Hi guys, first thread on B&C so be gentle biggrin.gif

Thought i'd show my wolf lord conversion, been working on him for a while and would like some c + c from you fine chaps (and chapesses).

http://s400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/st...space%20wolves/

Basically i've decided to go back to space wolves after a couple of years out and thought i'd make an army to keep my attention. I'm basically going to convert all the models to some extent (for instance all will have a diamond on the chest plate). Its my first extensive conversion, as you will ee from the pics.

in game terms he will be equiped with master crafted thunder hammer, storm shield, terminator armour, wolf tooth necklace, wolf tail talisman, runic charm, bionics and he's going to have two wolves.

the hammer looks very large and there is a reason for this, the other arm is going to be holding the two chained up wolves, so no space for a storm shield. Therefore i decided to say that the hammer projects such a force field around it that it offers some degree of protection to the wielder. Alos for people who question whether he could actually wield it, firstly its a two handed hammer (hence the extended handle) and secondly i'm toying with the idea of saying there is a small anti-grav plate built in, much like the interrigators sword in one of the soul drinkers books.

Any how, i digress. What do you guys think...

Andy

Pics are available further down thread aswell biggrin.gif

That...is one exceedingly large hammer

wolf guard 2 (the one with Grimgor's axe) looks suitaby badass, #1 less so, but still cool

I do have problems with the hammer though, even if it does have a forcefield generator built in it wont be that big. Thats just my opinion though, if you like the hammer, keeep the hammer.

I agree that the hammer is too big...with it that big, it looks like it doesnt have any real weight to it because of the models pose. Id say tone it down a bit...perhaps make a small shield mounted on the forearm of his right arm for the stormshield?

Rofl that hammer head is HUGE! The wolf guard look saweet specially number 2 and blood claws with mohawks nice touch of ol'school. Personally waiting to the fall of new dex and miniatures sometime before 2010 but still drawing inspiration till then and i'll be following these for sure for some of that inspiration aka yoinkness.

Yeah i've played space wolves for ages and really wanted a strong visual theme for each unit, for intsance all blood claws have shaved heads except for mohawks, wolf guard in power armour all have the wolf cloaks, long fangs will be the most bionic of the marines. I'm also working on the bodyguard for the wolf lord, most have double hammers, but two are actually gonna have shields made from plasticard. Old school viking-esque round shields. I've decided on runes for the termies aswell, and all will have the lords rune on thier hands and the lord will have theirs painted around his gorget (hiopefully). Cheers for the feedback guys I really appreciate it and i'll post updated pics as soon as i have them

heres a few shots of my very much wip wolf guard terminators. They all have chaos cloaks on their backs, but they will have a much bigger fur ruff going over the front of the shoulder pads. the hair on a couple is only the first part and more hair will be added (especially to the last one).

Thunder hammer and storm shield, old school terminator armour aswell. Gonna have another sction on the gorget.

Thunder hammer and storm shield, gonna have a bit of a beard sculpted on.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00212.jpg

Two thunder hammers, held down at his side (bit like one of the new empire warrior preists)

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00214.jpg

Double handed thunder hmmer, held acoss body (think typhus with a hammer), more dreadlocks and braids to be scultped on down the side of his head.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00218.jpg

Back of one termie, all pretty much the same, as said furruff to be added onto shoulders, should bulk them out at the top a bit more.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00211.jpg

Long fang pack leader (again very much wip)

For an idea of the colour scheme, check this thread http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=151481

c+c welcome as before. Look forward to hearing from you

yeah the arm is grimnars (as is the wolf head on my captain...).

The hammer is being reworked, but i may well redo the whole of the hammerso as he is holding it just under the hammer head, that should help with a feeling of more weight. I'll keep you guys posted with updates when they get done...

right now i'm off to play warhammer online, that dwarf wont level on his own <_<

  • 2 months later...

k long time no post... been busy with work and life but now im back with a few updates...

firstly the wolf guard termie with double handed hammer

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00330.jpg

As you can see, finally got the typhus arms on him, also changed his head for an old empire wizards (love the beard)

Next up, wolf guard with 2 thunder hammers

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00333.jpg

Made the hammers out of plasticard, roughed up the edges so they look like stone... this guys gonna have the rune representing stone engraved on his charms so its a kinda geeky nod to that, that no one will ever really notice but me :D

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00337.jpg

This guys had a hammer added (still needs green stuffing but its gettign there) and a mock up of the storm shield... itll have a design sculpted on like the one below...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00343.jpg

The celtic/norse style markings that i'm gona press mould to make 2 shields. it's a round shield to keep witht he viking style theme, and will have a wood texture on the other side... fun times

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00340.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00341.jpg

lastly some blood claws with powerfists, the bottom 2 pics are the same one (for those that arent sure) its just to show the positioning of the fist...

also well on the way is the pack leader for the blood claws, armed with double handed thunder hammer held down across the body, and with a classic long fang head on him... i'll dig it out of the geek room and post some pics tomorrow.... take care peeps :P

As promised heres some pics of my next pack leader...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00345.jpg

He's based (sort of) on this guy from the codex

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00347.jpg

Again, any c+c would be welcome (especially before i've finished all the green stuffing as it easier to fix now).

I can't really offer much criticism. The models are beautiful. Very nice work. The only thing I can say is I'm not really a fan of the really big weapons. But that's just personal preference. These models are awesome.

Great work.

Thought I'd update you fine peeps with some new shots.

first up, theres my 3rd pack leader for the grey hunters (armed with a power weapon/bolt pistol). I've started to sculpt some different armour on him. He needs a 'hub' in the centre of his chest which will have 3 pipes coming out, 1 straight down to the belt and 2 to either side of he gorget. Oh and for those who love old school models, thats leman russ' head...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00356.jpg

Then theres some progress on one of my termies... sculpted the hair on him now, including his braids coming down. Hes also had a second 'layer' to his gorget and i've started on his wolf tooth necklace/talismans

btw, if you cant see the hair properly let me know cos i'll photoshop a cloe up...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00358.jpg

Lastly here are some pics of the bases... as they are going to be my 'display' army i'm basing most of them on scenic bases that will have plenty of snow on them as befits the sons of russ.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00349.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00350.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00352.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00355.jpg

And soon i'll be alble to show you the fnished (wel unpainted but moulded) storm shields and a drinking horn for one of the termies

Anyhoo, that green stuff doesn't sculpt itself (unfortunatley) so i'll be leaving you.

Keep the comments coming, i need to hear about the stuff that doesn't work before its too late to change.

Hey guys, here are some new pics of my wolf guard... nearly finished 2 of them now.

First up is the pack leader for my bloodclaws, hes done, with the exception of the right shoulder pad, but i don't know if i should add any more to it or just leave the spce to freehand the company badge.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00370.jpg

Then there is one of my termies, he needs the shield added and some charms hanging from the fur ruff. what do you guys think??

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00382.jpg

then there are just a few shots of some with more greenstuff added...

really don't know what to do with the missing arm... will have to do something soon i suppose

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00379.jpg

this guys pretty much done aswell actually...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00373.jpg

this guys gonna have greenstuff on the shoulder pads to make bands going from right to left and then rivets added to the pads and the torso (can't think how else to describe it)

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00371.jpg

I'd really like to hear any suggestions from you guys as to where to go now with some of these, especially regarding the guy with the missing arm....

thanks, andrew :D
