The mighty mechanicus !

Recommended Posts

Hi B and C

I have been building an Adeptus mechanicus army for about 2 years now, it is NOT intended for gaming which is why I allow myself to spend so long on it, all models in the army have some sort of conversion work done to them except for a very very few models that was exactly looking the way I liked them to look.

First of my freshly finished Knight Palladin, the model was painted and finished for the Knight contest over at http://z6.invisionfree.com/adeptusmechanic...c=622&st=15 (please go and vote for the one you like the best)

Now haven't updated this in a while but since last update I've been working on some titans :HQ:

First the reaver, scratch built work in progress, 40 cm tall so far.

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/090720101719.jpg

Then to the big one, this bad boy stands approximately 60-70 cm in height, but have misplaced my big ruler so not exactly sure. Also a work in progress obviousely.

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/war2.jpg

Hopefully I'll have all the basic construction on the warlord done in a few days and then it's on to the sanding and filling department

C&c welcome :)

Thanks guys :)

I have no tutorial, sorry, but I can explain how it's built if you are interested. I have some pre- paint pictures too but not really any of the construction itself.

I might do a knight warden at some point, but for now it's the big guys that'll have work done to them :)

I made a lot of progress on the torso tonight, I'll post pics of it tomorrow.

I took a scale pic now that I've made some more progress on both the reaver and the warlord.

and a side view, I think I got the proportions somewhat right although it desperately needs it's shin armour to look more beefy.

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/170720101761.jpg

And progress on the reaver, it got all new feet as the old ones didn't look as I wanted them to.

Did some work on the legs, mainly around the hips and waist to beef it up, also added a bit to the thigh on the inside. The latter on the inside of the shin has been modified to be the track for a lift that sits on it's stand by position just under the knee joint. This will act as a rig for attaching a maintenance platform for leg and lower body repairs and service checks. the idea came to me when I was playing around with parts to beef up the legs and I actually think it's a real nice detail.

Anyway on to the pics

So got a little done on the titans, so here's a small update.

The reaver:

I've ditched the wip cannon for the left arm, instead deciding that a lasblaster was more appropriate and looked way cooler. So I did the basic work for the 3 barrels and tagged them on the arm mount to take some pics. I also tagged some possible detail to the shoulders and have magnetised the arm joints so that the arms can be removed under transport/storage.

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/290920102021.jpg

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/290920102016.jpg

The lasblaster is still only barrels, that's why it looks a bit puny. this will all change when I get the rest built and put the gun shields on.

Definately interested!! I can see that the legs started life as a Defiler kit, but where did the rest come from? If you wouldn't mind posting any WIP images that would be superb!

Hehe I sometimes forget how many kits actually got incorporated in the build :P

But the kits you mentioned are spot on, and then there's a sentinel kit, land raider parts, leman russ parts, some bretonian men-at-arms parts, 2nd ed. land speeder parts and that SOB tank I can't remember the name of, old ork bike, cadian heavy weapon parts, terminator parts, 40k barricades parts and probably some more but can't remember atm. The brass parts are from the 40k basing kit :)

This is also why I haven't got the courage to do a real tutorial on the knight :P

I got a little time on my hands tonight and thought I'd go head on with the apoc launcher for the reaver, and here is the basic structure. It's tagged on atm as I didn't have time to build the mounting yet. Hope you like it :P

great scratch building!

Though I do think the Knight's could do with a bit more armor to bulk up the shins and torsos.

Right now it looks like they wouldnt hold up against much after their void sheilds went down.

Looking forward to more!

Okay so it's finally update time.

A lot of things have happened on the reaver, it is all done except for the torso, crew and banner and painting has begun. I've been lucky enough to borrow an airbrush so the painting will hopefully be less painful as airbrushing really is quicker for such a large model. Well enough of that, here's some PIP pics and the unpainted pics of the painted parts will be uploaded in a few days.

the head carapace, it has had the yellow completely done, and I'm quite pleased with it.

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/130120112256.jpg

And the entire engine first without armour plates and then with. The torso still needs details before being basecoated and painted and hopefully I'll get it done in a few days time.

Absolutely incredible work! have spent most of the afternoon reading through your 2 warseer blogs!

I would greatly appreciate a "bits list" for your Knight if you could find the time to do one. Specifically what bits went into what part. If possible, that would be amazing!

Thanks for the nice comments guys :)

Well Brother Caedrius, I'll see if I get the time for a full list of the bits used, it's quite a lot. And thank you for the nice comment

And Sons of Horus, I have built the reaver and warlord to fit the fw scale, even though I like them to be really big, but who's got the space for that ;)

More painting has been done.

The head got itself a gold trim, which is painted with airbrush except for the final highlight which is drybrushed on.

with the masking tape still on:

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/mask2.jpg

Without the masking tape:

A size comparison with a FW warhound:

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee354/SteffenSJensen/Mighty%20Reaver/sizeside.jpg

And the engine basecoated red:

And after the two highligt stages:

Feel free to comment, there's still a long way till it's done.
