Here's the first build of the Emperor's Champion i'm working on for the LPC. This is one evening's work, so still a good bit to go.

Right leg needs repositioned, and then there's all the green stuff work to go on the feet, back of knees, hands, arms, etc....

hmmmm. started the green-stuffing. forgot how much i hate the stuff!

so far filled and reculpted one hand joint to my liking. the knees and heels are not going quite to plan.....

thanks. i went for all things templar-y in the build. i thought the terminator shoulders gave a bit of added bulk but not as much as i'd have liked.

i'm also considering taking the dorsal vent off the helmet, and adding a few more seals that'll hang in the right direction to shore up some of the glitches.

green stuff work is done and now to the painting!

however... what are thoughts on a colour scheme? so far my trops are pretty much as per codex as far as colour, helms, shoulders insets and trims, etc...

the question is - although the EC model looks unique, what might make him stand out that little bit further from the rest of the gang? i'm not overly wanting to stray too far from the predominant black, but then again think that might leave him too samey. ^_^

keep us updated. that is a great positioning. He projects an air of warior confidence. "Yeah, I know I'm the ultimate badass, I don't have to show off to prove it."

Seconded, astartes are so good they need no one to remind them, and feel no need to flaunt it :) Brilliant pose

short update. not had much time.

this is him with his first highlight (i start with a quick drybrush - slightly odd, but works for me)

then pulled off his arms (ouch!) to start the main body painting. robe still needs finishing, with a little evening out, followed by detailing, though this will be one of the final steps after the rest of the model is complete. no pics of this yet, but we'll get there......

some progress. as said before, arms removed to allow better painting.

how does the bodywork stand so far? helmet is done. cloth work done. red and gold done. a few details to finish off. then the back pack and detailing. then a final highlight and evening out on the black.

then it's on to the arms, pads and sword. then a decent base to come up with.....

Decided to make this more of an ongoing WIP thread than just the LPC2010 thread.

So here's my next project.

A preheresy styled Sword Brethren Assault Terminator squad.

I'm just waiting on the Maxmini shoulder pads to come in.

The lower legs will be tidied up a bit and some of the imperfections (my GS-fu is not as strong as it could be....) will be hidden with some added decoration.

Some of the pile of stuff i'm using.....

Aiming for a full LRC mounted squad with 3 carrying thunderhammer and storm shield, the remainder lightning claws.

The Black Templars, and other second founding chapters, would still have had older style (thus preheresy) suits of armour.

I know the Death Watch pads are technically inaccurate, but i liked the raised rim on them. I'm still figuring out how to disguise their origin and get rid of the =I= link in the iconography - but i'll get there.

if i could find some decent artwork it would certainly be a possibility ;)

my thoughts on sigismund in the past had been to try a "true"-scale power armoured marine to make him stand out.
