Khrangar Posted October 16, 2009 Share Posted October 16, 2009 Looks amazing. I love the use of the Khan for the conversion. The one thing that seems to be a bit sub par with the rest of the model is the GSed hair on the topknot. I'm sure it'll look a lot better painted, but right now it seems kind of off to me. While it would be an upgrade, probably won't compare to this. Pay attention to this model, Citadel! This is the stuff we like to see... Awesome work, the wolf head is spectacular. DV8 Posted October 18, 2009 Author Share Posted October 18, 2009 @Khrangar - Yup the hair is meant to mimic the topknot/ponytail, but without being as "chunky". The implication is motion, and to give the original plastic part more depth. @Evilmerlin - Yea I had considered it. There's originally the trademark lightning bolt of the White SCars, but as a fair portion of my infantry is the more "traditional/Imperial" Sternguard, I decided to keep the laurels to help tie him in with my infantry. @Grey Mage/kapturowski/cyrox - That was what I thought too, until I dry-fit the model together. It reminds me a lot of the larger bastard/zweihander swords. I'd always felt Ragnar's sword was too short, and I wanted a weapon that was big enough it could be swung with power, and yet elegant-looking/thin enough that it would reward a more delicate, precise touch. @Florida Gator - Green stuff and patience. The head of the wolf was made with one of the wolf-head helmets from the new Space Wolves pack. I cut off the back 2/3, and filed the shoulderpad flat so it would fit properly. I then green-stuffed the triangular "mane" in layers, bottom/widest first, and working my way in. You have to make sure you keep them sharp, and let the layer cure first before doing the next layer. Same process as the gauntlets. Only took about 2 days to do. @kanan - The base model is Kor'sarro Khan. You can pick him up from Direct Services or from an LGS that may have them. Zeroeightfive picked up the last one from Hero's World (Highway 7 and Warden) for me, so I got lucky and didn't have to order it online.
