[LPC] Terminator Squad (and a Rhino...)

Well I take awful pictures, and for some reason my painting always looks rougher in photos than it does in real life...camera adds ten pounds! That's it! Anyways here's what I've got going for the LPC thus far! Comments are appreciated, again apologies for the crappy pictures. Haven't quite figured out how to take good ones yet.

They are OBVIOUSLY NOT DONE...still need to do more highlighting and clean up work, as well as drill out the barrels of the weapons.

Rhino needs highlights, clean up, metal stuff colored properly, and tracks primed and painted, as well as details.

Oh btw, these are for the DIY Chapter "The Dragon's Scars" which was an army I sort of inherited from another player...highly considering turning them into Sons of Orar however. That would let me use all the Ultramarine logos on all the forgeworld and whatnot stuff to it's full extent, rather than having to go through the process of making my own chapter symbol every single time.

Thanks Cathar. What would be an acceptable size for the forums?

Your welcome. I mostly use the option "landscape" 480x360 but that's just me, you can make them a bit bigger if you want to. What matters much more is the quality of the picture. If it is blurry and unfocused, making it smaller will not help (and larger will not either Oo)

No apologies necessary :)

Thanks for the compliment..I am still relatively new to 40k (only been in it about a year and a half) and this is actually the first squad of regular terminators I have ever painted. I have loads of GK termies but they are all metallic so not nearly so hard to paint as actual colors. :)

Hey guys, thanks for the compliments. They're not even "cleaned up" or finalized yet but I am liking how they are turning out. That's the nicest thing anyone has said about my painting :)

As an update, I've already based and put the initial color into the second half of this squad. I haven't done any detailing or highlighting work though..my next step is to paint up their storm bolters in basic colors and then attach the arms. Then the highlighting and detailing can begin.

The rhino is about where it was earlier, the next step on that is to base and paint the tracks. :)

Just as a heads up, the second half of the termie squad is nearly done...again I just need to do fine details on the weapons, and I'd like to make some neat facial markings for them too. Then just throw a lil snow and some other fun details onto the bases and they're ready to roll.

In addition I'm trying a new glowing eyes thing on the termies that I'm not sure how it looks, and I'm also doing an attempt at a little light sourcing and some electric stuff on the power fist of one or two of them, just for kicks.

The project was slightly delayed by a small tyranid army I managed to half luck and half trade my way into, but will be completed within another day or two.

DONE! In so much as any unit of mine can ever be done (I never varnish my mini's because I always want to update my techniques on stuff when I learn neat new ones...I've had minis that have been done for a year and will still NEVER be finished!). I'm sure I will update or paint these differently later (as you can see I'm alread practing on a glow and source lighting effect on the one termie's power fist), but for all intents and purposes they are ready for battle.

First let me apologize for the cruddy pictures. I left my digital camera on, and the batteries ran out. I also seemed to have misplaced my SD card. Whoops. So it'll be a trip to Walmart or Office Depot or something for me later this weekend, and then soon I will try to take some better pics. For right now, it's camera phone.

First! The terminator squad:

For the record, yes I realize I have two power swords, and that is technically not legal. However, that's what I had to work with, and I will tell my opponent that only the one with the iron halo counts as a power sword.

I also cleaned up the facial markings on all the guys with them (a little over half the squad, I think six of them) so they are much more crisp now, especially the fourth picture down (on the initial post) guy. He really needed it.

Now, the rhino:

As it's been a while since I painted a vehicle (been working on tyranids mostly as of late) I had forgotten how big a pain the red and white paint scheme could be. One tiny slip of the brush where the white and red touch and there's quite a bit of repair work to be done. Not to mention how big a pita white is to paint anyways lol. :P

Well, again sorry for the terrible pics, but I hope you enjoy. I can guarantee these guys would most likely still be grey models if it hadn't been for the LPC! Thanks!

(Whew, and just in before the deadline!)
