World Eaters Army Project by Bohun

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am new one on this forum, although some of you might know me from CoolMiniOrNot site.

I am a professional miniature painter and I do it for my living. I'm mostly into World Eaters and Death Guard, but I love the entire 40k Universe!

I''ve never been much of a forum guy, but I decided nevertheless to post some stuff here, that I post mostly on Chest of Colors forum.

I hope some of you might find it entertaining/inspiring

In this thread I'm going to post WIP pictures of a grand project I'm currently working on as a full time commission job. The project consists of building a World Eaters army painted to a top level, consisting exclusively of Forge World models or FW conversion sets

Here's the list of what will the army consist of:

5 World Eaters Terminators from a conversion set + Lord of Khorne Zhufor + additional lord converted from Abaddon

1 Khorne Demon Prince + additional Bloodletter Champion from the set

1 World Eaters Dreadnought

1 Blood Slaughterer

1 Brass Scorpion

10 Berserkers from a conversion set

1 Khorne Ogryn Beast Handler + 3 Khorne Hounds

Today I'm posting an almost finished Dreadnought (which btw will soon be in my gallery at CMON). It is a good representation of the colorscheme for the entire army and the way I wanted it to look.

I really hope you'll like it!

Please tell me you oppinions on the subject

Regards,

Bohun

Ohhhhh, the envy. I bleed.

That is gorgeous. He reminds me of the Chaos Dreadnought in DOW 2: Chaos Rising. I can see him standing on his base, roaring "DIE! AS I SHOULD HAVE DIED!" all mental like.

Beautiful work. Look forward to seeing more!

WOW. That is EPIC! Great work, I love how you've paid attention to all the lil details too! (ie the toes gripping the rocks!) And I love the way you've painted the battle damage. I'm inspired.

Very menacing looking figure! The Blood God would be proud! (even if he is filthy chaos :) hahaha)

I'm looking forward to seeing the whole army! The Blood Slaughterer sounds intriguing...

I will be adding more stuff here as soon as I get them done. The entire project should take me about 4-5 months...

By The Sword of The Emperor! :) I just checked out your gallery! They are all fantastic (minature) pieces of art! Again, the way you do battle damage and all the metals are simply ;) UNREAL. Inspiration plus!!

You can check the step-by-step tutorial I've done some time ago for Huron Blackheart: http://www.chestofcolors.com/forum/viewtop...f=37&t=5888

I guess it covers the basics of the techniques I use for painting my miniatures, and the most important technique the is imho: GLAZING :(

I hope you'll find it helpful!

Hello Bohun,

that dreadnaught is absolutely amazing, you have some great painting skills!

How did you achieve those smooth colours? Did you use an airbrush.

Anyway, great start mate and I hope to see a lot of your other works in the future!

Please check the tutorial in the previous post. No airbrush had been used. The smoothness of the blending is achieved using glazing technique with a brush!

I think it might be time for me to drop any illusions I have about my own commission work and go back to practicing on my own models again for a while...

That's a very nice dreadnought well posed, well based and exceptionally painted. I look forward to seeing what you do with the rest of the army, but I think it's safe to say that they'll look fantastic standing on the table top along side this.

Good luck with the rest the minis B)

Amazing... Haven't seen WE done that nicely since Hudon, fantastic job!

Would it be too much trouble for a short tutorial and color recipe for your chipping and scratching technique on the red?

Thank you once more everyone for the great feedback! I really appreciate your comments and I'm glad you like my work :P

@cheeseychaoslord: Well, I've been lucky enough to win a few of those some time ago ;)

@sisko11: The recipe is very easy. They are all painted with a brush. First you paint those dark spots and lines (it is important to look a lot on real scratches in order to make the shape realistic and not to much over the top). Then you need to paint the middle of the largest spots metallic (like the metal shines through the scratch). I do that in two stages: first a darker metal base and on top of it a small spot of Mithril Silver + a drop of Skull White or even better White Glaze from Vallejo, which is not so strong. It gives the dimensional impression. Finally you underline the scratches with a very thin bright line (red + white) to increase the illusion of a 3rd dimension. Well, that's it. :P

And finally I upload a WIP picture of a leader of my World Eaters Terminator Squad for the army. It is converted from Abaddon the Despoiler with 2 chainaxes from Lord of Khorne Zhufor + his shoulderpads, and arms from plastic Space Marine and another from Zhufor. I hope you'll like it :)
