So here is my LRC this is my first attempt at really getting into some detail. I know there are a few things not yet done, and I'm going to complete those minor touch ups, but I was pretty excited and thought i would share....

man you really went all out with that talent in a bottle. good job. paint my tanks now. haha

i don't how the templar mods are but our BA ones are kinda serious and may remove those picks because they're too large. I had to shrink mine in a paint program and re upload but maybe your mods are cooler. just fyi

The tank looks awesome. How do you do the highlights? I've got my LRC just sitting on my desk waiting for the finishing touches (it has been for like 2 months now <.<) but I'm probably gonna end up simple-greening and re-doing it because my white did not come out right at all. I like how you used bleached bone in the indents in the armor, I tried doing white there, but I'm still having issues getting the right consistency with my white.

Thank you Marshal Gruldin. The highlights were actually not to difficult, they were done just by using the broad edge of a thin brush, sorta tracing the line, then you just clean it up with chaos black. Took a while but the outcome is nice! And again i appreciate your comment sir!

Very nicely done. The highlights are nice and crisp, and you did a good job of spreading out the BT palette evenly across the whole tank without making it look too formulaic.

My one bit of advice would be to work on those weapons: the Multi Melta, Storm Bolter, and hurricane bolters. The solid coat of one metal shade could use some breaking up with black/red/white/ what-have-you weapon cases or cabling or something. Drilling barrels is always a good idea too, though it may be too late to do now: I dunno how flimsy those hurricanes are under pressure.

Have fun with those lenses, I hate doing those ;)

Thank you everyone for your comments! I'm glad you all seem to like the LRC as much as I do...

@Firepower: yeah unfortunately I don't own a drill bit small enough to drill holes in the barrels of the guns, and yes they do need a bit of something to break them up a bit. Definately going to work on that along with some other minor details that need to be attended to, thank you for the reply though.

I really appreciate the comments guys. I know the tank isn't perfect but I'm very happy with it, and the support I get from all of you really want to make me improve, I'll add the termies that ride in the LRC when I get finished with them by tomorrow night. (Today being Thanksgiving I won't be able to finish them tonight) again thank you to all for your comments!

Very very good table top standard, even above!

Good freehand, gives me some ideas as well for my vehicles :)

Nice work on the use of the bits as well. I'm looking forward to see more pics of your army :)

The series of crosses forming the trim on that predator = win. Very simple but effective, and works well with the imagery of the LRC beside it. I believe I may be stealing that motif in the near future to some degree

As for the terminators, the pics are a bit blurry so it's kinda hard to see the finer details like the shading on white, effects on the blue weapons, and that sort of thing. I can see a few things clearly enough to share my two bits though: The reds look excellent, very bright and vibrant. Golds looks pretty good, too. If you have some, a wash of Gryphonne Sepia on any of the beige parts is a quick and easy way to add a surprising amount of depth. The white scriptures, such as on the greaves, you may want to try breaking them up for a more "realistic" look.

Instead of:

__________________ ___

______ ________________

_____________ _________

Try:

.. __ _____ . . __ .

_____ . . __ . ____

__ . . _______ . ____

The trick is, you don't really need to drag the brush along the surface with a regular brushstroke. Instead it's more like tapping out morris code with pokes of a very fine brushtip.

On the black of the termies, they look particularly....shiny? Did you gloss coat or is that just the camera?

It's definitely the camera lol no glossy there. And firepower you're always there with good suggestions I'm definitely going to try that out for the writing and pick up some of that wash! Thank you for your comments and I'm glad one of my tanks could give you some inspiration!

So it's been almost a week since my last update, however in that time I've been a busy little person. I finished up 2 rhinos and 3 crusader squads (well touched em up/replaced them with templar sprue upgrades). Again guys remember I'm no pro and this is simply for table top standard here, but none the less enjoy the pics!

Here is a group shot of them all together.

So as of now, I have repaired/touched up all of the models I own in the 1850 build I'm going for. I need to buy 2 more predators another Rhino and 3 land speeders. I currently have the models, however they are so old and broken they are currently beyond repair and not worth the effort to paint up. So this blog may update a bit more slowly. However I'm going to be purchasing a predator on Saturday when I had to my LGS! So hopefully a finished pic of that next week. Again C&C appreciated!!! Thanks guys hope you liked em!

I like the dreadnought panel as a bit for the Rhino side hatch, very clever. The checkered pattern of red and white crosses along the one's top hatch are pretty cool, too. Overall things are looking pretty good.

Some things that might need touching up: The large white cross with red borders (on the other rhino's top hatch), I'm guess you painted the white cross first and outlined it in red second? I'm assuming as much because of the rounded edges and tips. When doing something like that, it can be easier to do the outline first, and then fill in the negative space with the internal color of the pattern- it allows you to sharpen the points by simply covering up the inside of the outline, as opposed to trying to follow the pattern at a sharp angle around the central shape.

The large black crosses on the white forward sections of that checker-topped rhino look kinda wonky. The one on the left has that bit of white peeking through at the bottom, but not at the top: it might look better if you thin up the up and down segments of the cross, seeing how thin the one extending forward is.

Nice to see you chugging along so quickly. You'll be up and running in no time :P
