Hi everone

 

Well for those who don't know, UK Games Day was yesterday & a lot of Space Wolves on pre-release. Being that I like the models, the conversion & the book, though be cool to make them as my next tournament army along with my Iron Warriors for next year tournament session.

 

So this topic will be a account of my Space Wolves.

So today will see me going to my local GW & getting this lot build, also need to pick up a box of Gaunts to convert up for the base. Then hopeful start painting on tomorrow or possible Wed.

they look good but if you really dig the fluff there's a small thing you may want to change.

once a space wolf becomes a grey hunter he's allowed to grow himself a beard as a sign of honour, and as such every non bloodclaw model would have a beard, especially a wolf lord.

I have a game vs Paul tomorrow but if I do have the time free or in a few week time be happy for a game with the Wolves (after Oct 17th/18th will be focuse on Wolves as right now tournament session with the IW :wub: )

After recover from Games Day & having a mere 8 hour of sleep since Sat to today.........I mange to get some focuse & build my Wolves that my local GW store.

Right now I still have five Space Wolves models to make, one Land Speeder & a Drop Pod before my army is ready for the feild of battle.

 

Also you may notice in each squad of Grey Hunter, a Marine holding a beastman sheild. This is to mark out my Mark of Wulfen models, also though be cool to show them like this being close combat monster. In games no effect, just look cool & help me mark him out, more so while they are un-painted.

 

So in a bit I will make the remain five Marine & the Speeder. Drop Pods be built tomorrow, while the whole army will be undercaoted on the Wed :P

The army is now fully built ;) Just trying to get the energy (was in GW Edinbrugh give them there first game, but still not recover from GD effect). I have even painted my Wolf Lord today (he 65% done).

 

To make thing a bit more scary for you prot, I painted a WFB Chaos army (2250pts) in five hours for my gaming club tournament. I built, undercaoted, painted, varnish a 1500pts BFG Chaos fleet. I painted a xeno army with 150 models in two weeks for a friend. Then there my Daemons, Space Wolves Mk2, Iron Hands done in a month due to money & time.

- There going to be some celtic ruin/icon free hand painted onto my Drop Pods, might possible pull this off onto my standard troops as well.

- Home & away mission (3-4) from the Rule book request that each oppent have one object each. I will be makeing a diorama of a Lone Wolf having slaughter a Nid monster, but same time has took heavy damnge himself. It sort of be like the movie 13th Warrior after the main Viking king to be is stab with a posien (sp) blade, he killed the bad guys leader & then falled to those wounds but sit like a king

- d3+2 Counter, I need to get some idea for these. Might do Fallen Space Wolves

 

I think tomorrow I will get the base done, as to tired right now & I got the whole day tomorrow to undercaoted my Wolves. I am in no rush beside not wanting to use a un-painted army on the feild of battle, today was only because I wanted to try out the brand new codex.

I spent this moring on finish off the models before base them. Just adding cool bits like ammo bags, bolt pistol holster, knife's.

I still to put some detail to the Land Speeder base, but I'm running out of nids :)

 

So right now I am waiting on the PVA glue to dry a bit on the base, then I'll start undercaoting my army in half a hour time as I am not a fan of useing unpainted armies on the feild of battle.

 

Then Sat I should hopeful pick another box of Space Wolves to make me some Counters.

I wish it could be the case (getting them painted before the release) but want to take some time like I do with my IW. Still rememeber the day of making IW Mk2 army on 24th of Dec to x-mas day.

Just right now real life as well & still trying to recover from Games Day, today been the only time I had to be in my home & watch TV!!

 

Just got my two Pods & three Speeder left to undercaot

 

Also with this army I done not so many conversion as I would have like to. But overall the new Space Wolves spure just look cool & looking through my army it very rare that any two models are the same. Each one is a mini hero in his own right.

Still got more than enought bits (well if I had some Marine body spare) to build more

 

But I think I might get some painting done tonight as I really want to paint my Wolf Guard terminators as soon as possible.

May the Emperor bless Micheal Cricthon for that book which the film was based on. (Even though that book was based on Beowulf). There should be a few more objectives you could come up with, a Grey Hunter killed by Tyranid weapons fire while destroying a digestion stack (whatever those things are called)

I have to ask, but are you a daemon? Because theres no way no human could build an army that quickly! Someone call the Inquisition!!!

 

Apart from the two painted drop pods, these where all built on Mon in my local GW, since they where bought on Sun that Games Day & I did not get back home until 1am Mon since it was a 7 to 8 hour trip, so no way they where going to get built then as sleeping was more important, the once built about where done on Mon moring 7.30am due to bin worker being very loud out side. As said above I painted a WFB chaos army in five hour the day before my gaming club tournament, built/painted & varnish a Battlefleet gothic army base around my Iron Warriors from 10am when I got my order to 6pm.

 

Built & undercaoted my Raven Wing army in a day (still have nightmare about the old Speeder). Painted 150 Xeno of the green skin type with 9 Killer kan & 2 Dreadnought in two weeks.

Got my Black Legion army built & painted in the space for four days.

I built some 120 Guards & two Leman Russ in 8 hours when I use to work for GW or there the 40 Zombies I painted in 30 mins that was 10.30pm to 11pm due to me finish a shift that GW last year & trains being dely, had the new codex Daemons that day as well but could not read it due to needing the Zombies for a in store event we done & not being allow to read the codex daemon on the train with it being not release that the time.

 

You should check out the other logs I have where it only took a short amount of time to get my armies done (beside my Iron Warriors).

 

It has been well know that my club/store & part of many jokes (some say I am a machine) my abilty to get a army built or painted in a short amount of time.

 

But for this the painting will be a bit longer....hopeful as I need my Wolves to hopeful last me until Nov, but then again I preffer playing with full painted armies so might be done before then.

Start undercaoting around 1.30pm, each model has two spray from the GW Black undercoat (it get ride of the funny texture the first coat been leaving recently). Two Pods have just been undercaoted inside.

(3 godfex's, 2 tyrants, 2 'without number' gaunt swarms). for a long time i've thought you were someone else (guy who is also from glasgow area, and very rarely brings Orks to edinburgh), but now it's 'clicked'. *feels silly*

Yes it was that Paul who I was testing this new Wolf army against ;) Don't worry it took people a while to find me out as there been challenge in GW Edinbrugh when I use to work there to find out my username & recently there was a hunt that Games Day to find out who I was.

 

But if your still up for a game in two week time vs the Wolves just PM me. Hopeful have quite a lot of these painted.

Drop Pods are now dry. Going to try get some painting done in a bit, depend what happen might have some photos by tomorrow...or tonight being the building, gaming (use to get 15 games a week), painting machine that I am ;)

yea but not all non blood claws have beards. i mean ragnar doesnt have a beard, but that may just be the 17 year old model of him.

But first up, I would like to kindly ask if we could stop the discussion about Wolves & beard, Hendrik has been kind to point out some background to me :) but we don't need other turn this topic to turn into a "wolf with beard" topic -_- Thanks.

Update

 

Time for another little update & though it be good with today being the release of the Space Wolves ;)

 

First up, over the next two week update will be up/down. This is due to me focuse on my Iron Warriors Chaos Marines for this year UKGT heat 1 which is two week from today. As I'll be getting some new last min models built & painted (never sit right with me if your not painting to the very last few moment before a event). I've just went for painting the Wolf Guards right away due to being cool models.

- Celtic ruin/Viking ruins

- I am temp to give battle chip armour a try for the first time to bring a bit more to the Grey Power Armour, also they been battle Nids.... they would exspect to get some damnge

- Going to paint tatoo's (sp) onto the heads

Still lots to do as well, with the Grey Hunters I will be useing Viking ruin icon as squad marking which you can see on the Drop Pods door's.

 

Also after having two battles, it has given me a lot of insight into my army. The list has been good overall, though one area has been the Ruin Priest....they are great, but he need a bit more armour as it where. So I change a few things in my list to give him Terminator armour which will also help him a bit more with his sage. That & I also saw the new Storm-caller model today & knew I wanted the model in my army (I am currently useing the Power Armour version of him from 2nd Ed era)

Again still lot's to do. I was painting him while watch Outlander (guy from the future who get stuck during Viking times & has to take on a monster). Got to say I really like the model & did not wish to do much conversion other than to give him a cool base. Also just the amount of detail on Storm-called.

 

I'm hope to make a start on some more Grey Hunter this week but after that it'll be my Iron Warriors as I'll only have a week from Mon & Tue..possible Thur to get those last min painting in before the Grand Tournament.

Little bit of a update.

 

Been painting my Space Wolves on/off this week (real life with a few meeting this week). Right now my aim just to get my army painted, not finish....just painted because I am not a fan of unpainted/undercaoted armies. Only do this ever so often to try out my new army (useing them unpainted/undercaoted) to get a idea & make any quick change.

As said still a lot of work to do to these models.

- Celtic ruin

- Free hand painted Wolf heads on the shoulder pads

- Tide up some detail

- Squad markings

 

Just right now I'm aim to get them just painted, then go back to these detail later on.

This would be from the boxies showen in the orignaly post. It good to have a few spare Terminators in-case I need to change any of my Wolfs Guards, or I'm currently thinking of add another unit (I did buy three boxies after all of Terminators) of Wolf Guard Terminators to be my Ruin Priest bodyguards.

 

Also while that my local GW yesterday getting most these Wolfs painted, I spoted that they only have one box left of the Power Armour wolfs before the next order of course. Though be best buy it, kept it to one side, again in case of any new units or Wolf Guards I want into Power Armour.

Like wise I am needing to convert up a Lone Wolf for my local GW painting comp that they will be doing at the end of the month. Should hopeful get him converted tonight & will add onto here. He will sadily not be use in my current army list. I'm just converting him for this painting comp & because I like the whole idea behind the Lone Wolf. Then again I can use this as a excuse to get my Object counter done :)

I use some of the ruin stone from bit of the new wolf kit I cut off. These rep the first letter of his squad mate names, so he carry there icon/sign into battle in honour of them. The scroll on the left shoulder pad is his oath to get revange for his departed battle brother. With the Terminators armour, way I see it is, he granted any wargear to met his death or glory.

 

I really like the idea & background to the Lone Wolfs. I will not be useing one in my curry drop pod list. However for this model, I like how he turn out. So I might be dropping a few thing to include him into my Wolf Lord bodyguards. Be cool theme wise that he has complete his oath & take part in the might Wolf Guards. Well see what the future hold for this model, but right now he for my local GW store painting comp.
