Name: Brazen Fists Chapter Colours: ![]() Background: A Codex Adherent Chapter. Not very well-known. Uses Imperial Fist geneseed. Successor of the Imperial Fists. They get their name by how stubborn and stern they are. They always set up a wall of troops, slowly advancing towards the enemy, bolters roaring as they go. Their homeworld is that of Ith, a world covered in fiery pits of lava and volcanic wasteland. Tribes made up of survivors from the Day of Fire roam the ashy wastelands and rivers of lava, who call themselves the Ashlanders. The fortress monastery of the Brazen Fists is located in the ruins of the last-standing city, surrounded by a great, wide moat of boiling lava. Organization: They follow the Codex Astartes strictly. History: They started out as one of the 26th founding. Ith, during this time, was recently just colonized, and was covered in vibrant, beautiful jungles and a large ocean. Several Imperial cities were built upon it. The original Brazen Fists fortress monastery was built on top of a tall mountain overlooking the capitol city. Large gothic architecture shadowed the city, and the guardian angels who represented Him on Earth stood vigilant within this mighty rampart in their star system. The people knew about the space marines, but cared little of them. The world thrived for many centuries. In 998.M41, a chaos warband descended upon their star system in search for an ancient artifact. The Brazen Fists met the Hated Enemy on several other worlds within their home system, wanting to remove this cancer from the constantly working body that was the Imperium of Mankind. Alas, the chaos warband would not give up that easily. Upon the ice world of Carthul, the planet farthest away from Ith's local star, was the bloodiest battle of the entire conflict. Carthul is covered in dense dense vast sheets of ice. Temples in the form of gargantuan towers dot the surface, most leading to underground cities full of ancient skeletons that would turn to dust if a man stepped upon one. Here, was also the city of Tenz, which was built in a crater full of a warm steaming jungle. Tenz had a giant shield around it, and the epic conflict raged within the icy wasteland. The entire world was a battlefield. Eventually, though, the forces of chaos got what they had come for, and retreated. The marines collected their dead, repaired what had to be repaired, and returned to Ith. Several months later, came the Day of Fire. This was when the chaos warband returned to test their artifact which they had gone through Hell and back to discover. It was called the Daemonicus Infernium, and could cook a world alive. The chaos fleet rushed in and engaged the PDF fleet and marine fleet. This was a massive space battle. Chaos marines went down below in talon drop pods to engage innocent civilians and marines on the ground. The jungles were blasted away, along with the several cities that had fallen within the first few hours due to not being prepared. The majority of civilians escaped into either the great bunker beneath the capitol city, or to the fortress monastery on the mountain above, though most were crushed by an avalanche. Captain Nero Atton was commanding the forces within the capitol city, and, the second the heat began to rise, and he saw several civilians spontaneously combust in the center of a panicked crowd, he, and whatever marines he could muster, escaped to the underground shelters. The chapter master, Vergil Bakand, teleported with a contingent of terminators aboard the command chaos vessel. They watched as the world of Ith was cooked alive, it's surface being peeled off to reveal bleeding scabs of lava and black rock. He then dueled and took down the enemy leader, throwing him out into space to burn in the planet's torched atmosphere. They returned to an Imperial vessel, and destroyed what was left of the chaos filth, a few of which got away in terror. Vergil Bakand and his men, several months later after living in orbit, flew down over the world in a squadron of thunderhawk gunships. Everything was annihilated. The original fortress monastery was completely gone, and what was left were a few black pillars surrounded by criss-crossing rivers of lava, which became lavafalls overlooking where the capitol city was. The capitol city was surrounded now by a great wide moat of boiling lava. What was left were several black, burnt buildings, and the entrance to the bunker. The marines landed, and discovered many bones embedded in the ground leading to the entrance. Hot winds swept their helmeted faces. Vergil took his helmet off, his beard and long hair flew in the wind as they approached the bunker entrance. They opened it, and entered to find that Nero Atton had made a second chapter monastery within the bunker. He said that some people refused to stay, and many civilians had ran out onto the surface, he was not sure if any had survived. Many became primitive tribes in the new Ashlands. Vergil was returned command of the chapter, and whatever marines were left collected servitors and began to build the chapter fortress monastery upwards, from the underground bunker and break from the obsidian surface. This black fortress rose from the ground, and bristled with defense cannons as every one should. The bunker beneath the fortress was converted into a city (now called Ith Primoris) as the fortress above expanded more and more. As the marines went up, the civilians went down. The marines, being low on troops, took babies from the local families beneath, and the families were glad to give their children up to become Angels of Death and light. Eventually, all was balanced, and they were back up to full-strength. But it did not last long, as the small chaos warband, whittled down to now a few squads of marines and a horde of zealots led by a terminator with great tusks, returned to Ith. The forces of chaos battled the servants of the Holy Emperor on the volcanic world, and this conflict lasted a very, very long day. It all ended when Vergil dueled the enemy commander at the remains of the original monastery, but alas, both of Vergil's legs were chopped off by the beast's chainaxe, and fell to the laval river nearby. He caught fire, and he and his armor began to cook. Nero came to the chapter master's resque, and kicked the chaos marine into the river. The chaos marines once more retreated, and Vergil was given bionic legs, and a new suit, built of black ceremite built with obsidian mixed in. He has many things to keep him alive. He sits on his throne now, commanding the companies of Brazen Fist warriors everywhere they fight in His Holy Realm. Recruitment: The marines are recruited from the local families of the underground city of Ith Primoris, as babies. They are taken to the fortress monastery above and are given everything they need. Once training begins, the marines give it their all. They are also taught in arts, history, etc, as well as many ancient forms of combat, should they find themselves without a weapon. Once they turn 18, the main trial begins. The Valley of Blood is a vast gorge full of lava so red, it could be mistaken for blood. Horrid creatures, most left behind by the chaos infestations, inhabit this area, as do evolved and adapted beasts that had survived the Day of Fire. Scouts are given a combat knife, a bolt pistol, several rations and a medical kit each. Then, the squad is dropped off by Thunderhawk and must survive one month within this hellish area. If they succeed, they are fully inducted as Battle Brothers. Geneseed: They use Imperial Fist geneseed. Battlecry: "Burn their souls as they have burned ours!"
