Grey Knight Army

Recommended Posts

Finaly I have started assambly and painting of my Landraider for my Grey Knight Army.

The LR is modified so that it can be a "normal" LR and a LRC, hopefully in the near future the

nice kit from FW will be the third option.

This LR have been lying dusty in a box for a while (read too looooong) however no it is time.

If you like to see my other finished GK please follow this link My Grey Knight figures

And here my LR will start to take shape

Every thing has a begining, I starteb by assembyling the LR partely in handsome kit's

After that some greenstuff to fill the gaps

The first thing for me when painting my GK is Boltgun

After that I first paint the model fully with water down black ink, after drying I put a blue ink on that

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k277/bodde_2006/GKLR09.jpg

To finalise the metal parts I first add a new layer of boltgun, than a layer of Chainmail and finaly Mithril Silver. Here is the finnishe roof of the interior

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k277/bodde_2006/GKLR10.jpg

And here is on of the interior sides (Ok I know that it is overkill to paint the interior of the Landraider but I just need to do it to feel finished)

Thats all for today, more will follow....

Hey, looking good - might have to order myself the Forge World doors for my knights.

I was painting mine roughly the same way, but as I was washing the entire model in Asurmen Blue, I decided to drop the Boltgun Metal first coat, Now I'm just doing Mithril Silver basecoat, Asurmen Blue wash, then another layer of Mithril Silver again, looks identical to when I was doing the Boltgun Metal basecoat. If some places need darkening, then out comes the Badab black - saves me about 2 hours per Marine!

I'll post some pics when I get myself a camera

I'll be keeping an eye on this topic for a bit of inspiration, so more updates please!

Love it. I wish I had used boltgun metal on my Grey Knights when I had them. Instead I ended up using some awful testors silver paint. Worst mistake ever. I just might have to build a GK army someday after they get a new codex.

 Looks awesome. Keep up the good work.

Very nice so far - I really like the look of the FW extra armor and GK bits.

Good luck with the metal Crusader sponsons. Those are going to be a nightmare if they're anything like the Crusaders I've seen built.

Finaly sunday evening and the possability to paint a litle.

Started of by finishing the engine.

and also the front of the interior of the left hand side.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k277/bodde_2006/GKLR14.jpg

I also glued the left and right side together. Worked out fine.

But then it was time to fit the roof on to the sides.

Hmm how difficult can it be to fit plastic parts to each other, some at least.

It ended up with some gaps.

Next week I will paint loooots of metalic on large surfaces.

Thank you for the feedback.

Today I have tried to mount and dismount the weapon spoons for the Crusader option. It works but is a litle bit tricky. And I also investigatade my sunday evening all to late glueing. I need to fill those gaps with greenstuff otherwise I will not be happy with it at the end.

As a small black op I glued and converted two GK terminators with storm shield and thunderhammer.

I tried your weapon mount idea and it works great. You have to open the bottom mounting hole just a little to make it easier to swap the weapons out. Also the gap in the roof is usually caused by the engine panel. Every raider i have built I had to trim that panel down flush with the top of the track sections. Hope it helps!

Hi again, time for a small update:

* Greenstuffed alot to fill the gaps

* Boltgun filling

* Inking in my special way

* Started to reshape the metal by a first layer of boltgun followed by a layer of chainmail. (This step is still in progress as can be seen.)

Sunday update

Wednesday update

As can be seen the pase of progress is "slow but purpouseful"

Until next update....

Last evening I hade the oppertunity to paint again since my wife and daughter went to bed really early.

To Shortsonfire79: I realy apprisiate your concern and recommendation regarding my way to mount my weapon spoons. I will save those things to last and concider your thoughts regarding that. My only problem with the magnets are for the hurrican pattern bolters that are in metal and not plastic. I have used lot of magnets on my eldar army and it works out fine, but i think it is difficult to use magnets on small metal parts. However I will concider it.

Now for the yesterdays update.

Right hand side both boltgun and chainmail.

Left hand side only a layer of boltgun.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k277/bodde_2006/GKLR19.jpg

Today I will probably order the nice redeemer spoons from FW for my LR.

Hi again,

Lots of days have past since last update. I have not had so much time to paint. However this weekend I made some progress.

Still waiting for the FW pices to arrive.

Most of the LR have been covered by mithril now, some small places left.

The gunmount is still unpaintet since I have not yet finished the spoons and seen if they fit.

Also painted some bronze and gold, finished the vent and Tech symbol on the backside.

Tracks has been drybrushed.

Just want to stick in with that FW finaly delivered the Redeemer convertion kit. Bad luck that I will be away on-job training and vaccation and business trip the comming 3 weeks. How can one fit in a painting hour in that scheme?

About two weeks of from painting due to vaccation etc.

This evening I was finaly home again. I got some time over for painting and started to prepare my redeemer upgrade. Here is the result

I also have a question to you who reads this thread: should I add one of the shields here? It is not possible to add a shield on the otherside due to lots of purity seals are in the way of it.

Looking forward to your opinions...

I love the paint work on this, it looks great.

To be honest a model the size of a LR intimidates me, but seeing this kind of thing makes me feel that maybe i can do it :(

Keep posting the pics, ill be watching :P
