Drudge's finished models

Drudge Dreadnought

Recommended Posts

I have tried to have several project threads over the years, but my plans have always been foiled due to infrequent access to a camera, and my tendency to work on multiple projects at once. I got to borrow a friend's camera over the weekend, so I have some decent pictures for a change. Recently, I have been working on Blood Angels, and various commissions (Dark Eldar too, but can't show those.) I wanted one place where I could post my finished pieces without having to maintain multiple project threads that won't see frequent updates.

So, let's get this started with my two completed Blood Angel figures. These two are my beginning experiments in shading, and highlights that actually follow a light source.

Sanguinary Guard with Power Fist

And here's a special one so you can see for sure that those are actually highlights, and not just reflective paint + weird lighting.

I'm afraid Dante is far too dignified to stand on his head.

I've got two commissions that I'll have photoed soon.

They look good, especially the exhaust and wings. Though I feel compelled to ask why the enormous rolls of parchment are so close to an exhaust vent? :D

Ask Astorath, it's his jump pack and wings :D

And here's the first commission, a tabletop quality Deathwing Dreadnought. This is one of the old metal dreads. The client gave it to me already half painted, so I had to scrape and strip a lot of old, nasty paint off. I got it mostly clean, but it meant I couldn't get a perfectly smooth color going. Of course, a war machine like this probably shouldn't have a smooth finish anyway. The client was pleased with it.

I made the banner and base, and re-posed the legs. But I did not do the original body assembly.

Have you never seen a pre heresy jump pack. The instructions say "light blue touch paper and stand 5 meters away from the rocket" :P

These are great models

Okay, i'm far from pro here, but it seems as if the Dread is like, well, a plague marine dread with the color of off-white you used. Ya know what I mean?

It's GWs bone with a slight sepia wash. The pictures probably distorted the quality some. It matches the rest of his Deathwing army.

The gold on the Sanguinary Guard seems unusually flat. Golds are something I've been struggling with myself recently, so I can sympathize with the troubles involved...I'd at minimum suggest trying a sepia wash, though from what I've heard a lot around the net, purples and greens make better washes for gold (sepia is more appropriate for turning silver-metallics into gold). Dunno why, dunno how well it works (haven't gotten around to trying it myself).

The parchment's look good, but a quick and simple Sepia wash might add some valuable depth. The blue-white of the wings is already pretty much dead on though
