Well, I suppose I will stuff this thread with Witch Hunter WIP from my upcoming army. A lady Inquisitor's Private Army, using Codex Imperial Guard and Codex Witch Hunters. I will also field my Battle Sisters with this army. Kill two birds with one stone and all that. Anyways, first mini should be a quick job. A Sister Repentia, whom will count as a Vindicare, because I like snipers...

Need to neaten up the rifle and hood and complete the carapace armour and scope on this one. Also, I can see now from the pictures that there is some crazy stuff going on at her knee pad that needs fixing.

Parts used in this conversion:

- Eldar Ranger Kneeling Observing

- The Head of Reaper's Rosie, Chronotechnician

- Two Death Korps Stormtrooper Hellgun barrels

- One Death Korps Lasgun

EDIT: I also need suggestions for camouflage schemes. Urban ones preferably.

Nice conversion, I like it a lot. Although that is one long barrel, maybe add a bipod to the end to help stabilise it?

As for camoflague, I would say it depends on the colour of the armour, as a count-as Vindicare you going traditional black, or something a bit more colourful?

Black armour.

As for the bi-pod, I think I might have one. It is a good idea I never thought about. I will give it a try and see how it looks. If it looks out of place on the gun, then I will probably just have it else where on her possession.

Well digital camo would be cool if you could pull it off, but it is an absolute mother to paint. Some other urban camos are

Or if you want to brighten them a bit, add some dark blues

http://www.kamouflage.net/camouflage/00032.php This one I like. Looks simple enough to paint, in comparison with digital. I will go for it. Also, might I add, I have updated the gun. The brown extension was cut out and the barrel made shorter instead. I also changed the lasgun grip to an autogun grip.

I modded her cloak so that it looked like it accommodated her armour a little better, sorted out the impression for the Eldar backpack on her back, gave her a few grenades, and a close combat weapon. Also a purity seal, to hide where a cable went into the eye piece of the scope. The rifle had some work done to it, and I dealt with her hands. Also, note that the Eldar icon has been changed into an Aquila icon.

The obvious changes after this are to the fingers that are slightly off, the cloth work, the scope, and I want to add a folded up bipod onto the barrel. The grip on the rifle also needs resculpting on some parts. It was a bit of a miscast.

And yes, her close combat weapon is the spade. Because what is not cool about some enemy getting a spade through his face?

I really like this little conversion you got going here. I just don't think I am voting "yes" on proposition Giant Shovel. It's really big, and it's working against the sillouettte of the head. If you repositioned maybe it would work still. But I don't think you need it. Also, is there a big gap between the imperial gun bits and the eldar rifle butt that was part of the original model? I assume you would fill it, unless you had other plans for it. Also, what's the deal with this being repentia? I personally think that changing the unit profiles to something that's more thematic for your army is what everyone should do. I just don't know why calling this vindicare a repentia is nesseccary? Maybe she could just be an inquisitor, or some bad ass gaurd lady...I also think that as long as there's reason, then it should be cool. I guess I'm less saying "Don't make her a repentia" and I am more over asking "Why is she a repentia, cause I want to hear the cool story."

Also I was thinking of calling my armor MK Something, but it's pretty close to the original sisters armor, and I don't think they make half MKs. lol

:D

On the issue of the whole Repentia with Sniper thing, there is a story behind that...

I am going from the 'nomadic outcast' angle of the Sister Repentia. This was the concept that I liked most, since when I first heard of them, the current Witch Hunter codex did not exist. I liked the idea of travelling exiles as they used to be presented, getting any equipment and weapons they can find and aiding Imperial armies in dire need of assistance. Anti Heroes, you could say. As you can imagine, when the current Repentia models came out, I was in for a surprise. It was like turning Blade into a comical looking man hooker. So when it came to my own army, it was another thing I had to change with a new style of models and rules to represent single characters with specialised battlefield roles. The Vindicare rules worked best for the sniper Repentia, however, any future one might be trickier to work with on the other Assassin rules, so I might go Elite Inquisitor for them.

But anyways, this Sister has her own back story. She was permanently exiled for desertion and cowardice on her first mission. Since she was terrible as a shock trooper, over her time aiding the Imperial cause as a loner, she has advanced her skills as a marksman, taking up the role of sniper. She has given up on trying to regain her position in her Order, but she will continue to gain favour to redeem herself in the eyes of the Emperor. There will be a longer story for her, likely, since she is also to be a RPG character on another site.

As for the shovel, there has been a negative response to it on three out of four sites this is on, so I am going to replace it with a E-tool, which is basically a shovel that folds into three parts. Which should cover that issue. As for the gap between the Imperial and Eldar bits, I think that is mostly caused by the 'hole' at the butt, which will be filled up. The cable will remain, because that is going to be the main power source for the weapon, with the lasgun powerpack being overcharged to provide the same effects as special ammo.

Whilst I am working on the Repentia, I have also been working on the Inquisitor.

First off I replaced the head with one from Infinity. Infinity heads are normally too small for Warhammer 40k models, but with the WH Inquisitor model, it's just fine. I also never liked the legs being as long as they were, so I cut her feet off. I'll sculpt them again later. I also need to sort her arms out to keep them in proportion, and get rid of that giant nasty book. I have also started work on sculpting her power armour, as you can see. There is a long, long, long way to go with this model, but at least the basic idea is going to plan. I do love how short she is. It makes her look adorable in comparison with other troops. It also highlights how she is not a fighter, since she provides psychic suppose to my army. On that note, there will be a psychic hood.

I think I might just be done with the Repentia. I didn't go with the spade, both full or fold out, nor did I go with a bi-pod. There was just no where to place them on the model. Instead I went with a knife as the CC weapon, and a bag with bed roll, to make her look like she spends a while out in the field of battle. I also added a pistol, to represent the Exitus pistol. Most of the other work was put into making her look more 'Imperial'. Also note that the green stuff rivets on the rifle will be filed into shape. They are currently still curing.

More work on the Inquisitor has been done. She has a new head and more armour work done. On each of the upside down triangle shaped plates there will be an aquila. Also, looking at her now, I reckon the knee pads could be moved up a tad. I also intent to remove the book, and sort the arms and boots out next.

Armoured, yes, but big...

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k156/Terrible_Trygon/Witch%20Hunters/DSCF0802.jpg

Considering that the Sister is probably just over 6ft tall in RL (she would likely stand taller then a Guardsman, and those models are supposed to be around 6ft tall in RL), by comparing her kneeling to the Inquisitor, the Inquisitor's shortness is pretty apparent. I suppose some height will be added when she has feet, but not much.

Though the Inquisitor's head has been replaced with a head lopped off a Hasselfree model. Their Necromancer chick, I think.

Loving the work so far Terrible Trygon. I just tried to view the link you posted, but keep getting "Service Unavailable" message from that site. :/

I did this prototype trooper to test the colour scheme. Looking like a proper Agent of the Ordo Hereticus already though.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k156/Terrible_Trygon/Witch%20Hunters/DSCF0821.jpghttp://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k156/Terrible_Trygon/Witch%20Hunters/DSCF0822.jpg

Note that I have had to scavenge the torso from an old one piece Empire spearman, which is why it required so much work to fit. When I use fantasy Empire and Bretonnian parts for the torso and head, most of the sculpting you see now will be eliminated. I will, however, still sculpt helmets for heads I like, and the woman in the squads. I will also still be covering up the trim on the shirts, because I don't like them. All the lasguns will be FW Death Korps, as will all the Special Weapons. Why? Because I hate the plastic guard weapons. They're HUGE. Plus, the FW lasgun has so many interesting textures and details, unlike the Cadian lasgun, which is basically a stick with a stock on one end and a barrel on the other. Another thing is the plastic lasgun powercell case from the Cadian set. I modded it to make it into a normal pouch. It will still serve to carry powercells, but because the FW lasgun powercells are so much smaller, the pouch can carry at least four of them, solving the ammo problem. The backpack is from MaxMini. I strongly advise all guard players to get them.

Here is a basic idea of the scheme, still in PIP. I am very pleased with the red. Gold is still not even half way to being finished. Also, bear in mind this is was taken in unnatural light. I'll take a natural light pic when the model is finished. The Nurgling is there because... -shrugs-
