I think it depends also from the mix of water/white glue/Sodium bicarbonate . This is a photo of Njal and his base where the snow is dry . I have to correct some things like the red things on the snow (i used them to help me to place Njal) . http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/3194/njal.jpg To do this effect you must : 1)mix some water and some white glue 2)add to the mix some sodium bicarbonate and mix them ...if you put too much bicarbonate add water and white glue until you reach the mixture that you like 3)put it on the base (i usually paint the base with adeptus battlegrey before this step .) I tried a modeling snow product on my wolves and the result was more like ice than snow. I think I'll try using them together to see how the effect comes out. Personally I think you put a bit too much snow on the first termie (that's just my preference) but it gives a nice effect of charging through heavy snow. Also call me picky but I have a thing for neat base edges (once again, its just me) , but overall I think you did a great job. Well done :D Edit: According to my friend model builders, snow turns yellow due to several reasons. It could be the brand of white glue that turns yellowish instead of transparent when dry. Sometimes the soda absorbs some of the paint pigment (especially if the paint hasn't dried properly), and sometimes it has to do with impurities within baking soda of low quality and purity. Growler67 Posted November 15, 2009 Share Posted November 15, 2009 One way to fix the "ice glaze" appearance is after you apply it to your base, "dust" it with more baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Even waiting a few minutes (depending on how wet you make the mixture) so that the fresh dusting doesn't soak in. This will leave a gritty texture to the surface rather than the "ice glazed" one and give you a more "fresh snow" look. The optional application is to paint your white glue onto your base (if you want less snow or snow only on certain spots) then dust with the baking soda. You broke the brightness of the yellow on that Imperial Fists' dread very realistically without loosing the quality of the yellow.
