Hello guys. I joined this site to give my painting a kickstart. I have many models unpainted and Im trying to change that.
Anyway on to Calgar- Ive got to this point and Im wondering whether it would look reasonable to have more gold on the bolters and feed to signify its a one off type of item or would this be to much.   Any C& C Welcome as I also joined this site to improve my painting. P.S Sorry about the photos it was a first attempt. I think adding more gold should be fine, or at least a very light colored brass, for photos use the macro (has a flower symbol) for models because it picks out detail

i recommend to use gold for adornments and a more martial color for weapons.

Heres some more WIP.
Blood Angels  DIY Marines- No name as yet  Ulrik  Space wolve HQ. Tried black lining on shoulder pad, and on ulrik, but not really sure it works.   Deathwing Land raider Crusader WIP  and the beginnings of the deathwing squad for the land raider  Chaos Space MArines-Black Legion  I find it hard to concentrate on one thing so end up going from one thing to another. Just started parting up my Iron Warriors.
 Heres the first batch basecoated and washed, and theres another 25 at the same stage. Now just debating on whether to go gold or bronze on the trim on the armour Hmmm? Heres what I was working on last night. I was trying to get the face to look right. Hopefully I achieved that!
I still need to fill in around the head with some black, and the metallic part on the side of the face.

The face looks good so far as I can see. Good job there
 Your other mini's look a tad on the glossy side, maybe a wash or two would help tone it down a bit?

Have been experimenting with sanguinary guard to find a way to paint there armour.
 Also have been doing imperial fist lysander, as I quite like the model.

So have been doing some more work on lysander. Have tried to shade model, and also start highlighting the armour. Im not sure it really worked. Have also done some more work on the cloak.
Any comments or advice much appreciated!  Sorry about the next picture.

Heres some more of my iron warriors. I have about anohter 25 at around this stage. I still need to go over with badab black as metallics still abit bright in a couple of places, and also to do the horns on the helmets and shoulder pads, and of course the chapter icons transfers. In the pictures the armour looks brighter than it actually is.
Also before anyone mentions hazard stripes- I will include some in the unit but not on every marine as Im trying to go for a overall look for the army of dark and grim, and therefore not many bright colours on the models.

Well that's quite some good painting you've got there. Nice Iron Warriors. Any more work on Calgar?

Hope these pics are better.Not much more has been done. Apart from I reworked the armour and cloak on calgar. Though I think the shading and highlights on calgar are to subtle, and it generally needs to neatened up. I still need to do alot of work on the midsections as have been differing on what to do!

I have been doing some Iron warriors and word bearers for a while, and Im planning on concentrating on them over the summer. Im also hoping to finish them before mid Autumn. I havent decided exactly on the number of points of each of the two armies, but at least 2000pts each.
I will be doing both Iron warriors and Word Bearers as they are my two favourite legions. Look forward to hearing all your comments and Critiscm.  Some finished models

Any chance of a Paints List, or even a Tutorial? 'm wondering how you achieved that awesome Metallic Armour.
