Ive been at Ebay again and picked up 5 of the Space Hulk Terminators.

Im now in the process of removing the icons and getting them ready for paint.

The first one arrived today so Ive test fitted it with a forgeworld Shoulder pad.

Let me know what you think

Nicely done! Can't wait to see it painted!

I picked up a second Space Hulk in French, not that I speak French very well, just because it gave me a whole other set of minis and tiles. Epic Space Hulk games await... Also, if ever the French come over to play, they can read the rules in their own language!

im doing the same thing with the Space hulk termis but converting them into DA, have you come accross any particularly difficult to remove insignia yet?

I'll be watching with great interest!

Well, this caused me to order some FW pads for my Space hulk termies. :)

If you hadn't seen this project, take a look!

That's definately one of my favorite amongst the space hulk termies, and the FW pad really does him justice.

Thanks Guys

Xeonic: The forgeworld pads are ever so slightly smaller than the Space Hulk pads as the SH terminators are slightly bulkier. All I did was to shave the existing pad down and fit this ove the top. Ive got a full set of pads including the right ones so I may swap some of them out as they have a much sharper look. Id seen that conversion before but I dont think it had been finished. My GS isnt up to that standard so Im going to do something to my Lorenzo but Im not sure what yet!

AL. : To be honest this is the first one. Brother Leon with his Assult cannon arrived today so Ive started work on him. He is all blinged out with blood drops hanging everywhere. All the pads have cleaned up nicely but at the moment Im making a couple of GS press molds off 2 of the skulls on him. Tomorrow Im going to shave off the drops that are integrated into the chains and replace them with skulls. I'll give you an update then. Ive got five more on the way (Omnio, Zael, Lorenzo, Noctis and Caludio)

Goriels just had a spray coat of Chaos black so tomorrow he will be getting some colour on him.

Well I managed to get some colour on it last night and tonight.

Heres about three hours work.

The only thing Im not happy with at the moment is that the forgeworld resin pad is "lumpy" Its not the paint but the pad. I'll have to sort that out before I start highlighting

For lumpy FW pads I use my files to smooth what I can, if it still looks bad I use brown stuff to smooth it further then file the brown stuff till it is the way i want it.

Awesome painting so far, can't wait to see it when its finished.

Heres the latest update now with helmet and skulls done.

Ive got to wait for the weekend to do the Tyranid as I need a red ink.

The crap on the ultra pad is me having a go at removing the resin lumps.

3 of his pals turned up today. There are 3 more on the way.

I think Ill have this as my librarium challange. To convert and paint 6 SH Termies before the end of Feb..... Thats one per 5 days!!!

Al. Gold is pretty simple. Base coat of khemi brown, 2 washes of devlin mud. dry brush of burnished gold, wash of devlin mud (or 2 until it looks ok) then a highlight of shining gold and finally a wash of sepia.

As I cant do anything on the Tyranid until I get some red ink as as Ive just committed 5 terminators and a ironclad dread to the Librarium challange I thought Id make a start on Omnio.

He didnt have much in the way of icons except on his belt. Ive also swapped his pad for a Forgeworld one as the original was terrible and the crux blended with the pad!

Hes just gone for an undercoat so he'll get some colour this weekend

nicely done, shame GW won't allow SH models to be used in store

I was about to look for some of these on Ebay. They aren't usable in the store? Why not?

*shrugs* all I know is I remember walking in store asking the staff how popular space hulk has been in store, and them telling me nothing from space hulk is allowed in store and that its a general order type thing given to all GW's, I said "thats stupid", they said "yes it is" and shrugged and then I left after seeing no Imperial guard models at all.

It's pants on head retarded if it's true. They're GW plastic, current gen models, if someone spent the time to convert and properly base them I see no reason you shouldn't be allowed to use them.

I could understand it if people were playing them on their SH odd-shaped game bases, sure, as it's silly and complicates gameplay.

EDIT: I look at it this way. If they're going to allow forge world, or conversions based on lotr or fantasy stuff, then why not SH? Note that I've never been into a GW, as the only shops within 200+ miles are local gaming stores.

Odd, Ive used my converted ones in a few GW stores in London and have had no issues. Even had comments from the staff members.

Are the SH Termies exactly the same size as the normal ones? If so, that is just moronic. People go out and buy a GW product, put them on proper gaming bases to liven up their armies and are forbidden to use them for no sound reasoning what so ever. What were they smoking when they came up with that rule?

Ok then. just to bring us back onto topic after the last post I need a bit of advice.

The terminators about done with the exception of the Gun arm, lenses and then final highlights.

As hes just ripped the hell out of a tyranid the area looks pretty clean.

Ive seen another post on here where somone used Tamiya clear red as a gore wash. Ive got some of this and used it before for blood as it drys clear and shiney and has that thick look to it. Ive done a tester on a spare base.

The question is once its finished do I go gore happy and give his base, boots and arm some blood or would it spoil the paint job?
