These are my terminators, including a lord, 2 combimeltas, a combiflamer/powerfist, a heavyflamer/chainfist and a normal terminator. Close up of the heavy flamer terminator. 2 of my 6 obliterators. lord gunthar Posted May 6, 2010 Author Share Posted May 6, 2010 May update 1 for CoC IV Alright after a week of hardcore procrastination and barely painting I have found the time to post my first CoC update. The squad of chaos space marines is almost finished, all that remains is the eyes, skin and the other details. I havent yet started on the rhino, but i should be ok as I have 11 more weeks. Considering that i should probably add something new to my pledge. Expect something special if I complete this squad and the rhino before the end of may. Anyway no-one read that so time to post some pictures ! . Squad The squads meltagunners, one doesnt have one yet. Aspiring champion w powerfist and the icon bearer. Bolter csms. More bolters. lord gunthar Posted May 7, 2010 Author Share Posted May 7, 2010 Yes I have tried out abbadon, he is very good but i dont really like the model as it is to small compared to the plastic terminators, I will do a conversion of him using the terminator lord eventually but until then 1/2 daemon princes is good. I will edit in the photos when i take them in the next few days. I am also going to add a squad of obliterators to my pledge just bacause I have another 10 weeks to paint 1 rhino. Expect photos of them at the same time as the squad. Pictures squad The squad is finished , obliterators need more green stuffing and ones arm fell off :lol: , the rhino is just undercoated Expect the obliterators painted within 2 weeks Cheers. Also loads of school work last week/even more next week. Hoping to have my first june update in a few days, nothing amazing but i am making progress. hushrong Posted May 30, 2010 Share Posted May 30, 2010 I like seeing some black legion! but your pics lack a bit of detail, does your camera have a macro setting? if so it helps when taking pics of minis(its helped me greatly). i'm also interested in that DP as well and i saw a pic of it somewhere and it had different parts, arms and heads. but we wont know until that thing is released. lord gunthar Posted June 4, 2010 Author Share Posted June 4, 2010 CoC IV June update 1 Alright I have a 4 day weekend this weekend, 1st day is now finished, but if I try I might be able to complete my call. I got a pair of shiny new rhinos last sunday, I have them assembled mostly, just the things that go In the holes left. Obliterators have their flesh done and metal done, also one has a gorey space marine on his base which has been gored up. The rhino that has been painted just needs a few details ( bone, trim etc ) before it is finished. does your camera have a macro setting? lord gunthar Posted June 16, 2010 Author Share Posted June 16, 2010 I have been chipping away away at my call of chaos gradually, I have a tournament im going to in september, I will need to get my CoC and another couple of thing by then. Anyway I have spent this week sculpting this Khorne lord, his head is from the whfb warriors of chaos khorne lord on juggernought, arms are ork boys with terminator lord lighning claws, suitably khorny ( pun intended ) Legs are space marine legs from either the tactical sprue or command sprue that I completely reposed, lower right leg and groin are entirely sculpted ( proud of my green stuff skills that are coming along ) Everything else is pretty standard. I have been painting a lot, my call is finished, and on top of that i have nearly finished 2 rhinos, painted 2 obliterators, 10+ chaos marines, and most of a land raider for my salamanders. I have 2 tournaments with my chaos marines in the next week, my clubs 40k double which I am teamed with one of my friens who plays space wolves, and also a 1750 pt 5 game tournament in the weekend. The army shot I have included shows what I am using at the tournament, I have a few things I need to finish within the next 5 days. I have also included pip shots of my khorne lord. Images This is a shot of the finished call. Chaos marine squad. Squads aspiring champion. Meltagunners. Chaos rhino. Tournament army. Khorne lord. Now the call is complete im home free :unsure: Update in a month maybe, more likely I will start a hall of honour or a wip for my salamanders. Lord gunthar out. lord gunthar Posted July 5, 2010 Author Share Posted July 5, 2010 Thanks guys, I did pretty bad in the first tournament as I lost alot of points for having unpainted models, and for having a list with 4 obliterators. the next one is in september, new list + fully painted/based models = decent place. Marshal Wilhelm Posted July 5, 2010 Share Posted July 5, 2010 On taking photos; The light source needs to be coming from above/behind the camera. With you army shots, your lighting is coming from the sides. Imagine you are taking a photo of a friend. If the lighting was from the sides, friend's ears would be getting the light. The part we want to see, the face, is getting light from a bad angle and so we can't see it. An extreme example of lighting from a side (in this case, underneath) is when you shine a torch from underneath your face to look scary. Dramatic, yes, but no way to show of the face accurately. The minis shadows are falling to the side of them. The shadow needs to be behind them. As Brother Nihm (I think?) said, use macro if you have it. Then look at your photos on your computer. You'll see if they are show-casing your models effectively or not. I hope I have been of help. First good news, Last weekend I went to the new zealand grand tournament, fields of blood, and I came 27th overall. As the second youngest person there I think that is quite an acheivement, I used the following list. Daemon prince:W,Mon,WT 10 Csms:Ac w F, 2 mgs, IoCG, Rhino 10 Csms:Ac w F, 2 mgs, IoCG, Rhino 10 Csms:Ac w F, 2 mgs, IoCG, Rhino w EA 10 Csms:Ac w F, 2 flamers, IoCG, Rhino 3 Oblits Vindi 8 Havocs w 2 Autoc, 2 Ml Any way update, I got the Plastic Daemon prince model on monday, and using the base I won at the tournament ( from Iron Halo ) I had him assembled by last night. All I did to convert him was to make an awesome base, sculpt an eye on his chest and give him a wrecked helmet. His Base with dead sternguard veteran of the ultramarines. I made a boltgun for the sternguard that looked like the ones that come in the box, but I couldnt get any good shots of it. Scale shot with Metal daemon prince, Terminator, and pip tactical marine. In about a month my club is having its second kill team tournament, I was away for the first one and was determined to make an awesome looking kill team that still had a chance of winning. The list is : 5 Chosen Plasmagun, Icon of nurgle ( feel no pain ) Plasmagun ( relentless ) Meltagun Flamer, meltabomb ( move throught cover ) Flamer, meltabomb Total 200 pts Onto the models. Group shot Plasmagun, relentless Meltagunner Flamer meltabomb ( wip ) Plasmagun, Icon of nurgle, feel no pain. Flamer, meltabomb, move through cover.
