Mr.SM's WIP Librarium Challenge thread

Recommended Posts

Hey all, this is the WIP thread for my progress in the Librarium Painting CHallenge.

Finally got some batteries for my camera and am able to take some photos of stuff.

Captain WIP, in the Chapter colours of an unnamed Chapter, halved gold and red. Almost done, but haven't got any skin colour paints yet so his head still needs to be finished. And he needs basing too. And the metal is a little too shiny for my liking too, needs some more ink wash.

I really like the devlan mud wash, it makes the gold look so much better (and its especially good for the less gifted of us like me that can't highlight for *&$%!)

Here is the hardly done WIP terminator. I think I'll be doing a Blood Angel or something, something red at least.

And since I can't get my hands on those two CSMs my friend promised me I could paint I've done a (very badly painted) PH Emperor's Children. Still WIP:

Note the I didn't do the basing, that was the base it was on when I got it (got a whole bunch of 3rd ed. space marines for free off of someone I know). Oh, and sorry about the blurryness of the last two pics, I'll try and fix that for the next pictures.

Update soon!

try giving your gold a highlight-burnished gold, or shining gold with a 1:1 mix of mithril silver.

also when doing gold, to make it appear less patchy and thin, do a base coat of tin bitz, then a few layers of gold until you have a bold colour, then go for your delvan wash, then highlight with my suggest colours, it gives it great depth.

I think I did that with an Iron Warriors chaos lord of mine a while ago (with converted chainsaw!), but I'll give it a go here too and see what happens. And seriously, the EC probably can't get much better, the previous owner ahd about 5layers of thick paint al over it. :)
