Thanks a lot!

I now do this every year for adepticon. I started thinking it up over a few months of last summer after last years con. I sent my buddy Hortwerth on Warseer some emails and had him sculpt the critters. Got it back in August. Went mad looking at it for months then finally took two weeks to paint it recently. The chest I built in my spare time over the past couple months then painted it along with the army. The trick is giving yourself plenty of time for hte ideas to ferment in your noodle ;)

Lovecraft? Everything with tentacles is not Cthulhu.

These are pirates, yarrr! :D

It's a labour of love from the look of it, I love it too!

All the little details like squids and fish and corals and stuff... awesome!!! Very characterful conversions, tons of fun!

The azure blue and orange rust is a very effective combination, hat's off. Great paintjobs all over, I'd love some bigger pictures and close-ups.

A run down of the units and what they represent would also be cool.

EDIT: noodle - guess you have also been touched by his Holy pastafarian appendage then. :)

Desmodu - Thanks!

People can interpret it as cthulu if they like. They arent really but there are all sorts of different inspirations so nothing is really "true." The only inspiration I think you couldnt argue is Pirates of the Caribbean haha!

The list is

Two lash princes with wings

6 oblits

Greater demon (octopuss)

4 units of 5 PMs with melta, flamer, combimelta fist sarge. Two units also have icons.

4 rhinos with combimeltas

Amazing work!

I can totally see the ruinous powers bestowing such gifts upon a band of heretics who had been trapped on an ocean world, perhaps one their battle barge crashed on.

Words fail me. Everything here is just so cool, from the concept to the execution. I love the octopus theme, and the salt-rusted Rhinos are gorgeous.

And...

... took two weeks to paint it recently.
... makes me cry. ;) I managed to paint 12 BA tactical marines and assemble/base-coat a land raider in that span. And that was nearly all my spare time.

Your models are amazing! I was looking at your website, and your concepts and creativity are so great. I am wondering: when you paint, what is your process like? Do you use an airbrush much? How do you finish things so quickly and get such a consistent appearance?

Its just experience. It comes with time. I paint full time so I learn and grow as a painter at an exponential rate to a regular hobbyist.

But yeah I love using the airbrush and I always do a models main color, at least the basecoat, in airbrush for a smoother final look. Usually after a highlight or two with the airbrush I then go in and use the traditional brush for the very fine stuff, then go on and paint the rest of the model traditionally.

Amazing stuff....really, this is one of the most beautiful CSM armies I've ever seen! :D

Btw, what is this Adepticon?

Adepticon is an independent convention in Chicago. The biggest GW (and now PP and FOW) event in the US if not the world, as far as I know.
