Now that Space Hulk is nearly upon us i was wondering, how many players will paint their terminators in the traditional Blood Angels colour scheme and how many will go for something compleatly different?

I personally am going for a mix of Blood Angels and Flesh Tearers to create an interesting feel to my games of Space Hulk.

Mh, just today I wondererd about the same.

So, I´ll start with a black primer, then a whtie one( its not that stupid as it sounds, believe me^^), so that the colours will have a better "grip" to the model.
Then some layers of thinned blood red, only to have a basecoat so that I can do the further steps.

Just after that, I will darken the red a bit with several layers of thinned scorched brown, the shadows on the downside.
The next step will be highlighting the blood red with a mix of 1:1 br and blazing orange, for further steps the blazing orange will be increased.

Okay, that`ll be the red, I have already tried out some techniques for gold and silver and I am quite happy with it.

The face will be set up with several steps from bestial brown and some parts of dwarf flesh. I have already thought of Sgt. Lorenzo`s(the guy with power sword...) rather pale face so adding some fortress grey might do that.

Yeah, that`s my idea so far.

Greets,

Snorri

I'll paint them as Angels Vermillion and get some magnets and round bases and use them in both games.

I'm an Ultra collector, but I'm also a stickler for 'historical accuracy', so I'm probably going to cave and paint them as Blood Angels =)

(Can always use them as Termies in my Ultra list, I'm sure no-one would be too fussy with them as counts as Codex Termies)

I don't think I will be painting my models, for starters my painting skills just aren't that good yet and secondly if I would paint my termies I think I should have to paint the Genestealers aswell and dagnabbit those are a whole lot of Genestealers.

Wait, what? Are you claiming that priming twice will provide better grip than just priming once? I'm not trying to offend but that's one of the weirdest things I have heared in a long long time.

Yup, that`s just what I said. I regularly have a look at a overpro-master-uberchief of doom-painting forum, where this technique is described, but I am not sure if my English is good enough to sum it up...but I´ll try it:

Okay, start with the black primer. Until now there should be no problems^^ Let that foundation dry.
Then you take your white primer can, shake it a bit, and then you spray into nowhere above the mini and pull your can just across your miniature, so that the "colourdust"(not even the primer itself, its just the kind of dust that flies around when you spray...) covers the mini. If understood, repeat the procedure so that your miniature has a raw surface, it will keep liquid colours easier than a mini not covered with the stuff.

So, until now you`ll have a miniature with black primer, but it looks rather grey because of that thin layer of white.

Picster is also registered in that forum, here`s the link:

http://www.maxpaint.de/forum/kb-techniken-...en-seite-4.html

It is german forum, but there are some pics so you probably understand the main thing. There`s also a vid, so best conditions smile.gif

Yes, I liked Blood Angels before anyway, but with the onset of Space Hulk I'm really coming to earn a healthy respect for their fluff =D

I especially liked the idea of some Blood Angels being able to stave off the onset Black Rage through willpower, as some posters in a few threads seem to be reading from the rulebooks. This is good because, while I like the tragic duality of the Blood Angels, I never liked the idea of playing an utterly doomed Chapter. I'm also a big fan of mind over matter ideas in fiction.

Also, if they lost 950 Marines, I think it's my duty to help swell the ranks where I can ;p

Damn...unfortunately, it seems Space Hulk is sold out online now and I have no way of getting to a GW this weekend. <rage>

Oh well, I shall paint your chapter a Tactical Squad at some point instead ;p

I'll be doing them straight up BA. Just as soon as I've made greenstuff moulds of all the iconography I want off them. I am actually considering doing them using enamels rather than acrylics - I feel the sculpts deserve the difference in paint thickness.

Seeing as how I play Blood Angels... they're getting the Blood Angel treatment. That Green stuff mold idea sounds interesting, though.. is it as simple as "stick green stuff on, pull it off, let it dry, stick new green stuff in the dried green stuff mold?"

Well I've never actually tried it before, but basically yes - just be sure to cover the mini with vegetable oil or vaseline or somesuch so the greenstuff doesn't stick to it.

its more.
1) wet/oil the model
2) Press GS over the detail you want
3) let cure
4) remove
5) your done just put alittle GS in the model and press it against something to get the detail. If for example your making shoulder pad raised Iconography its best to have actual shoulder pads about to use as a base.

Thats a personal preference I've tried vaseline, vegetable oil, a variety of lip balms and the best I found was dollar store lip balm or spit personally. But thats me, what you prefere is your own business.
