Blindhamster Posted April 28, 2010 Share Posted April 28, 2010 Alright, so.... some people may remember I did a Blood Angel army around 2 years ago, with a custom sculpted Dante, if not the threads probably about someplace still :P Regardless, I have been on and off working on building a replacement Army for those for a little over a year, when I say on and off I actually mostly mean off. I've got the bits to build a full battle company, however Every model in the army has been completely re-posed, I was for a long time a huge fan of True Scaling marines, but realised eventually that standard GW Marines are already about right compared to Guardsmen, stand em up straight and they're a lot taller. I will get around to posting the 2 10 man tactical squads I've actually built and primed along with scouts vanguard and sternguard along with assorted tanks and a pod soon, but I only just got access to a camera and wanted to share what will be for a while at least the most important part of my army: - The Commander. Previously I went with 4th company and played my Blood Angels rather Assault heavy (in tactics and units) This time around I've gone for a Shooty Blood Angel army and its worked well so far. In light of that I decided that when I actually get to painting (I WILL HONEST!) I'll be making them as 3rd Co. And Therefore needed a Tycho model, besides I've always loved the character, just never the rules till now! I am basing my version of Tycho on a mix of the new artwork seen in our latest codex (or first REAL codex) and some ideas from the classic miniature. I really wanted to keep the original 'feel' of the classic mini, as in truth he holds his own against most of the more recent marine releases. Currently my version of Tycho is still lacking his tabbard and probably a purity seal on his right leg as well. Only small criticism I have (and it really is just a wee one) is the soft armour joint at the back of his right knee....its maybe just the pic but it looks more like a bandage? Cant' fault it at all really though mate, looking forward to seeing him painted - are you going to do him as normal Tycho or DC Tycho? When I do do him, it'll be a full pelt running model with the Combi Melta on the ground behind him, thinking I'll have a fair bit of blood on him also. But yes, this one will be the Gold many know and love :cuss @Edemia yeah i looked at the ribbing right after your comment and thought 'man thats a poor job considering' so went back and fixed it :) Exactly the kinda comment I needed, let me know if the refresh is better? @Midnight Runner Thanks, the right knee was important to me because I loved the new artwork with it, sadly mine doesn't look angelic but perhaps with a little paint that'll change! @ancient god Thanks man, was pretty important to me to get the original feel but sort of 'updated' also important to fit in with the rest of the army, which i'll take pics of soon :) Your old stuff was a major inspiration last time I did my blood angels, and your new stuff makes me want to repaint the one nearly finished Blood Angel I have (thats right, I actually have a nearly finished model!) @Doghouse Great to hear from you man! Show me when its done B) But...I don't play Blood Angels...but I have no reference artwork, but I'm crap at mode....OKAAAAAAAYY ;) I'll do it...this make take some time. And I warn you...less ornateness/less sheer fantasticalness... I dropped him midway through taking some of the pictures, snapping (and losing) part of the Iron Halo :teehee: I've begun effort in rebuilding said part through the use of greenstuff now :D The only plus side here, is my build quality was high enough that the model didn't break other than a bit I didn't 'build' per-se... always nice. alright onto whats been changed.... I resculpted the tabard as I really wasn't happy with the look of the original (very very rough looking, also the shape wasn't rectangle, fixed with this one) I resculpted the blood drop and wings on the waist from scratch (after painting the original) as I felt the original really really seemed to be lacking in comparison to the rest of the model. Now onto pics, sadly they don't do him justice at all as most of the mid tones just about everywhere have been killed completely by my bad camera skills, still I hope it gives the general idea.
