Lysander - Thanks man, the LR isnt nearly finished yet but im happy with it considering it was a right mess when i stripped it down. I probably wouldn't like to do any 'stripping' again. Its a lot of work and your never going to get a good finish. General update Ive just ordered some more AoBR termies, so thats good. I have 3 of the 5 Assault termies 80% painted, so the AoBR Termies will be chopped up and equipped with assault cannons etc. Also im going to book a beginners lesson at my local GW next week, as ive never played the game in 9 years of painting ( <_< ) Im really looking forward to that aswell. ;) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Only the vets left to finish, hopefully ill get most of them done tonight. Also just finished another terminator, tried a different painting method to the squad i just painted. darrkespur Posted March 4, 2010 Share Posted March 4, 2010 I've been doing similar things with my sniper scouts - adding a lot of terrain to their bases can make them look awesome. I think you're doing a good job with these lot - one thing with your greenstuffing - are you lubricating/wetting your sculpting tool/knife? Adding some oil/vaseline/spit/water to the blade was the best thing I did to improve mine. The only thing I don't like is using the normal Mk VII space marine helmet for heads on scouts/terminators - I'm not sure this looks right. It could work for the terminator with a bit of 'beefing up' using GS but on the scout it just looks too bulky for the scout suit. Scout helmets I've seen that look good have been lighter, more Imp guard style helmets, gas masks, etc. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bringer of Redemption Posted March 6, 2010 Share Posted March 6, 2010 I think the scouts look great--It helps that the snipers are some of the best looking models space marines get access to in terms of basic infantry (that is, if you happen to be like me and like you're models on the simpler side--no junk cluttering them up). All I would say is that if you're going with a camo theme for the scouts, you might want to consider using a dull gray/black camo pattern on the rifles and the power cords, as while the weathered metal looks good, it would probably stand out to much, given the basic idea of not being noticed. --BoR Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If he works out well i think ill move onto an Ork Dred and make a little diorama. Will have to get a wip topic up myself i think. Have to agree about the las though, maybe a little too long imo. Practice on a couple of cheap units first as appose to the expensive dreads etc, i ruined a combat squad with shakey hand sindrome!!
