Basically, this is a rework of a thread going on in the WIP forum, thought the dedicated wolves would like to see in case they bypassed it.... hence why some of the wording seems odd....

Wolf Lord

part 2....

wolf guard termie with double handed hammer

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00330.jpg

As you can see, finally got the typhus arms on him, also changed his head for an old empire wizards (love the beard)

Next up, wolf guard with 2 thunder hammers

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00333.jpg

Made the hammers out of plasticard, roughed up the edges so they look like stone... this guys gonna have the rune representing stone engraved on his charms so its a kinda geeky nod to that, that no one will ever really notice but me :)

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00337.jpg

This guys had a hammer added (still needs green stuffing but its gettign there) and a mock up of the storm shield... itll have a design sculpted on like the one below...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00343.jpg

The celtic/norse style markings that i\'m gona press mould to make 2 shields. it\'s a round shield to keep witht he viking style theme, and will have a wood texture on the other side... fun times

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00339.jpg

also well on the way is the pack leader for the blood claws, armed with double handed thunder hammer held down across the body, and with a classic long fang head on him... i\'ll dig it out of the geek room and post some pics tomorrow.... take care peeps :)

And lastly, for those who want to see a pianted model... my wolf priest

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00164.jpg

although i might convert a new one when i\'ve done the rest.... as it is this i fine for the mo.

Very interresting conversions, kinda hard to tell how they'll look in the end as most seem to be pretty early in the design process but they look good so far. I look forward to seeing more!

impressive work! I admire your skills with the greens, I'm still learning myself. Great job on using some of the classic metal minis, although I don't think I'm bold enough to do the same with mine :P keep up the great work, looking forward with the paint job :)

As Wing Knight rightly says, I'd be interested to know how you did the wolf guard 2... very cool pose. Green stuff work is also impressive, particularly on the lord.

I always love seeing models with 2 thunder hammers too - My Wolf Lord is armed with this combo (an over equipped merchant of doom if ever there was one) and only appears in apocalypse size forces. In 2000 points or less he has to sit in the command bunker with an ale and watch the battle leaders do the all the real work.

More pics later in the process would be great. Nice work

thanks for the response so far guys.

re: wolf guard 2, hes got the legs from an old long fang, the arm is one of the bioni ams found on the new marine servitors, found it worked quite nicely, the hand was cut and repostioned slightly to hold the handle from a chaos terminator lords force staff with grimgor ironhides axe head... needs some work but looks suitably hard to be a wolf guard.

As promised heres some pics of my next pack leader...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00344.jpg

He's based (sort of) on this guy from the codex

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00347.jpg

Again, any c+c would be welcome (especially before i've finished all the green stuffing as it easier to fix now).

I've got 2 more wolf guard termies on the drawing board for apocalypse games, one will have a cyclone missile launcher (hand held like the missile pods on the broadside battlesuits) and one will have the great company banner....

oh and the irst hammer (held by the lord) has been scrapped, so don't fret on that. it was my first attempt at building from plasticard and it took sme getting used to... i'll post new pics when i've rebuilt the hand and weapon...

Thought I'd update you fine peeps with some new shots.

first up, theres my 3rd pack leader for the grey hunters (armed with a power weapon/bolt pistol). I've started to sculpt some different armour on him. He needs a 'hub' in the centre of his chest which will have 3 pipes coming out, 1 straight down to the belt and 2 to either side of he gorget. Oh and for those who love old school models, thats leman russ' head...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00356.jpg

Then theres some progress on one of my termies... sculpted the hair on him now, including his braids coming down. Hes also had a second 'layer' to his gorget and i've started on his wolf tooth necklace/talismans

btw, if you cant see the hair properly let me know cos i'll photoshop a cloe up...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00358.jpg

Lastly here are some pics of the bases... as they are going to be my 'display' army i'm basing most of them on scenic bases that will have plenty of snow on them as befits the sons of russ.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00350.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00352.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/space%20wolves/DSC00355.jpg

And soon i'll be alble to show you the fnished (wel unpainted but moulded) storm shields and a drinking horn for one of the termies

Anyhoo, that green stuff doesn't sculpt itself (unfortunatley) so i'll be leaving you.

Keep the comments coming, i need to hear about the stuff that doesn't work before its too late to change.

Hey guys, here are some new pics of my wolf guard... nearly finished 2 of them now.

First up is the pack leader for my bloodclaws, hes done, with the exception of the right shoulder pad, but i don't know if i should add any more to it or just leave the spce to freehand the company badge.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00370.jpg

Then there is one of my termies, he needs the shield added and some charms hanging from the fur ruff. what do you guys think??

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00382.jpg

then there are just a few shots of some with more greenstuff added...

really don't know what to do with the missing arm... will have to do something soon i suppose

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00379.jpg

this guys pretty much done aswell actually...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00373.jpg

this guys gonna have greenstuff on the shoulder pads to make bands going from right to left and then rivets added to the pads and the torso (can't think how else to describe it)

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00371.jpg

I'd really like to hear any suggestions from you guys as to where to go now with some of these, especially regarding the guy with the missing arm....

thanks, andrew :D

  • 1 month later...

soz for the double post, but i've not been totally idle with the army... i've got the wolves for my lord now...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00523.jpg

they are about the same height as a marine, but when you compare them to the finished space wolf on his scenic base, they don't look ridonculously big...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00525.jpg

then i've got a very WIP grey hunter... not much done but it gives you an idea of the overall look of them when they are finished

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00532.jpg

then theres some more work done to one of my wolf guard...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00528.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00530.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00529.jpg

i'm not happy with the shoulder pads but the fur looks ok.

then i think i've found a solution to the missing arm on the othr wolf guard... the shoulder pads are very WIP and will get a couple of plasticard layers and some green stuff on before they are done... they'll also have fur scultped underneath to cover the shoulders of the arms... kinda like a power armoured version of my 'pre-heresy-ish' termie.

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00526.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00527.jpg

then theres the leader of the wolf guard terminator bodyguard... he's had a few wolf tail talismans added and some small gems... plus more work to the drinking horn

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00534.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00533.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00537.jpg

still on greenstuff... the pack leader for the long fangs has had mutton chops put on... might not be the best pic but you get the idea

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00531.jpg

and lastly... more painting has been going on here, as most of you will have seen my painted wolf guard now i won't repost that (again) but i have been working on my new drop pod...

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00505.jpg

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp86/stinkenheim/DSC00508.jpg

and yes i realise that its not fully assembled but i needed to paint the interior details before i finished building it to get them how i wanted...

would love to hear your opinions as always guys...

some updates on my drop pod... all the metals pretty much done, just the restraints left but i'm not sure about whtehr they will be metal or grey like the armour... i did some minor conversions to it, considering its for my termies i thought it'd be a bit stupid having the top half of the restraint wih the gap for a marine backpack in there so i just snipped the top half off... i said it was minor... no other conversions planned, although i did make sure i filed the doors down slightly so they didn't scrape away the paint when they were opened and closed...

any sugestions on the painting the scorc marks when its done will be greatly appreciated.. normally i drybrush up from scrorched brown, through black and finally grey but i was wondering how you guys did it...

I love your work. However I'm too lazy to paint the inside of a drop pod in much detail black with catachan green screen and some green buttons. Got to make an entire company of drop pods. Maybe I'll glue them shut!!

lol... yeah it is alot of effort for something that generally won't be noticed but i wanted an army that was painted to almost the best of my ability... i find it holds my attention more than speed painting...

man i wish i could green stuff like. just one question how hard are drop pods to assemble. i want to buy like 4-6 of them

thanks for the compliment... with regards to the ease of building, i built the bottom half and doors as one part, the gun mount and turbine that the 'fins' attatch to as another and now i can just slot the fins in place... also because i wanted to paint the central console in one go i had to clip the small 'tab' on the restraints so they would fit in easily once the botto half was done but it wasn't anything major... also i have heard that sometimes the doors don't line up but mine seem to be fine...

Wow, those are cool! Where did u get the wolves?

ok heres the title of one of the wolves...

Circle of Orboros #72040 War Wolf Solo from the Hordes range of Privateer Press models...

The other is from "Kaya the Moonhunter and Laris" blister

i got them from this site cos i was too lazy to search around for a uk one.... http://www.miniaturemarket.com and the postage was really quick so i was happy...

I'm waiting on my .5mm drill bit and plastic rod to arrive and then i should be able to finish the rivits on some of my termies so the next one i want to paint is the pre heresy style one... could be fun :)

as always i'll keep you guys posted
