Iron Snakes Battleforce WIP

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I've just started out on a new project, an Iron Snakes battle force.

I had a crack at a test mini yesterday and would like to hear any feedback you have.

I've not painted on the chapter symbol yet because I've just discovered I've not got any blue paint!!

Cheers

;)

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I'm going to make a regular codex force using them, but I will probably have one member per tac squad tooled up with a load of extra pouches etc, so in effect they have a 'medic' per squad. Fluffy but rules-legal!

Apologies for the shoddy camera work, I'm using my mobile and it's rubbish. I'll try to convince my gf to let me use her proper camera later and upload some proper pictures.

Not sure about the lenses, I've seen a lot of nice green ones which I think would make a nice contrast to the red trim, what do you guys think?

are you going to give the sarges hunting lances as i think in there fluff they have those aswell dont they . very nice model though cant wait to see a squad of these truly brilliant work there falcon

I'm not sure, I was thinking about trying to convert hunting lances/shields for the assault squad that comes in the battle force. I've base coated 4 more marines now so I'll probably have them at a similar stage to the test mini tomorrow. I'll post pics then if I get a chance.

Not hunting lances, but "sea lances". They're basically just regular spears.

They'd look really nice on an Assault squad. Just be sure to give them all shields too.

"greek" style shields would look best imo.

Thanks guys,

I was thinking about ordering ten of these shields from maxmini:

I like the ones on the left best, so was going to order ten of them, 5 for the assault squad and 5 for HQ models.

I'm still not sure on the best look for the lances though, any suggestions?

:)

Two shots of the 5 marines so far.

Just going to order the shields now, still unsure about what approach to take for the sea lances.

Going to try and freehand the chapter symbol tonight as well, so I'll post some pics of that asap.

Cheers guys, here's the promised freehand pics. I'm quite happy with how it turned out, I tried to carry out my chapter badge tutorial as closely as possible & whilst it's not perfect, he's only a tac marine, so it will suffice!

Ps. Please don't mention the mold line on his boot, it's bugging the hell out of me, I'm almost tempted to scrape and start the foot again!

I do something similar because of the restraints of battle, except i paint a white strip down the helmet and paint the left knee pad white

Hi guys,

Thanks very much for the feedback, I'm quite happy with the freehand and armour, I'll be putting more effort into the characters and squad sergeants. I might try a blue wash on the armour to see if that benefits it.

The shields have arrived but they are massive, far too large for PA marines, so they'll have to wait for some TDA!
