it! Oh, the B&C PC&A, a veritable cornucopia of delights. :D
