well done on the quality of your painting its a shame gamesworkshop dont have the same high standards when making their mini's the plasma cannon muzzle is badly misshapen NOT YOUR FAULT. the paint is as good as any ive seen *doughs cap in appreciation*, might be worth while filling it in with green stuff and then drilling it out tho ;)

Righty,

With the release of the new GKT I was inspired. The models and bits are lovely and I just had to find a place for them in my army. Since all my troops are done and my Captain too I was left with only a librarian and chaplain to do.

Thus I give you the Librarian (yes, I recycled his arms and shoulder pads from my previous plastic librarian) The interesting part is that since I have this nice new mini I have actually been using him in games. He has been remarkably effective. DA librarians may not have the best powers but they are still pretty handy in combat.

And then comes the chaplain. I havent used him yet as he has just been completed. However I cant wait. I know that his weapon is a departure from the typical crozius but I wanted to give him the most horrific and terrifying weapon I could. Thus he comes equipped with a Power Flail and I must say, it looks terrific.

The only thing I would say about the chappy is that his body seems to be lacking energy compared to the energy in his flail!

Did what I could with the existing bits. Used the legs that have the left leg forward to show him putting his weight into the blow.

Latest addition. Ultramarine Terminator Captain armed with Storm Shield and Sword (counts as Thunderhammer). Used part of the AOBR captain for his body. Also made the Ultra emblem on his shoulder myself out of greenstuff.

Turned out pretty well and I am looking forward to using him at some stage.

Very nice painting on the armor. I like the shield, too.

A constructive criticism, though: the skin needs some work. It's a bit patchy. I use a lot of washes when I do flesh. Try Tallarn Flesh base, then wash it brown, then highlight with Tallarn Flesh again. Works well for me.

But seriously nice models. I really like them.

Wow that captain torso front looks great on him, was there any difficulty getting it to fit properly?

Vulkan

A fair amount. Normally fitting a normal PA torso isnt too hard but the AOBR one has lots of extra bits that have to be hacked off. It took a fair amount of Greenstuff and you can actually see where I havent done a very good job joining the torso together under his sword arm.

@ The 40k Hobbiest: With me my faces are pretty hit and miss. Sometimes they come out really well and other times not so much. This one was made harder as I had to glue the head in before I painted. So couldnt strip it down when it didnt come out 100%

Please share your methods for doing power swords / LC's. Unless I have it right, from what I can see, you paint black, then colored lightning bolt type things, then highlight white, then colored wash?

Close. I use a very dark blue as the base. I then use increasingly lighter shades of the colour I want with a final fine line of white in the centre to represent the hottest part.

Lastly I use a gloss varnish over the blade to give a nice glistening look. Dont use washes for the blade though do use on the hilt.

i love your librarian looks really good. question, where is the chap head and flail from?

The chaplain head comes off the Tomb Kings Necrosphinx sprue and then converted using Rons method http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2010/11/ch...conversion.html

Flail is from the chaos terminators power mace and the empire flagellents box
