aeroplane Posted July 13, 2009 Share Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) I am currently in the midsts of building and painting a Death Guard army, tentatively named 'The Antares Malestrom'. (My main Chaos army is 'Perdition's Flames', a cookie to whomever get the reference...) I must thank _Cadaver_ and PlagueBearer for inspiration - I was merely going to make a unit or two of Plague Marines, but their work and posts gave me a bunch of ideas and techniques, and an entire force solidified in my mind... In the beginning the army list is going to follow the tenants of demetriiTZ; 2 winged, warptime Daemon Princes, a bunch of Plague Marines in Rhinos, and (to start) three Vindicators. More units will undoubtedly follow. Currently I have 20-something Plague Marines complete, and this Rhino. 3 more Rhinos are very close to complete, and the first Vindi is coming along nicely. Those aren't really 'squads', just groups of 7 for the photos. (Hence the lightning claws...) I have a bunch of guys on the bench right now, mostly special weapons and a couple of champs. They have the ethos of warrior-priests of Nurgle (one could almpst imagine that a band of Word Bearers became infected with some hideous warp-spawned delirium and came under the exclusive sway of Grandfather Nurgle). To that end, nothing has happened in a while but there has been progress - just nothing finished. Specifically; The remaining 3 Rhinos are 95% complete today. Those should be done in a day or two. (11Aug09 - all rhinos complete) The (2) Vindicators are also very close, those should be done slightly after the Rhinos. I have modified my all-bitz Defiler to be part of this army, and made it slightly magnetic.(11Aug09 - complete) I needed a few specific troopers (Powerfists, flamers, a plasma, and a couple more melta) they are all built. However, once I got done distributing all my neat Death Guard bitz and shoulderpads onto many models, I ended up with 20 more guys!!!! The Forge World Termies are coming along nicely. (but slowly) And to top it all off, I got a box of WFB Crypt GHouls to use as lesser Daemons. They are great models. (assembeled and primed - but I have no idea what kind of paint scheme to use on them...)
